Famous 70th La Aurora Toro

Score: 8.0

By Tom Bullock

The Famous Private Selection 70th Anniversary by La Aurora Toro is a toothy, khaki brown with very clean seams, firm and well made; nice to hold and look at. It is heavy in the hand, and has tasty aromas of bright tobacco and a slight earthiness on the cold draw.

The first third is smooth tasting; almond and buttery notes, pleasant and almost floral aromas followed by a clean dry finish. It has notes of oak leaves and light leather.

The second third gets chewy with flavors of leather, oak leaf, a slight nuttiness, and a bit more intensity. The finish is dry, with some dusty notes. The aromas are subtle, lightly cedary, and smooth.

The final third is still chewy, leathery and oak-leafy with lightly sweet tobacco notes, lightly salty, and fragrant. The finish is lingers nicely on the palate, and is clean and tasty.

A mild to medium body in this smoke would be a good choice with morning coffee or a pilsner type beer after work.

I rate this cigar 5 out of 10 in strength.
