GOOD ALL-AROUND SMOKE

I made a blind bid on a box of these in the auction house as I had never smoked one and there are no Famous reviews. Cigar Insider, however, rated it at 87 with the comments "Solidly constructed with a yellowish, veiny wrapper. The draw has wheaty, woody notes that are a touch dry. A medium-bodied cigar." That was enough for a shot if the price was right.
When they arrived a couple of days later (Famous is great for fast shipping!) I took one out and lit her up. YUK! I didn't care for it at all. It had no taste, was dry, and a little bitter on the finish. So I threw the rest of the box into the humidor to sit awhile.
A week later, I am sitting here smoking the second stick and boy, what a change!!! The cigar lives up to the Cigar Insider description plus some. A nice, mellow smoke with a subtle bouquet that has an easy draw and doesn't bite at all. These can be smoked any time of day, but early morning and late night would be best.
The only negative about the stick is that it burns a bit unevenly.
If you like a good-tasting mellow cigar, this one's for you!

You can do better

These were ok, the flavor was a bit bitter. The draw was ok. The burn was terrible. I actually had to put it out, trim the damn thing and start again. I wouldn't throw away one given to me, but I will be spending my money on other cigars

my new favorite

Overall great cigar! Everything is great about this cigar. The draw is very easy and smooth and finishes out really, really smooth. Taste is wonderful and not too strong. Burn is consistent and doesn't hollow out on you. There is nothing bad to say about this one in my opinion! All Don Diego's are a really good choice! This will definetely be one of my main smokes from now on!

Flavorful, mild, and consistent

I've been buying the 5 packs and liked them so much, I popped for the box. Good, consistent, end of the day with a cup of Joe, cigar. Corona's are also good....

Grandee is Dandee

If your looking for a good mild, mellow but flavorful cigar the Don Diego Grandee is an excellent choice. Have had few other DD cigars that were just too mild and flat, however the Grandee, (perhaps because of the larger ring guage), is mild, flavorful, and definately NOT flat. Nice smoke for the morning with a cup of coffee, or whenever a powerhouse cigar just doesn't fit.

Great Cigar

I bought a 5 pack to try and was so pleased. This is a great tasting cigar at a very reasonable price. Nice draw, flavor, smell, burn and size at a great price. This may very well become my daily smoke. You must give these a try.

Top Shelf Cigar!

Great mild cigar. Easy draw, beautiful wrapper, perfect burn, delightful aroma, and a wonderful taste. What else do you want and at these prices you can make it your everyday smoke . . . in fact, I think I will!

Top quality, mild cigar

Nice smoking experience. Even consistent burn, excellent draw, light mild smooth taste. Began to fall apart near the end. Overall a very pleasant smoking experience with a glass of fine Porto on a summerer eve.

My new "everyday" smoke

Received the Grande in a sampler and it's one of the best of the bunch. Perfect draw, mild, yet full of flavor. The pleasure lasted right to the end. The Don Diego Grande is likely to become my stock cigar to anchor my humidor.

excellent buy

Pleasant cigar, definitely on the mild side but burn and draw were very good. This is one of the better Dominicans out there in this price range. Can't go wrong with it.

not a fan...

only other "good" cigar ive ever tried was the acid kuba kuba and i thought it was good. i picked up a couple of these babies, and honestly i didnt like them at all. they burned real slow which was nice, but the taste was real harsh i ended up getting rid of it before it was done. im not sure if it was the sun grown or not but i know they were babies. anyways i wasnt impressed, next up is the AVO #2 hopefully that will be good.

Just another good Don Diego

I had tried the Don Diego Babies sun grown and liked them a lot for a quick smoke. I purchased a couple of the Petit Coronas to give them a try. Smooth, nice draw, mild. I only smoke one of two cigars on the commute to and from work and truely the Don Diego Petit Corona has taught me how to drive 55 again!! Give it a try for a good 20-30 minute smoke. This stick will not disappoint ya.

Mild and affordable

I bought these as an everyday cigar for my dad because he prefers a mild panatella with an easy draw. These are tasty without being harsh or hot. He was very happy with these cigars and will continue to purchase them.

Surprising step-child!

The Don Diego Torpedo and an older brother sat in my humidor as I worked around them for years. The older brother was a thinner, shorter cigar, and with a claro wrapper no less. That cigar must have sat in my humidors for six years or more. It was cracked and flaking, but I finally girded myself to put the step-child out of its misery like I had its prettier cousins. I enjoyed that cigar thoroughly, and smoked it down to my fingers. It was very smooth, and perfect for a hot day working on the landscape. The torpedo the following weekend was equally superb for the same task. That too singed my fingers before I could part with it. Now with a two cigar trend going, I will surely smoke another Don Diego soon, and perhaps start buying by the box!
