Great smoke

Real nice cigar when you don't have the time
for a big stoogie. Better after few months aging,
But I've been smoking them out of the box without
any problems.

Taste okay but terrible draw

I ordered these last year, they were on back order so I waited. When I received them they looked great. The only bone with these cigars is the draw is terrible. I have aged these over a year @ 65% and the draw has stayed the same.

If you wait, they're really great

Great value, sent quickly. They were really too moist to smoke at first as expected, but wait 2 weeks at 65% or less out of the cello with the lid off the box. Your wait will be rewarded with a dark coffee roasted flavor that burns slow, flaky ash, draw will be med/firm, but the sticks are hard & well constructed. Not too strong for me but not a morning smoke! My local B&M guys were scared of the dark toothy wrapper, but also impressed at the price for a FBM 40 count!

This cigar confused me. I'm not sure what I got.

This cigar confused me. I'm not sure what I got. I thought I was getting an Oscuro, which I thought meant it would have a near black wrapper, i.e. like what was shown in the picture on the website. Instead, I got a cigar with a very light wrapper. Although I know some Oscuro wrappers are darkened naturally as opposed to the process in maduros, there was nothing Oscuro about this cigar . . . in color and taste. It was an okay cigar, but not great. I would only order them again if I was guarenteed they would, indeed, be a very dark Oscuro with all the intense and wonderful aromas and tastes that go with it.

Decent

These are decent little smokes.
They lean towards medium and usually do have that good twangy Nicaraguan flavor.
Though in this last batch some of them tended to taste and smell a little funky.
They burn good, are constructed good and usually taste pretty darn good.
They are an excellent value
I hope Famous doesnt screw them up.

Hmmmm,
These are usually pretty good powerful little smokes.
But this last batch I had was pretty bad, Flavor was just plain harsh and couldnt
Keep em lit to save my life
bad burn, no real Flavor Even after two months at 65%.
I pitched more of em than I smoked!
Come on Famous, You can do better than this! Those of us who like these little suckers
Really like them!

A deep, smooth, rich-tasting smoke

A smoke that's smooth, with a surplus of deep, rich, dark tobacco flavor, and a touch of sweet dark chocolate. Volumes of billowing clouds of smoke. Very cool burning for a 4-inch cigar. As a matter of fact, it smokes like a much larger cigar in every way. Highly recommended at the price per cigar. All-in-all, it's a fantastic, smaller, rich, flavorful smoke.

What a deal!

When I bought these on Cigar Monster, I figured I couldn't go wrong on the price, and free shipping to boot. My usual cigars are Fuente, RP, Gurkha, CAO, La Flor Dominicana, etc. but I try to save those better brands for when I can sit and really enjoy them. I figured these would be good for every day and work. No disappointment here with these. I smoked 2 yesterday afternoon after receiving them, and was pleasantly surprised. Good even burn and good flavor. I will be buying these again. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that they are made by Plasencia, I've never gone wrong with their cigars and always wanted to try a maduro from them. Tastes like good Nicaraguan tobacco to me!

I've had several from my first box already and they're really pretty decent. Good smell before lit and good after lighting. I've had a few that didn't burn 100% great but they're actually what I've been looking for, a good cigar when I don't have a lot of time. I'll buy more.

These are well worth the wait!

Great, fantastic, delicious, extraordinary,if you age them. Tried one shortly after they arrived and it wasn't very good. After 6 months of aging it is one of the best cigars around at any price. Nice draw, very deep rich flavor, huge amounts of smoke and it's not for the timid. These are well worth the wait!

Wow! Great little cigar for the money!

Smoked a couple today after they showed up on my doorstep and gave one to my neighbor. Was worried they might be a bit harsh w/out aging in the humidor, but they were rich and robust without being overpowering. That said, smoking one while trying to work on an outdoor project swingset was a futile effort. Was a bit too strong for that. Sit down and enjoy this shorter smoke for all it is and gives. Thick plumes of rich tasting and even smelling smoke. Can't believe they can sell them for this price. If you like stronger manduros do yourself a favor and try some.

maduro at most. Very nicaraguan flavor profile good construction, even burn, good draw. Should only get better with humy time.

AGE 'EM

I bought 2 boxes of the tucos last year. wasn't really thrilled by them at first, so put to the back of my humidor and forgot about them. found them again, after 8 months of resting, and boy was I surprised. The flavor had mellowed (no harshness), and burn was more even! always was a good looking cigar. they just needed to grow up. the only problem is now I need to buy a couple more boxes to have for New Year's eve!

2 years of aging and they still stink

I bought a box of these two years ago in 2005. The natural versions of these are great, but the maduro version here really stinks. Can you believe that two years of aging has done nothing to curtail the harshness? Yuck! This is the worst cigar that I've ever had.

Pretty good for the price

I Picked up a box of these and I have to say I am not disappointed. Famous lists them as medium strength, but I think they are more a mild or mild-medium. The taste is very pleasant and a little on the sweet side. The only problem I've noticed with them is the inconsistency of each stick. I've only smoked about 5 so far, but almost every one had spots that were rolled very loose. It didn't really adversely affect the burn too much, but made for a smoke that didn't last as long as it should have. Overall though a very good smoke for about a buck a stick.

I like the texture and color, though they are not oscuros. The taste is harsh and bad. I hope I can age they. The burn was off but the draw ok. My least favorite cigar in a longtime. Agian, maybe they will age. p

I have had these cigars for almost two years and..

I've had the cattivo neros aging in my humidor for nearly two years now, and they are still hit or miss, mostly miss. Most good maduros have a sweet flavor to them without much bitterness (Tabamex makes an excellent maduro for the money). I have good luck with most Famous house brands, but this is subpar at best.

Not what I expected but cheap n cheerful

Hardly an oscuro are the one's I rec'd, more like a maduro and lighter than some of those too. They just aren't ready to smoke yet (which needed pointing out before purchasing) and as others have said can burst a lung trying to draw on them.
perhaps Famous is money grabbing too much with its cheap cigars with their names stuck on the box or a lay down like a good wine should be added??

NOT true!

The fact that I wound up purchasing two boxes is my fault...wasn't paying close enough attention to the 'Yankee' auction. However, there is NOTHING accurate in the description of this cigar. There is no taste of any significance, and, the burn was atrociously uneven when it could be kept lit.
If this cigar is to be representative of the 'Famous' brand; then, I would encourage all to avoid 'Famous' anything, and, stick with the known brands.

Jury's Still Out

Can't get a decision on this one. A bit spongey. A bit harsh. An uneven burn. A good taste. A nice enough looker. All in all, not great, but not terrible as a short smoke either. Give it a try. You might like it. On the other hand, you might not. Caveat emptor!

Flip-flopper

This used to be a pretty decent smoke for the money, but lately their seems to be consistency problems in my orders. Taste can run from pleasent to rancid. Draw quality is a crap shoot; about ten to thrity percent of last few orders were rolled so tight, a decent draw was all but impossible. Depending on roll, ash could be anywhere from a nice, smooth even burn to canoeing, striping, or tunneling.
No amount of dry-out time has helped. In most cases, it affected the flavor negatively.
I could return them, but it's such a hassle and have tossed so many of the unsmokeable ones out of sheer frustration. In the future, I'm going to mail the unsmokeable ones back FSS and let them deal with it. Either way, I lose money.
You would think a cigar ought to be smokeable. Gee, what a novel concept.

Suprisingly pleasurable and well worth the cost.

I was apprehensive at first because of the quantity per dollar but was looking for a good, short, not bitter, stick. Upon opening the box the scent of the cigars was wonderful, the texture or feel of them was good. After having a few of them, I found them to be consistent in taste and quite enjoyable to smoke. Great ash too. Not too short, not too long, just right for a quickie 30 minute smoke. I know I'll have to get more and keep a supply on hand. Good every day cigar.

Review of Buenos and Cattivo Nero

I got a box of these little gems and I must say that I have enjoyed smoking them. Great construction, perfect draw. The flavor did have a little bit of a bite to it when I first got them, but a little time in the humidor smoothed that problem out. Very nice 20 to 25 minute cigar.
I got 5 singles of the Cattivo Neros to give them a try also. The first one was good. Nice burn, good draw, alright flavor. As for the rest, I could not get any to draw. I tried but nothing worked to get a better draw so I just gave the last 2 away. Don't think I'll try them again.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time smoking this cigar. Inconsistent, it sometimes burns badly and the draw can be sometimes too tight. Beyond that, the taste is full of enjoyable flavor. Sit back with your favorite beverage and this cigar.

Cattivo Nero, needs aging to smooth it out

I had the natural version of this first. Smooth right out of the box (the UPS box that is!). This maduro corona needs a few months in the humidor. A little harsh right out of the box, but I tried one a couple of months later and it's getting better.

1st time I smoked a 60. Fat isnt the word. Burn was a bit uneven. Flavor was very complex, tasty, very nice smoke. Wrapper and overall construction was superb. Draw was a little tight, loosened up over time.

True to their name, good little maduros

Buenos Maduritos-What can I say, they are true to their name, good little maduros. A must try for anyone who (like me) favors strong, flavorful maduro wrapper cigars. Whoa...these babies aren't for the timid!!

You slide open the box, separate the tissue, and wonder how celloed small cigars can have such a rich aroma. I slowly toasted the foot, and, literally, felt the fragrance. From the first draw on this little cigar, I knew I'd come upon, perhaps, a cigar with the fullest body I'd smoked in over forty years. On the power scale of 1 to 10, with a Macanudo Hyde Park rated as a 2, this little cigar would be a 10. Draw was perfect, and the burn was absolutely straight. But!! This cigar is not for the casual cigar smoker. It's for those who require a powerful smoke and have been searching high and low to find one. Now, the folks at Famous have to get these made in a 5.5 x 46 Cuban Corona.

One tasty little powerhouse

My first reaction to this cigar was - Wow! Mild cigar smokers will probably find this cigar a little imtimidating, but for the experienced smoker, this cigar is a real treat. Great pre-light aroma, great appearance, lots of smoke and an intriguing flavor make this a cigar to add to your regular rotation. The Madurito is a full-bodied and full-flavored cigar in a small package, great for a short smoke after a big dinner. The closest cigar I can compare this to is a cross between a CAO Brazilia Piranha and an Opus xXx Power Ranger. Highly recommended.

Big Taste in a little package!

I have only smoked one TKO in my life and that was last week so I am no expert but these cigars taste very similar to what I remember the TKO tasting like.
The construction is top notch and the burn is even. This little bugger is producing huge volumes of smoke. I would put this cigar just a hair under strong in the strength category. Its not in the same league as JDN or ERH but its very full bodied and I have a lump in the back of my throat that I normally get with strong gars.
