Must have been a dud

I got one of these in the Famous medium sampler and was really excited about this smoke after reading all of these reviews. Wow, it was terrible. It just had an overpowering chemical taste. I was really surprised. It looked well constructed (nothing special) and it smelled great after it was lit but something just wasn't right. I gave it about an inch and had to get rid of it. Maybe in a couple of months I will give it another go.

I was actually impressed.

This is a big dude. I wasn't expecting a whole lot when I lit it up but it was actually pretty darn good. It lasted a long time and the smoke was creamy thick. I like it.

GREAT BANG FOR THE $$$$$$

Great cigar. Gobs of heavy smoke, beautiful burn, perfect ash and quite tasty without being over powering. Compares to Romeo Y J Reserva Real for a whole lot less $$$. This cigar is a keeper and my new daily smoke!!

Good taste, bad construction.

I just got done smoking this one while watching the California Fires in the distance, I thought this would be a good cigar to compliment the view. And I have to say, the taste is good, its got a mild creamy flavor... But the construction is horrid. The wrapper was ripped apart just from taking it out of the humidor. It is easily torn, and the cigar itself is overall constructed poorly. It burns unevenly, the flavor is a little inconsistent, and it can be a pain to smoke due to the poor construction. Its a cheap one, but its not exactly good, I would give it a 6.7/10.

Nice cigar

This is a nice cigar considering the price. Its hard to light, and will need to be re-light at least twice but its definitely worth it. It has a distinctive cream taste to it that tastes good, but not great. The taste could be a little more rich but you get what you pay for. Overall, for almost $4 a cigar its a good deal. It burns evenly and the construction is amazing, every cigar in the pack was perfectly constructed, not to mention it looked great.

Not Bad,Not Great

Great construction and burn, draw was pretty average. Nice firm ash, but cigar had very little taste or aroma. Way too mild for my taste. Would be good to have around for golf, or poker buddies who can't tell the difference in a good cigar and a mediocre cigar.

Tastes great

This one tasted great! I smoked it down to the very end because the flavor was so good! However, the construction leaves alot to be desired. The cap and wrapper unravelled and came apart very easily. It was ugly and a mess to smoke but I will keep trying these due to the flavor. Hope they don't all do this but the few I have had will keep me from buying more if I cant get the wrapper mess to straighten out! Tastes great though!

Pleasantly surprised !

I won these at auction...thought I'd take a try on something new. I was pleasantly surprised with what I received. Cigars were fresh and ready to smoke..didn't need to sit in humidor for a few weeks. They burned great and the draw was PERFECT, which I can't always say for some cigars I buy at twice the price. I have added these to my 'watch' list.

One of the finest

The golden wrapper gives the appearence of a mild smoke. This Astral is very smooth, however it has great depth in flavor and not a trace of harshness. A creamy flavor and rich clouds of thick smoke. This cigar also builds in flavor as you smoke down this even burning stick. After finishing, I peeled some of the wrapper back revealing a dark maduro binder. I bought 2 boxes, a Beso and a Maestro. These Astrals great morning smokes with french roast coffee.

A Beautiful Cigar!

I got this cigar from a sampler pack that I ordered after hearing many comments on it. The aroma was very pleasant. It was mild and never harsh. The construction was fair and seamless. There is but one downside on the cigar. The ash is flakey and does not hold for very long, but above all, it is A Beautiful Cigar!

Finally found love....

That was a good cigar!!! Very smooth, perfect draw... it all came to an end far too soon! Smoked it shorter than I think Ive smoked any cigar, but it still tasted good! So far, my top choice of a sampling journey! Even great price.

Great cigar at the right price

The Lujo has become one of my everyday cigars. I store new boxes in my humidor for a couple of months and have never had a burn problem. Great creamy taste. I have never received a bad Atral from Famous Smoke

Great cigar...with a bad problem

Best start imaginable. Great flavor, huge smoke volume. BUT, serious burn problems. Uneven, kept trying to go out. Had to smoke it hard and hot, so the flavor suffered. Wondered if it was just this stick, but note that others have mentioned burn problems on other Astral products.

A good smoke with a cold beer!

Do yourself a favor and throw these in the humidor and let them settle for a few weeks. The first two thirds is easy smoking and they do get spicy towards the end. The draw is smooth, but the burn at times can be a bit uneven. Once these are lit, smoke em to the end as relighting these could leave a harsh taste in your mouth. I would consider these to be in the mild-medium range. I have had a few cases and they have always been consistant. The construction is good and they normally ship in cellophane.

This is a classic smoke.

I am normally a "full" cigar smoker, but this one is very creamy and delicious. Can't ask for more. Very well constructed and very classy. I usually smoke Astral Talanga Valley Selection, but this one is a great afternoon smoke. I guess I am a Astral fan.

Greatest cigar in its price class

Excellent cigar.....2002's best kept secret- $65.00 for a box of 20 is a great price.

Nice

One of the favorites of the 20 box sampler! Strong spice/woody flavor, perfect draw, and fairly easy on the wallet.
Will be ordering more in the near future.,

Very Good and very bad experiences smoking Astrals

Had a box of Prefeccions and all of them smoked beautifully and tasted very nice. They did have sort of a quick smoke time. Then I bought a box of 7.5/50 and I've had them in my humidor for over a month. Smoked six of them and only one smoked right. All the others burned down the side and left a trash fire taste in my mouth. I'll try another one in a couple of weeks. Maybe I should wait a couple of months.

all-around winner

Fantastic cigar. Beautiful ash, fantastic burn and draw, a pipe-tobacco type aroma and a fantastic tase all the way down to the band. I put this cigar up against any other in the same price range.

Nice light smoke

I got this one in a sampler. I think the draw is nice and smooth. Good ash, with slow burn. Nice aroma. This one is a keeper. If you get a chance try one. Little mild, but a good overall cigar.

Not Impressed

Picked up the Astral Maestro for a day at the golf course. Couldn't get it to stay lit and the draw was very tight. Flavor wasn't that great, either. I was not impressed.

one of my favorites

One of my favorite cigars: stronger than a Baccarat but milder than a Punch. Most distinctive feature:
more apt to give a pleasant, light-headed feeling than just about any cigar I have had. Great taste too.

Excellent cigar with a mellow flavor. Perfect after meals, or just relaxing. I rate it a solid 8.5 for flavor and 8.0 for construction.

Astral - Never Again

Picked up an Astral on a recommendation. Mistake. Burn and draw were good, construction was good as well. Taste and aroma were quite bad. Couldn't finish it - what a waste.

Beautiful, smooth, mellow smoke

A very pleasant surprise! Golden wrapper, excellent construction and even burn. Medium in body, with a creamy, butter-like taste. I smoked this one down to the nub and the great taste never let up. Now one of my favorites!
I'll buy again...
