Baccarat Sumatra 1997 Cigars

Nice flavor--But

Nice flavor, but the cigars were soft and "mushy" and came apart. Time in the humi didn't seem to help at all.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Toro 5 Pack by Bluefly43 of Oregon on April 21, 2008

A Decent Smoke

Not quite as good as the regular Baccarat "The Game" but they're close enough. These aren't quite as sweet as those plus they have a bit more of a bite which tends to mellow with a bit of sleep in the humi. Also like the original, I don't consider these "mild", they're more of a medium, particularly as you get to the halfway point. Keep in mind though that for an average of $30 per bundle you are getting a nice medium bodied Camacho for the yard or for the first smoke of the day. Not bad at all.

Decent smoke and price

Decent smoke and price. The Baccarat Sumatra Presidente burns slightly uneven with delicate construction but the draw is nice from start to finish though. The cigar starts off like an Acid 1400cc---sweet---and then slightly gives way to hints of chocolate with a coffee/hazelnut finish.

Quality Bundle

Best bundle from FSS to date. Great with coffee or by itself. If you are looking for a sensational "everyday" cigar, this is the one for you. Taste, aroma and draw were pleasing as was the price.

What a bargain!

I ordered these from a Cigar Monster special and got 25 for 18 bucks. They aren't pretty. They don't always burn straight(but not that bad)However, they taste great and always a good draw. A great morning smoke with some coffee. Seriously, these are a flavor bomb without nicotine overdose.

"Handle with care"

A very good cigar for the price. A very mild and sweet cigar. A few burnt a little uneven. The only complaint is the wrapper - they're a little too fragile for me and easily crack and come loose.

Worth a gamble

Nice surprise. Smoother and more flavorful than I expected. I'll buy more of these.

Nice one

If you like Baccies' youll love these (for the value) right out of the bundle or months in the humidor-the stick just gets better and better. Good Smoke for outdoor activites where you wouldn't want to endager a ten dollar cigar!

bitter and harsh

The catalog says sweet and low--should say bitter and harsh. One of the worst cigars I ever had. I know it is a matter of ones taste, but they are nothing like they are advertise. I was very disappointed I would not buy them again.

"The Game" is over

Baccarat .... is a 'new game' as far as I am concerned. These babies are a home run. Let's see .... Original or Sumatras ??... DUH! Get a bundle of these, enjoy them as much as any Baccarat you every smoked, and pocket the $aving$ .. or use them to buy more Sumatras. Famous, you have definitely scored another winner here.

Quality at an affordable price

The touch of sweetness and smooth flow in my opinion make this cigars one of the best on the market.

Long, Sweet but burns uneven

This was purchased as a special from Famous and it is one sweet cigar. Nice and long and lights well. Burns uneven tho and wants your attention or it will go out.Just fits in my humi at 8 1/2 long.

About the worst I've ever had

These cigars taste terrible - very acidic. The rest is OK: burn, construction, draw, etc. My wife was standing near me when I lit the first one, she turned around and said "what in the world is that, it smells like fireworks going off?"

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra #1 by Tracy of Texas on July 30, 2007

Agree with positive reviews

I have to agree with the positive reviews found for the double coronas and the Toros, especially the Joker's review. I was pleasantly surprised. I had just smoked half a Gurkha Toro natural, which was hard to draw, so I wasn't getting much flavor. It was disappointing and frustrating. (Don't want to put down such a highly rated brand.) But, I decided to try my first Baccarat Sumatran and enjoyed it so much more ... easy draw, mild flavor which is nice on a warm evening. I hope the rest are as good.

What a Surprise!

Bought a bundle of these not expecting much. But what a surprise, nice burn, very nice construction, and best of all, great taste. Can't beat the price! Will keep these babies in the humi' for my days on the golf course.

Harsh, burns fast

These cigars were unsmokeable upon arrival. After on month in my humidor they still burn fast and taste harsh. At least they don't burn as hot as they did a few weeks ago. At least I ordered two bundles. Maybe after two or three years in the humidor they'll be decent cigars. I will not order more.

Buy as many as you can!!

Great cigar at a great price!! Even better than the original Baccarat to me.

Think I'll pass next time on these

Got a ten pack at auction. Disappointed in the taste and construction. If I buy anymore Baccarat's, they won't be the Sumatras.

Nasty!

Nasty says it all!

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by Weldon of Colorado Springs on November 28, 2006

Nice construction and sheen, but alot of ammonia..

I received my order last week and noticed the ammonia smell as soon as I took the cello off to add them to my humidor. 5 days later, I just smoked one. The ammonia is less pronounced, but still there...along some great, subtle chocolate flavor and aromas. We'll see what a month in the humidor does to these...I'll let you know.

you're kidding, right?

These taste like rolled up pencil shavings.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by Mark of Hicktown, MI on October 13, 2006

very good smoke, def a 9.5 on taste

A real pleasant surprise on this one. Taste is great, mild with character and substance. Sumatra adds some slight sweetness. Construction is OK, burn is even, but can't rush. I'll keep these babies on hand for an afternoon smoke.

SPOKE TOO SOON

First 3 or 4 I smoked weren't bad, after that the burn was so-so & tobacco not even close to proper aging. Tried aging for a few months, didn't help. Ended up throwing half away.

GREAT TASTY VALUE

For the price, these sticks are a wonderfull surprise. Great even burn along with a smooth draw and what a wonderful taste. I did not expect such a nice cigar for the price. I will need more. This has just became my every day golf course smoke.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by mackn1p of USA on July 31, 2006

Excellent every day smoke!

What a great smoke! A joy from beginning to end. With the sweet cap, smooth draw, and great flavor, you surely end up with this on your favorites list.

What a Great Smoke!

I picked up a bundle at the auction last week. Tried my first one today and was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of this mild cigar. This is by far the best cigar I have smoked for under a buck a stick.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by Alan R of North Carolina on July 14, 2006

Great everyday cigar

These aren't top of the top cigars but for the price a very good buy. Ideal for everyday or the golf course. I'd say a 9 of 10 on taste and a 10 of 10 for price.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Double Corona by James of Indianapolis on June 1, 2006

Well made,great consistancy and flavor!

This cigar was good right out of the gate!. It drew extremely well and the flavor was great. I'll definately buy these again. Well done Baccarat!

Don't buy....INVEST!

You had me at hello with these babies....First, it's a Baccarat, and we all know what that's about. Secondly, it's a Sumatra, and thirdly the price! But count the money as invested, not spent, as you get far more than your money's worth with this cigar. Sweet, and medium bodied to my palate, with consistently good construction. I have found that the draw on these can vary somewhat, but well within the tolerance range of the average smoker. But don't buy too many...Leave some for me, and don't say The Joker didn't ever do anything for you, lol. Pound-for-pound, possibly the best deal in the whole shootin' match!

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Toro by The Joker of Ohio on May 3, 2006

Walk Away from These!

I'll make it short and sweet. I've been a cigar smoker for 20 years and love a good bargain cigar as much as the next guy. However, these Baccarats are truly 'bargain basement' quality. Acrid taste, poor burn, lousy draw and did I mention lousy taste? Construction is decent but it's what under the hood that counts. In this case, leave the cigar in the ashtray and walk away...

Cheap enough to give away

These are good " Here have a cigar" sticks, Keep the Premo ones for yourself

Great cigar for the price

For the money this is an excellent cigar. Mild and sweet. Great to smoke during a round of golf or just sitting around and relaxing.

GREAT CIGAR!!

WOW! Bought a bundle at the advice of a friend. Smoked one right after arrival. Great burn, 2 inch ash before it dropped off. For the price, I'm very impressed. I've found a new long term addition to my humidor.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by Ben K of Monroe,LA on October 28, 2005

Quite a surprise!

These were a real surprise. I bought these for my golfing buddies who prefer milder cigars. The aroma is very pleasant. Even though I prefer more full-bodied cigars, I tried them and the taste is very good. These are now on my daily smoke list especially with their inexpensive price. I would recommend them if you enjoy a mild smoke.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Corona by Omar of Richland, WA on September 30, 2005

You have to give these a try...

This is one great evening smoke... If you have an hour or so to enjoy it. Sweet cap with a very satisfying smooth flavor. An easy drawing wonderful cigar. Try one! My humidor will always have a few of these giant stogies.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Presidente by Major Stiebretz Bailey Jr of Noblesville on August 6, 2005

Wow! This is one nice stick!

As it happens, I'm pretty fond of the Baccarat Toros, so when I saw this "Sumatran" version, I was curious. Ordered some on a whim. When they showed up, I didn't even give them a few days in the humidor to "relax", just fired it up. Wow. It looks just like the Baccarat Toro, but it's definitely different. A little stronger taste, a little smoother, nice construction, even burn, draw is just a tad harder. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality for a stick that goes for, like a buck. I'll definitely be getting some more of these. If you like the Baccarats, yer prolly gonna love this.

Medium bodied beauty

When I recieved my first bundle of these stogies i was sceptical. I was suprised after the first draw, smooth flavor with a slight bite at the end. I would compare the initial flavor to an Ashton Cabinet and the final bit of a Diablo Cailiente. I would recomend these to anyone looking for a well constructed everyday smoke. Good draw (no plugs yet) nice apperance and a nicely burning cigar. And you can not bet the price.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Rothschild by Mike of Naugatuck, CT on May 4, 2005

BINGO!!

Got my bundle and immediately smoked one. Good taste....but....tunneling, hard draw, what seemed like plugs, and I thought oh crap! Took them all out of the cello and put them in the humidor. 3 days later I smoked one, just for the heck of it and, BINGO! An amazing transformation took place in just 72 hours. By June these should be a $7.00 cigar for just a buck! I will definitely be ordering more for my everyday smoke.

Mild and Sweet

I was suprised at how sweet tasting these sticks are. Nice construction, good draw, not bad for the price!

Great smoke for the price!

A great smoke. A high class smoke at a affordable price. Anyone who has or smokes Baccarat should jump on this offer.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Corona by Ted Stallman of Kissimmee Fl on January 17, 2005

I love these cigars

I just recently purchased my first bundle. I smoke both sweet and spicy cigars. Baccarat is my favorite every day mild and sweet smoke. I find the Baccarat Sumatra to be an interesting combination. These smokes are built solid. I haven't had any plugs and the burn is even and holds an ash well. If you smoke the Presidente, it's going to last you all night long.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Presidente by John Scott of Albany, NY on December 28, 2004

Pretty Darned Good!

After reading the back-page advertisement of these cigars in a recent catalog, I ordered a couple of bundles. Heck, 7 years of extra aging with a price like that sounded great to me! When I got them, I was impressed by their solid construction. I took one down to my regular Tuesday night hangout, cut the tip, and was a bit disappointed to find the tip sweetened รก la Swisher Sweets. However, it only lasted for a few seconds (I figure if I dip the tip in a cognac or port next time, *that* oughta fix things up!). The smoke itself I would rate as medium-strength, with pronounced roasted notes on the tongue. A very satisfying smoke, considering it should be so mild. Believe me, I only need one of these to get me through a night! Bottom Line: construction, draw, taste, & price make this cigar a fine choice.

Very good cigar for the price

I bought a bundle of the Baccarat Sumatra Double Corona several weeks ago and have been impressed with the easy draw, even burn and fine white-gray ash. The cigar is mild to medium with a spicy taste which I enjoy. I have been looking for a good inexpensive everyday cigar, that's not too expensive and I think I may have found it. At a little over a buck a cigar, the taste can't be beat.

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra Double Corona by Fred Malotte of Haubstadt, Indiana on April 11, 2004

Very good smoke *when* you can draw.

I really like these Sumatras - but the construction is inconsistent. Perhaps 1-in-4 will draw too hard for a pleasant smoke. But the price, and the spicy yet sweet flavor trump the inconsistencies for an everyday smoke. If you're looking to impress, look elsewhere in your humidor.

Good stick! GREAT for the price!

I am a big Bacarat fan usually smoking churchill's or the giant Double Corona. I saw these cigars on sale and bought a bundle. The first impression was great, more body and a bit fuller taste than the normal natural wrapper. A Good smoke!

This review was written about Baccarat Sumatra #1 by Thomas Hodges of Athens, GA on December 4, 2003

OK, I guess

I got a bundle about a month ago. I have had Baccarat (singles) before and really liked them. So when I seen these on sale, I bought some. I was a little let down with them. They have solid construction, nice burn, but the flavor in some are strong and taste just like a "SWISHER SWEET"(nasty!) and some are weak and bitter. I have 2 that were GOOD, so I will let the rest sit in the humidor and finish my others and hopefully they improve with time.
