Cohiba Cigars

Great construction and appearance. Lacking flavor

I wasn't impressed with the flavor of these. I usually smoke fuller flavored cigars and foolishly expecting the same. It did have a lot of positive aspects though. I will say that if you like a smooth, mild to medium cigar this is the one for you! It's a very attractive cigar that's well constructed. The burn is very even down the entire length of the cigar. It may be blasphemous, but I cut these in half and it gives the cigar that much more flavor. Since you can purchase these at half of suggested retail price, I'd say it's worth it.

$10 for 6 and it's still over-priced

Got these from my local cigar shop. I'd always steered clear of red dot Cohibas, and I figured I should be more open. Wish I hadn't. The first taste was a very distinct hard-boiled-egg taste. Don't know where that came from. That slowly went away to be replaced by the most simplistic and flat generic smoke flavor I've ever had. Hoping they get better after a nice, long time-out in the humidor. No! Bad cigars!

Pure Awesomeness!

Got one of these for my birthday and instantly lit it up to enjoy. Holy wowwings! It is one of the finest things I have ever smoked. I cannot tell which is better between this or the XV . They are both miles ahead of the rest of the cigar world in taste.

Below gas-station quality! Do not be fooled!

Bought a tin of these for 13$- exactly what I feared: these are garbage, unsmokeable. No effort was put into rolling them, prob swept off the factory floor, ugly, dried out. Just a little extra income for Cohiba to pawn these off in tins where you can't see what you're getting. Try Punch bolos for a decent small cigar.

Not worth the price, even auctioned

not sure whats the hype about red dot cohibas.. obviously nothing like the cuban company, cohiba. these are way over priced in comparison to other fine smokes like fuente fuente and padron. even cao makes a better stick at a fraction of the cost of any red dot or black cohiba. on top of that, these have a "burnt" taste to them on your palette. i give em a 7 overall.

Superb Taste, excellent construction

I fell in love with these miniatures!! All the superior quality taste in a small convenient package, they start to soften up halfway through but they still hold up all the way to the end. Will purchase again soon!!

Inconsistency enough to scare me off for good

I've bought enough of these to know there is an inconsistency as regards to taste and sometimes construction. Just bought a 5/6 pack and man am I disappointed to the point that I will never risk buying them in bulk like this again. They are wet with a fat body and skinny ash and taste like battery acid. I could still taste acid the next day.. yuck! Typically I enjoy a couple of these puppies a day for a quick smoke but I guess I will have to let them rest which is kind of a waste of space in the humidor.

Too bad Kevin had a bad experience with the Robusto. As for me, I find the draw excellent and the taste superb.

A Story of the Great COHIBA RED DOT

This past early fall I went to spend a weekend at my bother and I's river front property on the South Branch Potomac in West Virginia. As usual I drank my favorite Beer and smoked my Cohiba Church Hills. On Saturday Night, as usual, I drank more than I should have and burnt down at least three Cohiba's. What I didnt relaize was that I left nearly half of one of my lit Churchills lay on the top of the deck rail outside. Two weeks later I went back to close down the camp area and as I stopped at the cabin I found my very wet soaked Cohiba laying on the top of the deck railing. Hating to waste such a great cigar I put it in my Van in the ash tray. Another two weeks went by and I took the Cohia out of the ash tray that had since dried out. having the desire for a smoke while on the road I clipped each end of it with the cutter and lit it up. The taste and smell , while not as fresh as one fresh out of the humidor, was great for the moment of wanting a smoke while on the road. I have yet to puchase a Cigar in the same price range, less expensive, or more expensive to compare to the Cohia Red Dot. I can burn them down to the nub and the taste and great smell stays with them. For those of you who knock them as being over rated. Try an Ashton. everytime I attemped to purchase a single Ashton I cant get half way through one before it draws so much mositure burns black and STINKS to the point where I just pitch it. They dont even deserve the chance to dry out in the ash tray. Cohiba's are Great! They take a beating and keep on burning with great armoma and taste.

Dont waste your money, they taste bad, draw terribly, are too hot when smoked. I have nothing good to say about these at all. I would have been better off rolling up the money i spent on them, and smoking it.

Worst draw of any cigar

This cigar has the worst draw I've ever had. I've tried three of these so far and they have all been unsmokable. Bad construction and the flavor is decent but not that great. I have no idea why they are so expensive

Makes you come back for another.......

Been trying samplers all summer. Found a few new good smokes. But I still cant seem to top the Cohiba Toro. I do enjoy trying different smokes, but it's nice to know that you have a premium cigar sitting in your humidor. Cohiba is really worth the price.

Excellent cigar, one of the best I've had

By far, this was one of the best cigars I've had. From it's construction to it's mild to medium creamy flavor. From start to finish, it was consistent in taste and burn. I would recommend it to anyone. As for the guy who didn't like it, like any cigar, you can get a "bad one" if it isn't taken care of, or some other "misfortune". Also, I have had a real Cohiba and this one I would consider even better.

This review was written about Cohiba Toro Tube by Mike of Alpena on August 17, 2007

Good, but...

This is a good, but simple cigar. It is mild and well-balanced, yet I have found them to be a bit too bland for my taste (though I still prefer mild cigars). Probably a great way to introduce people to cigars, but when compared to other cigars in this price range (particularly The Griffin's or cheaper/smaller Davidoff sticks), they just don't measure up. Good if you like mild cigars, but certainly not worth the price--something just seems to be missing.

Money wasted. Unable to smoke!

Total waste of money. Tried smoking 3 of these and had no luck. Tobacco must have been wrapped too tightly because I was unable to get any kind of draw. Shame on you Cohiba!

This is a terrific small cigar--great flavor and consistency, and for less than $1.50 a smoke. The smoke volume is a little on the thin side for my taste, though.

WORST MINIATURE (Cigar) EVER PRODUCED!!

Friends, spend your money elsewhere. Straw tastes better and will draw better. These are best when placed in the garbage; definately do not try to smoke!!

Fantastic Smoke

I truly enjoyed the negative comments from the people who smoke cigars. You noticed I did not say "Cigar Smokers". Only a true novice would have anything negative to say about a Cohiba. This is one of the best cigars that money can buy and any "Cigar Smoker" can attest to that. So to the true Novice, stay with your ultra mild stogies for a couple of years before you comment on a Real Cigar.

What a great Smoke

The Cohiba Robusto is tops. Medium strength smoke. From the first draw, you know this is gonna be good. Not spicy, not harsh, but not too mild either, just right. It has that perfect tobacco taste I'm looking for. Nice.

One-of-a Kind Taste!

I have been smoking cigars and cigarillos for quite a while now, and am always looking for the next best quick smoke. Pequenos are outstanding overall, but Cohiba can be pricey as a brand. However, when trying to compare cigars for a matter of saving money can be nearly impossible, unless comparing within the same brand. I have searched wide and far for a comparable smoke to the Cohiba, specifically Pequenos, but there has been no "copycat" (J.E., review written January 7, 2007.) as of yet. Sorry. If anyone possiby can find comprable tasting, burning, constructed, etc., cigar or small cigar/cigarillo similar to Cohiba with a cut of the price tag let the world know here on this site!!!

Very Disappointed

I have been extremely happy with all my Famous-Smokes. That said, this Cohiba Robusto (Natural) I received as part of a sampler pack was just terrible. The wrapper was quite veiny and the cap construction was not up to par for a hand made premium cigar. The cigar lit/burnt unevenly. But most importantly, it didn't taste good at all - absolutely dull. Because of the premium name, I smoked WAY too much before finally giving up 2/3 through. There are far superior smokes for less money - I will not be smoking any more of these.

This review was written about Cohiba Robusto by Charlie of Hagerstown, MD on January 29, 2007

Tasty but overrated

Certainly a fine, flavorful and smooth cigar with fine construction, but $12.50 retail, give me a break. I pick them up at reasonable prices in FSS sampler packs and probably wouldn't buy them any other way.

I paid $14 U.S. dollars for a tin of pequenos. Never again, I realized there are better short smokes then these over priced and over- rated smokes. Tightly packed and harsh. Sorry copy-cat Cohibas, you still need work.

Creamy Smooth, what a great smoke!

From the first draw to the last, the Cohiba Toro exhibited all of the qualities of an excellent cigar. Well constructed, even burn, nice gray ash, clouds of smooth creamy smoke. Flavors of chocolate and leather with a clean finish and no bitter after taste. Best of all, I have found this cigar consistent from tube to tube and year to year. Bravo!

I usually smoke RyJ Coronas, but this mini cigars are perfect for those quick 30 minute breaks. It has a mild taste and a pleasant smell (approved by the wife). For the price, this will be a great addition to your stack. I usually don't write reviews but I feel obligated to share the experience. Enjoy!

A Little Pricey

In my opinion there are better tasting cigars on the market. However, I have never seen a Red Dot Cohiba burn crooked, fall apart, or go out. I have smoked probably about 10 robusto size of these in the past 2 years all purchased from Famous in a variety of samplers. They all tasted the same, and burned the same. The whole cigar tastes the same from light up to last puff. The best part about these is the construction. Odds are if you buy a box you wont have any bad ones as it should be for the price. I think I will take my chances on brands like Padron, Rocky Patel Vintage, and LGC for half the price.

Buy something else

I've been storing a couple Robusto Naturals in my humidor for months, saving 'em for when I needed a really good smoke. Tried one tonight and it took 1/3 of my lighter fuel to get it going. The draw was okay, the burn okay, the ash was firm, the smoke never had a harsh taste, and it generally had good manners, but it was bland! It got slightly better at midpoint (from mediocre to mediocre-plus). I did detect a nutty toasty aroma, but nuthin' compared to real nuts and toast. The cheap and mediocre bundle cigar I had earlier in the day at least had some complexity and perhaps some intrigue. I hope they're not all like this!

Cohiba for the first time

A friend expressed the joy of a real good cigar. I bought a sample pack and was most pleased with the taste and aroma of the Cohiba Robusto 5x49. I recomend this particular cigar because it burns even and does not take all day to enjoy.

Ok , I admitted, I was too stupid to fall for

Why would anyone name their cigar COHIBA when they have no affiliation to the real one, other than ripping some body off. From the box to the tube and the individual tags on each cigar it is repeatedly mentioned , hey dummy we are not even related to what you thought you are buying. Now, do not take me wrong I really did not think that I am getting a COHIBA, but I thought it is some subsidiary of original in another country with some overside. Therefore there would be some pleasing features for those who cant get the real McCoy. Any way it taste like cow patty, the cedar rapping has left some wood sap on the cigar that sticks to your finger or maybe it is in the cigar, I don?t know which. You have to spit after each puff because of the strange taste. The construction is nothing to talk about , it burns uneven and smells like shit . This was a biggest rip off . I don?t know what to do with the rest of the box . You can?t even give it away to your friends thinking they will laugh at you.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

I have had Cohibas before and wasn't really impressed with them so when I recieved a 3 pack as a gift I figured that they purchased because of their name. I let them sit for about about a month because I thought they seemed a bit dry. The GOOD- I fired up the first one and was TOTALLY AMAZED! It was GREAT! Wonderful flavor with a creamy touch. Huge clouds of white bellowy smoke. Great construction, even perfect burn. I smoked it down to a "finger burner". The BAD- About a week later, fired up the second it was amazing too, Amazingly bad! It tasted like a combination of plastic and dog crap. It was bad and it plugged off so I tossed it. As for the third, OK, nice flavor but nothing special. The UGLY-The amount of money someone paid for those cigars. One of them was worth it but the rest weren't. I think that for the price tag of Cohibas you can get better that are a lot less money.

overrated

I have smoked a variety of premium cigars and was looking forward to this Cohiba, but I was disappointed. It was OK but I sure didn't see what all the hype was about. In my opinion it's overpriced and you are paying for the name! Not a bad smoke at all, but I will pay way less for Maria Guerrero and enjoy them more.

This is a good cigar and a great size.

Sometimes it is not the cigar, but the cigar smoker. No, this is not a Cuban. It is however a wonderful cigar. For a smooth anytime cigar and a quick smoke this is a good pick. Having smoked the Cubans and avoiding cigar snobbery I give this cigar the respect it deserves. Judging a smoke on its own merit and not on comparison to others, this stands on its own as a good smoke. I love to share these just to see the look of suprise on a new smokers face as to how smooth they are.

I bought a box of Crystal Corona's last year and thought they where one of the better smokes I've had. Bought another box recently, honestly can say very disappointed, nothing like the first box, oh they looked the same, but the taste, Yuk.

Name Brand

This is one of those cigars that is all name. The cigar is a pleasant smoke at best. I would consider the flavor is one dimensional, very earthy taste. The smoke is medium in strength yet it does have a great name. Everyone knows the name so if you are out Golfing and you want to soften you clients up give them a Cohiba red dot!

Try the New Cuban stuff

Try them, they are OK, but you are paying only for the name. Besides, after trying the real stuff you don't want to waste your money on these copycats. There is only one Cohiba and that's the one made in Havana.

The best, smoothest small cigar I have found

Exceptional quality in a small cigar. Very smoth and great tasting. The quality of a bigger smoke in a cigar for the times when you don't have time. Quality construction.

Ugh!

To parody a line from an old burger commercial - "Where's the Taste"? The good points of this cigar, mostly construction-related, are barely Minimum for the price tag and the fact it has as much taste as a very cheap hamburger bun makes its' good points totally irrelevant in my book. To my thinking, taste is THE reason to smoke cigars and that sure eliminates this wimpy stick right out of the tube.

This review was written about Cohiba Crystal Corona by Jim Moore of Central Florida on August 14, 2005

Overpriced!!

A definite "You are paying for the name" cigar. The draw, consistency and burn don't compare with some of the lesser priced offerings such as Monte, Cruz, or Punch. If you want a great premium, try the Ashton 898. Now that's a cigar!!!

Good cigar, but not worth the price.

I really wanted to try this cigar as it seems to be considered THE standard of premium cigars. It was a really good cigar, but I've had better cigars at half the price. This is definitely a case where you are paying for the name more than anything else.

Great smoke, if pricey

I had to try this one given the marketing engine behind it -- it seems to be pumped as "the" premium cigar at a lot of vendors, so I wasn't sure if this was the McDonalds of the cigar world, or actually worth the $7. I was also curious given the ongoing legal battles between the Red Dot Cohiba we have here and the Yellow Band Cohiba: what made this name worth the long legal battle? Well, I'm not sure it's worth $7, but I was surprised at how good it tastes. Usually I go for mild cigars, so I didn't expect that I'd like the "medium to full" taste, but it's really quite pleasing on the palate -- it doesn't have any of the harshness I normally associate with medium or full cigars, which probably means that it's been well aged -- I should note that I only received it from famous this afternoon, so that wasn't my doing. The co
