Nice and Smooth, My personal Favorite

I have tried many different smokes. I got a 1916 in a sampler pack I bought. I enjoyed it so much I figured it must be a fluke. Now after purchasing tons of them and sharing them with my friends, I know it is definately not a fluke. All my friends love them, they all comment on how smooth and tastefull they are.

Absolute Pleasure

I let this rest in my humidor for about a month before smoking it. I can't say enough about this cigar, presentation is beautiful, the flavor is unmatched, burn is even and develops a long clingy ash, definitely will keep this one in the humidor

Fantastic line from Carlos

Quite a fantastic cigar, the 1916 Cameroon. The smoke was fantastic, as well as the finish. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a pallette. The taste bloomed in the middle of the cigar into quite a a taste. Give this one a try.

Reason to celebrate

Brought home a '90 Miata today- 41,000 miles and great condition. Wanted to celebrate the occasion, so I went to the humidor for a 1916 Cameroon Churchill. It didn't disappoint. I've smoked a number of them, and enjoyed everyone. Good draw, even burn, clingy ash, great flavor. There will always be some in my humidor.

Do not deserve such high grade

I've never smoked anything worse. The cigars practically have no draw. Do not stay lit for a minute. As for the taste.. nothing to be excited about. To do the justice...- they do look good

Not Sure

I bought a bunch of these the other night to share with some of my buddies. The wives were out of town so we had a reason to celebrate!! The construction is great although the wrapper leaf tends to be pretty thin and starts to unravel when you cut it. This happened on all of the cigars. Also, 2 out of the 5 were plugged pretty bad. It wasn't that it was rolled too tight but they had some hard spots that we couldn't "massage" out. Also, I'm not to sure about the taste. I really couldn't nail it down but I just didn't like this blend. I tend towards medium to full maduros and this one just didn't do it for me. I also bought a CT Signature Perfecto Maduro which is supposed to be pretty good based on everyone's reviews. I'll give that one a try and see if I feel any different.

Very Good but needs Strenght

Well made, great wrapper,a little weak for me,expected more Cameroon taste also, overall good. If the company brings up the strenght to full trottle no cigar will beat it,no cigar.

Great Smoke, Fantastic Price

For less than 3 bucks a stick this is a fnatastic deal. I've smoked at least 3 boxes and have never had a plug or lousy burn. Great flavor, great value. I've spent lots more on cigars that deliver far less.

slow and satisfying

A firm draw but a lot of character

excellent cigar, maybe? ...tight draw, Yes

I bought a box and have smoked two within the 1st week. The initial cigar's draw problem was immediately apparent and the fragil wrapping was hard to keep in place. Several days later the 2nd smoked a bit better, but wrapper came apart and the draw was still too tight. Maybe letting these puppies rest peasefully in a humidor for while helps their cause... considering their price, I sure hope so.

Outstanding!

Excellent by every measure - perfect burn, easy draw and conistently smooth medium flavor from beginning to end.

One Fantastic Deal!

I was checking these on the auction site and was appalled at some of the negative or "average" comments. I don't doubt the guys were describing their experience, but I've found these to be superb smokes! I've smoked them within days of arrival, and have some that have aged over a year, and they are always reliable, smooth, and flavorful. Construction is excellent -- they are handmade agricultural products and maybe one or two per box has flaws with the wrapper or canoes a bit, but I can accept that if the rest are excellent and these always are. Flavor is slightly sweet (the Camaroon wrapper coming through), rich and varied. In short, I love these! I'm always tempted to reach for a "better" (that means more expensive) cigar, but the reality is that when I really want to kick back and enjoy a great cigar, an adult beverage and good conversation, this is what I reach for almost every time. Highly recommended!

strong, eventually harsh

en cedro, nice faint pre-light aroma, beautiful multicolored deep brown wrapper, aged (wrapper and ring slide right off) medium to heavy draw, huge amounts of thick, strong smoke. Thick, densely packed, solid cigar. The smoke gets steadily harsher, with the nicotine covering up the flavor. Perhaps after the taste buds are deadened by hundreds of cigars, this is a crescendo which is enjoyable. For me, it is not.

Inconsistent....

I've been getting these through the 5-pack auctions. Initially, I thought they were really great, but the last two packs have had serious construction issues, with the bottom half of the cigar flaking off or tearing away. Still, over the overall smoke is okay, but I'm less pleased this time around...

A good smoke but????

I purchased (2) 5 packs at auction. A great looking cigar, nice presentation. Well built, nice ash, good quality. Taste has been inconsistent. I expected better. My wife says it has a bad odor (which she doesn't say about all cigars). I'm keeping a few in my humidor for awhile to see if they will get better with age.

A great Cigar

I have only been smoking cigars for around a year. And I have spent this year trying many diffrent cigars and this is one of the best I have tried. It is full but one of the creamest and smoothest on the market. I have since built a display humidor and this is promidently displayed in it,

Simply a great stick!

My goodness, but this was a great cigar. The draw, burn, and ash were just lovely. The flavor and aromas were terrific and had lovely nuances throughout. I would like to recommend it with a nice glass of 10 year-old Kopke Port. Highly recommended!

Fantastic!

I'll keep it short (since I'm not a paid salesman). For just about $3.00 a stick, you would have to be completely out of your mind to pass these up! Overall, 9+ outta 10. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I Need to Try Another One!!

Well, I won these on the auction site, and since I am avid Cameroon fan, I was looking forward to this. The cigar has excellent construction, and a very nice cameroon wrapper, however as what occurred with another reviewer I had a tight draw, and that's very troublesome with a big stick like a churchill. I worked so much on the draw, I really didn't enjoy the smoke, So! it became unmentionable. I have 4 more lets see how they are.

Disappointing effort from Torano

I am an avid Cameroon smoker, a fan of the Torano brand, and a 5.5 x 52 cigar is my favorite size. I was looking for a cheaper an more readliy available smoke to my usual Partagas and Upmann. However, this stick was nowhere near on that level. Granted, it looked great and burned well, but the flavor is where this one suffered. It's not bad, mind you - it just lacked the spice and depth I am used to from other Cameroon cigars. Try the Don Tomas Cameroon - very spicy on the palate, it burned great leaveing a bone-white ash behind, and its cheaper. If you want to stick w/ the Torano line, the 1959 Silver Edition (w/ a Criollo wrapper) is a better choice than the 1916. The 1916 is overrated.

Good

Excellent appearance, draw and nice white ash. The first 1/3rd of it is probably the closest to the Cubans of all Toranos. After this it turns very Nicaraguan. Yet it is obvious that the Toranos are some of the nicest looking cigars around.

Great cigar

Not being an expert on cigar reviews, all I can say is that I really enjoyed this cigar enough to purchase a box. Great taste, slow burn, long white ash, medium strength.

All-day smoke, but needs some humidor time

Quite a fistful. Definitely set aside at least 2 hours for this smoke. The good: long burn. Very good albeit tight construction. including nice ash. Draw was a bit tight. The bad: Seems a bit green/harsh for a Cameroon. I often smoke darks/maduros, and also various Cameroons, and this was pretty strong for the latter, and even the former. If you're expecting a Partagas, A. Fuentes, or CAO type Cameroon, think again. Hopefully, a couple months of humidor time will mellow them a bit.

What a steal!

This torpedo will stand up to the best of them. Super smooth draw, good medium strength, even burn, lasts about 1:30-1:45. Smoked it to the nub. This cigar will be a hard one to find once people experience it. I always buy my smokes at Famous, however Payless Cigars are pricing these at around 76.00 for a box of 25. Famous isn't even close to that price. I e-mailed them with no response. I'll put this cigar up against the cubans any day. ENJOY!

Very good flavorful smoke

I found this cigar to have a easy draw, ash was silver gray and tight. 1st third had a lot of flavor, mellowed slightly, smooth finish.
