Dunhill Cigars

The Dunhill Cigars brand name of cigars has been around for over a century, owned by several different companies over the years but is now a member of the General Cigars stable of brands.

There are currently three different Dunhill Cigars under the General owner ship: Dunhill Aged Dominican is a meticulously hand crafted smoke, a mild and creamy cigar with a Dominican blend inside and a gorgeous, silk-like wrapper hailing from the Connecticut River Valley. Cedar is a strong component in the flavor profile along with nuts and cream. They’re aged in cedar-lined rooms for extra time to give them their undeniably distinct mellow character. The Dunhill Signed Range is a more of a beefier smoke than the Dunhill Aged with a blend made up of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Cameroon, while sporting a beautiful Nicaraguan wrapper. The flavor profile gives off a definite nuttiness with notes of coffee and chocolate.

The newest edition to the line up is the Dunhill 1907, named in celebration of the very first Dunhill tobacco shop. This cigar is definitely the most complex of the blend with distinct notes of cedar and a mild kind of spiciness giving the flavor profile some real zest. A proprietary blend of Dominican ligeros and Brazilian Mata Fina, a Dominican Olor binder, and a hearty Honduran Olancho wrapper leaf deliver a satisfying mix of complex flavors and aromas.

Alfred Dunhill opened a small tobacconist's shop on Duke Street in the St. James area of London back in 1907. He offered tobacco blends tailored for the individual customer opening shops in New York and Paris as well. Throughout the years, Dunhill was renowned for carrying the finest hand rolled gems from the Isle of Cuba and Winston Churchill, himself was perhaps the shop’ most famous and beloved customer. After the Nazi blitz on London in 1941, enemy bombs all but blew the famed Dunhill cigar shop to pieces. At two in the morning, Alfred Dunhill himself telephoned Sir Winston, informing him, “Your cigars are safe, sir.” (Talk about your preferred-client status!) The company has also been known for its accessories like the Dunhill Cigar Cutter and the Dunhill Cigar Case.
