"My First Foray Into Cigar Smoking"

I just spent a week in Costa Rica and discovered that I REALLY love cigars. Yes, I was smoking Cubans, and yes, so far they are untouchable, though there were some really nice Costa Ricans too. On my return, I immediately found a cigar shop to get a humidor as I did manage to bring back a box of 25 Cohibas and, not being a cigar smoker before a week ago, I had nothing to store them in. While these don't come close to the Cubans, I thoroughly enjoyed the first one right out of the package. While still learning how to rate a cigar properly, I would say that the rating on this one is deserved. Now to season them a bit before trying another! I've found that I like Maduro wrappers and figurado shapes so am currently concentrating on cigars that fit that description. Thanks to the rating system here I was able to find something that wasn't going to immediately turn me off to cigars. So the journey begins with a great start on a cigar that I can get more of!

What can I say? Perfect draw, perfect burn, perfect taste. A solid ten. I would define it as a medium to full strength smoke with an ultra smooth taste. An absolute knockout.

"Bland"

The taste reminded me of a pretzel, and just as bland. Gave one to a friend, who agreed. Great looking cigar, but for me, the looks don't make up for the lack of personality.

"Delicious"

Smoked one last night with my neighbor and we both agreed that it was one tasty smoke. We barely clipped the torp head and that was plenty for a nice draw. Appearance and construction were perfect as we didn't have to relight or correct any burn issues. The flavor profile changed 3 times for me, and each one was pleasant. This cigar stayed on the fuller side of medium, but never became harsh. I picked these up on sale and let them sit for a couple months before smoking them. I'm glad I let them rest and would definitely purchase some more.

"Bad Burn"

This cigar was ok, it had tons of flavor and it filled your mouth with smoke. I had trouble keeping the cigar lit though, and the burn was terrible. The construction was way under par, but as far as the taste and draw goes it was alright. Will not buy again.

"Nice smoke"

I had this sitting in my humidor for a few weeks. Sunday night was a fine time to enjoy a cigar such as this. The burn was flawless from start to finish; no relights or fixes. The draw was perfect and there was lots of smoke. As for the flavor, I had to wait until I was 1 inch into the cigar; even then it never became complex. It was a good tasting cigar by all means, but the flavor didn't make me want to go out and buy a box that instant. I will keep a few of these on hand; let them age for a few months and see what happens. I have a feeling that with some aging, these may become one of my go to smokes.

"Harsh"

This cigar is great in every way except for the flavor. It has a bitter/harsh after taste, a very woody finish that is not pleasant at all. I thought it had a great burn and draw, but the flavor completely ruined it for me.
