Los Blancos Cigars

The story of Los Blancos Cigars, like many others, begins with a tobacco-growing family whose roots can be traced back to Cuba’s legendary Pinar del Rio province, renowned for its use in the best Cuban cigars. It's the story of Cesar and Francisco Blanco, brothers, who, along with many of their peers' families, fled from Fidel Castro's political persecution to seek asylum in the United States.

Both brothers served honorably in the U.S. Military. Following their service, with help from their cousins, the Plasencia Family, Cesar and Francisco returned to their roots to found the Blanco Cigar Company in 1998. Cesar's son, David Blanco, also a distinguished veteran and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, has played a big role in the company's success as its Executive Vice President, and has become "the face" of Los Blancos Cigars.

Originally based in Chicago, IL, today The Blanco Cigar Company is located in Clearwater, FL, and the Plasencias continue to run all of the tobacco farming and cigar manufacturing operations in both Danlí, Honduras and Estelí, Nicaragua.

Blanco Liga Exclusiva de Familia cigars are comprised of select Nicaraguan long-fillers and binders, deftly rolled in Honduran-grown, Connecticut-seed wrappers. This unique wrapper lends a creamy smoothness to the spicier Nicaraguan tobacco, rounding out the blend to very earthy and flavorful medium-bodied smoke with a delectably sweet aroma. The cigars are rolled in four shapes: Robusto (5" x 54), Toro (6" x 54), Torpedo (6½" x 54), and a Double Corona (7" x 54). The Double Corona is also offered in full-bodied maduro with a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper. The Blanco Liga Exclusiva de Familia selection is a satisfying choice for cigar smokers of every stripe, and ideal for any time of day or occasion.

Blanco NINE cigars get their name by being the ninth and best-tasting blend during the long tasting process, and have earned some of the highest praise from the cigar industry media and consumers alike. NINE is handmade in Estelí with a specially selected, all-Nicaraguan longleaf blend using high-priming ligero tobaccos from Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa, an aromatic Jalapa binder, and dark, shimmering Oscuro Corojo wrappers that have been aged for a minimum of three years. Notes of wood and cocoa may be found in the cold draw. After lighting, the smoke pulls smoothly towards the palate offering flavors of earthiness, coffee, cocoa, and some spiciness with a long finish. Tailor-made for the more experienced smoker, NINE is full-bodied, full-flavored, and full of wonderful surprises.

Blanco American Legion cigars signify a special selection that's very close to the Blanco Family's hearts. Created as a means to help The American Legion maximize their fund-raising efforts across the country, they have produced a stunning, medium-bodied cigar made with a perfectly balanced blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos rolled in an exquisite, three-year-aged Habano Rosado wrapper leaf.

Spearheaded by Cesar Blanco and his son, David, both of whom are members of The American Legion Post No. 238 in Safety Harbor, FL, and who have 51 years of combined military service between them, they felt the project "deserved a top-notch premium cigar." Cesar also added, "Our family has served in the Armed Forces since 1895, and we consider the opportunity to work with The Legion a great privilege, through which to continue to serve."

First introduced in one size, a 6" x 52 Toro, The American Legion line now also includes a 5" x 52 Robusto, and a 6" x 60 Gran Toro. The smoke is ultra-smooth, well-rounded and brimming with caramelized flavors of cedar, almonds, and sweet cream. The American Legion cigars are reasonably-priced, offering you good value, great flavor, and the satisfaction of helping one of America's most vital organizations.
