Surprised the heck out of me.

I recieved 5 as a sample. Tasty and well made. Before the samples were gone I ordered a box. Somehow 2 boxes arrived and it turned out I double ordered. These are so good I kept the extra box, I'll be smoking them anyway. Thanks Famous for turning me on to Conuco.

Pleasantly Surprised with this Newbie...

My first Conuco. Received box yesterday; toasted one out of the box this morn. Fine construction. Burns evenly. Flamed-out once due to my extended lack of suck. Plenty of smoke. Complex and medium in flavor, at no time harsh. I was skeptical of this one due to the mixed reviews below of other Conucos, but this one is well worth the price especially if you find it marked-down. I'll buy more...

great price, great cigar, great body!

When Famous Smoke agreed to become a sponsor of acigarsmoker.com they sent along a nice amount of smokes for review and I assure you sponsor or not, I will continue to give you straight forward reviews on cigars.
When I opened the box from Famous there was not one cigar in the box I ever heard of but being I want to try everything I picked this cigar after letting it sit in my humidor for about a week.
The Conuco cigar is actually a Rocky Patel blended cigar which had me worried because a lot of his mail order only cigars are real duds. So it was with great trepidation that I put this cigar in my shirt pocket and went down to the bay to smoke. Yes I changed my location a little as it is getting colder out and the Bay offers nice views with some protection from the winds..
The Skinny:
Cigar: Conuco (pronounce Koh-noo-Koh)
Origin: Honduras
Size: 5 x 50 (Robusto)
Wrapper: Honduras (Habano)
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua & Costa Rica
Strength: Mild-Medium
Pre-Smoke: On appearance this is one beautifully constructed cigar. The wrapper is chocolate in color with some veins, but nothing that stands out. The cigar was full of oils, and was firm to the touch with just enough sponge to let you know it was properly humidified. The scent of the wrapper has some wood notes, while on the foot there were some strong caramel notes with just a trace of cocoa.
You can say at this point I was pleasantly surprised and I was looking forward to smoking it. So with my idiot proof cutter in hand, I snipped the cap and after taking a sip of water I checked the pre-light draw which was nice and easy. It offered notes of caramel that were easily identifiable.
Smoke: This cigar smoked nice and slow with absolutely no burn issues whatsoever. The 1st third of the cigar offered notes of nuts with a touch of earth and the occasional coffee. You can say I was definitely enjoying this cigar. The 2nd third of the cigar the coffee notes really came through with the caramel I got on the pre-light. The cigars final third was coffee with notes of cocoa right to the nub. When I was done with my smoke I was left with a nice coffee finish accompanied by a subtle sweetness.
Overall: This is a cigar that proves you do not have to spend a lot of money to find a good cigar. It was enjoyable throughout on all the samples I smoked and they were all consistent in terms of the notes of the cigar. I was so impressed that I plan to order some as soon as I free up some room in my humidor or break down and purchase a furniture piece.

got 5, smoked 2, finished 0

Sorry, but these just don't do it for me. Draw made it impossible to get any smoke and the taste was just not worth the money or the effort. Not an enjoyable smoke by any means.

Just a bit "Rocky"

Yeah, the Rocky Patel signature does seem to come through, at least in the ones I have smoked. I'm on my second box now, and have to say I have enjoyed every one I've had. While I wouldn't rate them as "Full" bodied, as Famous does in the description, they're a good solid "medium", and stay pretty much single dimensional until the last 1/3, where some spice and slight coffee flavors kick in for the finish. I can't recall seeing a more consistently good looking stick, with a rich looking medium-dark wrapper. They light easily, and draw well in my experience. A pleasurable smoking experience that goes well after a good meal, or with a cup of good strong coffee in the morning. I can see myself ordering more of these, and I can give one to a friend with no worries about giving someone a 'dud'. They're not 'uber-premium' but neither is the price, which isn't really too bad compared to some others. I think Famous and Rocky have come up with a good all around smoke that I could enjoy for a long time, on a regular basis.

A decent smoke

I'm relatively new to smoking cigars, so I offer my opinion with that caveat. This was a pretty good smoke for me. I tried this one a couple of nights ago. The draw was pretty easy and it provided plenty of good smoke. I found it to be pretty consistent throughout the hour plus it took me to smoke it. I would definitely recommend it and would smoke it again.

doesn't get any worse than this

I tried to smoke one of these, but the construction made it impossible. It was rolled so tightly there was no way to get any smoke. I am sure it wasn't a plug because i have a rod i stuck all the way through the cigar several times. After about 10 minutes of fighting it, I finally got fed up, broke the cigar in half, and found another brand to smoke.People should get paid by the stick to smoke these because this cigar is nothing but work.

not a $4 cigar

is it a decent smoke - yep. but, i guess i'm tired of hearing that everything new is a premium and has a price to match the hype. there are plenty of excellent bundle cigars that fulfill my tastes without making me say, why do i need to smoke a $4 cigar (or $3 for that matter). famous smokes needs to go back to its roots and sell good cigars for good prices and forget the bull crap. if they don't, customers will stop being loyal and go elsewhere.

Very good smoke!

Once these rested a bit (robustos) and had a day in the dry box....they were excellent. Shipped quite moist, but once they settled in, they were excellent. Medium-full bodied, complex flavors. I would certainly buy a box of these.

Horrible

Sorry folks.......But personally, I think this was the worst cigar I ever smoked. To begin with, you had to constantly relight the cigar. Then the ask was extremely uneven. not a good grey clean ash. Very loosly burned. Hard draw. Folks, unfortunatley I can't really say anything good about this "premium" cigar. Sorry~

Too busy re-lighting it to notice the flavor.

I'm sure there was flavor there, but the robusto kept going out- the draw was too easy, the cigar was not uniformly made. I have one left, and I hope it will deliver the unctuous caramel richness that I keep reading about.

Katy, BAR THE DOOR!!!

Conuco Toro
6x52
Honduras
Wrapper: Honduras
Binder: Nicaragua(?)
Filler: Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama,Nicaragua.
First things first: this is one "drop-dead-gorgeous" cigar, it has one of the oiliest wrappers that I have seen in a long, long time.
Excellent construction here, this cigar has a great draw that produces billowing clouds of dense smoke, and burns clean and straight for quite a long time for a Toro...I became so wrapped-up in the experience that I lost track of time.
The flavor starts of with a kick, but it's not overdone, or the least bit "raw" like a Joya Antano etc. (though I have to admit that I like a cigar that's a little on the 'brutal' side), the flavor just keeps coming.
I am an avid fan of fine tea, and while tasting this cigar a comment from my tea experiences came to mind: "the harder it is to describe the flavor of your tea, the chances are that it's of superior quality"...consequently, this cigar is one hard cigar to describe. Yes, it tastes like tobacco, but it doesn't taste like anything else out there that I can summon in my faculties: all I can say is that this is a very unique and generously complex cigar that seems to "have it all", totally blew-away the Padron 2000 Maduro that I smoked the other day, and the Padron was excellent.
This cigar is well-balanced, has earthiness, sweetness, spice, and the "mouth-feel" is full: you really know that you're smoking something when you're smoking one of these, it's satisfying like a five-course meal, a total "turn off the telephone and don't answer the door" kind of smoke; it is full flavored, with ample strength, but is never out of control, and each draw makes you crave the next....maybe I'll time the burn-duration and count the draws next time.
The only downside of these is that I only have a few left, and I can't wait to get my hands on them (and I don't want to run out...but there's just no way I'm going to be able to keep my hands off of these), and I can't stop thinking about the next time I get the opportunity to smoke one again!

The cigar version of Johnny Walker Red

This may be a good cigar if it set in the humidor for a couple of years but out of the box it is extremely rough. There is some redeeming flavor underneath but this cigar just seems overpowering due to its harshness.
