Can you or anyone settle this bet I have with my friend. It is regarding the small flavored Swisher Sweets cigars. My friend says that the wrapper on these flavored cigars is made of paper not tobacco. I say she is nuts that it is wrapped in a tobacco leaf cause it's a CIGAR, duh. Who is correct?...

    Janet,

Swisher Sweets use what's called a Homogenized Tobacco Leaf (HTL) as the wrapper.

HTL means that it is made from tobacco scraps that are ground up, processed and rolled into a large sheet like paper.

Basically, it is processed tobacco rolled into paper form, but it is not paper, per se, like what you would write on.

Dutch Masters, on the other hand, use a natural leaf wrapper, but they do use HTL for the binder.

Not sure if that settles your bet or not, because in some ways, you are both correct.
