Hamiltons House Selection Cigars

I agree with the other reviews

This is not a very good cigar, I usually read the smokers reviews before I purchase, but I did not do it this time. These aren't good and it's not worth elaborating. Avoid them. George Hamilton should stick to acting, as his cigar is a turd.

Extremely Bad product

Yuk, Puthoy, Auk, this was a very bad experience for a smoker! Lousy construction, poor burn, bitter taste...not sure anything else could go wrong in a cigar. Avoid this one even at the price it is a waste of good money.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by dakwray of Sunny SoCal on June 15, 2008

**Avoid** Terrible

Gave the Hamilton Toro's a try as an auction special. I should have read the reviews first. I compare the Hamilton Toro to an El Producto Blunt.(sarcasm) Very similiar in taste, with the exception of the El producto being a fraction of the price. I smoked a portion of one and threw away the remaining 24 cigars. I switched from JR cigar to Famous Smoke Shop. After this experience I might switch back.

not bad

got a 5-pack of these in an auction. smoked my 1st yesterday and was pretty happy with it. now, this is not a top-shelf or even mid-shelf smoke, but it's not bad for the money. in my case, it burned evenly and most importantly, it tasted decent. no sweetness, but the cardboard flavor i've come to expect in cheap smokes was extremely muted in this brand. the smoke even had a creamy quality to it and its draw was effortless to produce a great plume of smoke. i dare say that i had a better time puffing on it than i did the flavor. but all in all, i'm happy with this buy - just don't go getting your expectations unrealistically high.

For a buck these are over priced!

At this price point there are soo many better cigars you should read no further.....go. I mean leave now.!

Decent tasting lousy burning cigar

if you can get this cigar in the 2 dollar price range its a satisfying smoke, although it will canoe as none of the 4 ive had so far have burned smoothly, they've all had canoed. licking it down helps to a dgree with this cigar, but its not a top grade premium, however it does possess a decent tasting smoke.

Going Back Two Years to Find a So-So Review

Come on Famous, you had to go back over TWO YEARS to get even a So-So review of Hamilton House cigars for your Monster Sale for today. You bypassed two years of truthful, but bad reviews, to say: "A good everyday smoke with a couple of months in your humi. Very nice." by Dave of Sydney Au on December 31, 2006. What about the Three YEARS in your professional Humi? It doesn't help PERIOD! And he's even from the other side of the world. Famous you are the best internet supplier of fine cigars. STOP undercutting your credibility by putting something like this in your emails.

I think not!

Hmm, was thinking about trying them but after seeing nothing but bad reviews I think not.... No wonder they are giving them away if they are that awful, hehe.

No matter how much you paid, you paid too much!

Even if you bid $3 AND GET a box of 20 you over paid. Famous is a great site to get fine cigars. But these have the be the worst ever. They even make machine made a good buy.

Baaaad

From a novice smoker....just plain bad. Draw was okay but burn was terrible. I don't even know how to comment on the taste. Not even worth the $3. Rececived it in a sampler and will not buy another sampler with this cigar in it.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Eric of Cherry Pt. on October 4, 2007

Not Again

Poor construction as the cigar literally fell apart as I smoked it and the draw was uneven at best. Taste was OK but these cigars can be best left to your cigar mooching buddies.

You get what you pay for

I bought these on a low price deal. Not a deal! They were fast burning, dry fair flavor. I would not buy again at any price. I gave most of the box away. When will I learn you get what you pay for.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by Carl Pfeiffer of OR on September 13, 2007

Famous, AGAIN! Please

Average of 30 customers: 3.22 stars. This is a funny way of saying that 50% of customers rated this smoke bekow 6.45 out of ten. That is really a sub-standard rating. Hamiltions are just bad cigars. Read what Famous customers have writen. It would be better in the monster deals just to say nothing of the ratings. Famous you are one, if not the best, place to buy cigars. Don't cheapin yourselves by hyping the Hamiltons as good or great cigars.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by CgarSmoker of Reno, NV on August 21, 2007

NASTY

Don't buy it, don't try and smoke it if someone is giving you one for free. I smoke something nice like a Julietta and pass one of the Hamis to some joker that likes to mooch during the game, match, race or night out. Then sit back enjoy both shows and smile. Just feel good your're not smoking the Hami sac.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Tray of Michigan on August 17, 2007

Who is Famous trying to kid

What in the world is this Monster Deal at 3 1/2 stars? Read the reviews and how on earth can Famous say the reviews give it such a high rating?

This review was written about Hamiltons House Double Corona by CgarSmoker of Reno, NV on July 17, 2007

Stay Away! George should stick to acting.

This cigar looks decent, has a great sales ad, and is pretty inexpensive. Unfortunately, you won't want to smoke it it's that bad.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo 5 Pack by RayD of Danielson CT on June 2, 2007

not good enough for house guests

Poor construction, uneven burn, hard to keep lit, very little taste up front, very bitter taste at back. Aside from all that, a truly rotten cigar. Glad I only got a 5 pack.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro 5 Pack by Ed Davis of AR on March 5, 2007

You got to be kidding

If you smoked Phillies all your life then this might be a fair cigar. If you smoked a cheap $19/bundle cigars then this Hamilton would be on par. These have got to be some of the worst hand made cigars in the world. In the early 2000s (2000 - 2001) Hamiltons were advertised as last ones made buy them now or you will not be able to get any more. How come 5 or 6 years later they are still here. And always on "Cigar Sales" NEVER at reqular price. That should tell you something about this cigar.

This is a good everyday smoke after a couple of months in your Humi.Very nice

What do you think, Junk?

Look at these reviews. I ended up buying a box because they were made at the Davidoff factory (the Reserve line that is, said to be the best of the lot). Big Mistake! These have got to be some of the worst cigars ever. Look at the reviews, all over the place. From not bad to .... . Just ask yourself, do you ever see any other brand with these types of reviews? Enough said!

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo 5 Pack by CgarSmoker of Reno, NV on December 4, 2006

Choose something else

I found this cigar to be poorly constructed ans consistently poorly- and unevenly-burning. The taste is reasonably good, but construction and aesthetics do not meet expectations.

this is a very good cigar for the money, good burn and nice solid build. Most enjoyable smoke.

Not worth it.

This cigar is not worth a dollar a stick. The burn is so horrible I can't give these away. Do yourself a favor: save your money.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo by Trayson S of Michigan on October 3, 2006

Not a bad cigar

I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews but tried one any way. This cigar has grown to be one of my favorites. I was very happy with the taste and the construction of the cigar. After trying many cigars, this one will definitely be in my humidor.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo by Rich of SO Burlington, VT on September 24, 2006

Not great, but not as terrible as it sounds...

Let's face it this ain't a great cigar, but I don't think it's as terrible as the reviews on here make it out to be. I had a Torpedo, the burn was reasonably even, the draw was a bit hard, but the taste was alright. I didn't notice the 'chemical' taste people talk about. The taste is pretty sweet, with a hint of peppery spice that lingers. I think that the main problem with this brand may be that the quality from cigar to cigar is very uneven. Perhaps I just got lucky, and others got unlucky?

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo by John Wait of PA on August 25, 2006

Awful

I got some of these in a sampler. I now know to NEVER have one of these again. The taste was awful with a strange chemical taste that I can't really describe. The draw and burn were adequate. The appearance was awful as this was a cigar that was uglier than sin. I will not allow this to ever get into my humidor next to my Ashton VSGs, Montecristo Whites, CAO Brazilias and Italias, and my various Rocky Patels. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this at any price.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo by Jason of Louisiana on July 23, 2006

Much better than it used to be.

Much better cigar than the other Hamilton House Selections and much better than it used to be. Even burn, mild but reasonable flavor, solid, long ash, good construction. Still not outstanding because of slightly boring flavor, but much better than before and reasonably priced.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by Overworked of CA on March 23, 2006

best of the regular Hamiltons

This is the best of the regular Hamilton House: good construction, perfect draw, slightly uneven burn which corrected itself, not much flavor for first half, but finished stronger, last three inches were good. Mild, but with a kick (not surprising, given the size.)

This review was written about Hamiltons House Double Corona by Overworked of CA on February 5, 2006

mushy, inconsistent packing, uneven burn

In contrast to the Hamilton House Robusto recently sampled, the torpedo was loosely and unevenly packed. Draw was easy, but it was impossible to smoke evenly. The filler was not accordion pleated, but single, off-center fan-fold. I have purchased completely off-brand long leaf hand made cigars of much higher quality. Sad.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Torpedo by Overworked of CA on January 25, 2006

plugged solid

The cigar was completely, solidly plugged: hard draw, no smoke, just moisture. After drilling, there were some pleasant aromas, but still very little smoke. Then the wrapper disintegrated. I gave up and threw it out. I'll try some of the other sizes in the 11 stick sampler, to be fair.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Overworked of CA on January 24, 2006

Garbage!!!!

They are not worth the box they came in!been smoking cigars for 30 years and these rank with the top 3 worse cigars I ever smoked!

This review was written about Hamiltons House Corona by Steven of NJ on December 4, 2005

Decent Cigar

Not a bad cigar. There are some really terrible reviews which I don't understand. It's not something you write home about, but it was a pleasant, mild-medium body smoke that you can enjoy during the day.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro 5 Pack by Stacey of Houston on November 30, 2005

Yup, pretty bad.

I received two of these in a sampler. I now know enough to toss a Hamilton House cigar the next time I see it. I had read the reviews before smoking one and figured I'd try for myself. I had let both relax in my humidor for 3 months so there is really no excuse. The draw was okay, the burn was adequate, but what an ugly and poor tasting cigar. I'm not sure what that chemical flavor was, but it was terrible. The cigar had a funny appearance and the construction was anything but as a premium cigar should be. I have thrown the other one away as it has no business being in my humidor with my CAO Brazilias, Montecristo Whites, Cohibas, and all my other REAL cigars. I did not want this abomination infecting my beauties. STAY AWAY FROM THIS.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Jason of Louisiana on July 17, 2005

Live and Learn

Life is to short to smoke bad cigars. I got a 5 pack on the auction. I smoked two to give them a fair evaluation. I plan on throwing the other three away and smoking the pretty cigar band on them. Next time George IV should insist they spend the money on good tobacco instead of pretty cigar bands!

Save Your Money

I thought I'd take a chance with these since they were on sale (or had a promotion going, whatever). Save your money. These things pass for cigars only because they're brown and shaped like a cylinder. They did real well when they were lit, then things went downhill from there. The taste never lived up to the beautiful band, which is actually quite colorful. I can name several bundle cigar brands that do much better than these, with a price to match. So this is my first and last fling with anything named "Hamilton House."

HORRIBLE!!

I really enjoyed the H.H. Robusto, so thought I'd try some of these Double Corona's, LOUSY!!! Inconsistant burn, NO taste, hard to draw, won't stay lit.Bad choice by far, the worst I've ever had. Stupid me, but I kept the whole box rather that sending it back......Never again.

Awful!

Just for the sake of being fair and objective, I have tried this brand on several occasions in 3 or 4 different sizes. NO MO'! It's awful! I cannot even recommend accepting freebies.

Nice Cigar

Bought in a sampler pack. Nice burn, easy draw. Starts spicy and then becomes mild over time. Fair construction, but for the price, not a bad cigar. I would consider buying a box when I have room in my humidor.

Most excellent smoke and quality

I have been smoking sticks for a while, and when I came across these in Las Vegas, NV. I really enjoyed them. I have finally found a store that sells them cheaper (alot cheaper!) I can't beileve that the other guy's have complaints about the Hamilton House Robusto, Very nice constuction, semi spicy Sumatra wrapper, and an EXCELLENT taste, along with an even burn. great Purro. I love it!!

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Roger of Hesperia, CA on December 27, 2004

The draw and burn were OK. The taste was TERRIBLE! Left a bad after taste in the mouth. Even with some fine brandy - a bad cigar. Stay away.

My Favorite

I found this nice mild cigar in a sampler pack the I had purchased. It has become my favorite and many of my friends enjoy it too. Reasonably priced, and a personal substitute for the Cohiba robusto.

GARBAGE

It tasted like dirty socks, the wrapper fell apart, and I had to re-light once. I would have had to re-light more, but I had no desire to continue smoking this ugly, awful thing.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Rob Whitman of MI on June 22, 2004

UNCOUTH!

Rough wrapper, easy hot draw with an uneven burn. Kinda dry even after a few weeks in my hunidor. Just another poor excuse for a cigar. Good buy for a bunch of high school grads but not for a mature smoker!

The Robusto was great.

I have just finished a 12 pack of different brands, one of the cigars was the Robusto. I rate it as good or better than some of the more expensive brands. They burn good and easy draw.I am now ordering a box of the Robesto.

great cigar

I've been smoking cigars for 37 years, and the torpedo is one of the best. It's a great value with good flavor, good construction and burn. Keep these guys in stock!

$14.95 Value???????????

Got my Hamilton Robusto along with a LaFloridita Robusto as a Famous substitute for the cigar cutter and travel tube I should have gotten with a sampler pack I ordered. I would have preferred the tube and cutter instead of this "$14.95 value". In fact, I might have preferred smoking the cigar cutter than this bitter, poorly constructed cigar.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Jim Toigo of Green Bay, WI on November 18, 2003

Save Your $, better values are here

If these are a $156.00 box retail, then George H. has quite an ego or Famous made a big mistake. They are in fact a $2 cigar before any discount. If you don't mind a taste change from just "OK" to "bitter" half way through and a little light on any flavor characteristics to begin then this is your smoke. There are much better values in Famous' sampler packs of the better brands. Pay attention to the ratings and you will be led wisely.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by J Roberts of Bha'm. AL on July 15, 2003

Excellent everday cigar.

This cigar is better than some of the more expensive cigars in my humidor. I am on my third box, and have made it my everyday cigar. Construction and burn are good quality. Taste, for me, is excellent. I would recommend these to anyone. They are not the best cigars I have had, but for the price they are the best everyday cigar I have had.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Corona by John of Fishers, Indiana on March 7, 2003

Great value

Guys you don't get Macanudo or Fuente for $30 a box but for a bundle price this is a great cigar. Do yourself a favor when you buy these and smoke two just to be sure that you didnt just get a bad batch but then let them age unwrapped for an extra month or two to even out the moisture and settle down a bit. You'll be surprized how often you go back to these cigars for when you just want to sit and have a smoke that you can enjoy without thinking about how good it better be for the price you paid. My experience is if you cut them right, give them a nice even light and just relax with your book or thoughts that this is a nice mediun to light bodied cigar that you can smoke to the nub. They aren't a 10 by any stretch of the imagination but they are a lot better than a lot of more expensive smokes I've had. When I want a cigar experience I go to my Fuentes and Avos. When I just want a good solid smoke I'll be turning to these more often. Give then a good home and treat them right and they'll be like you middle kid - not outstanding or exceptional in any way, not the worthless underachiever - just a solid everyday performer that you can count on being there.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Corona by GregG of Chicago, IL on February 14, 2003

Great little smoke for the money.

The wrapper and overall appearance of the cigar was beautiful. The cigar smoked evenly and drew smoothly. The taste was rich for a cigar costing so little. The cigar was not as tightly wrapped as some of your more expensive top shelf brands but there again for the cost it was fine. I will be buying these again for those times when I just want to enjoy a cigar but don't have my heart set on something expensive.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Double Corona by Russell Wilder of Evans Georgia on December 16, 2002

Terrible

Bought a box of the toros and was very unhappy with them. I understand that not all cigars can be top notch but these were unsmokable, hard as a rock with no draw at all and a terible aftertaste. I thought they might be over humidified so I left them sit in a humidor at around 60% humidity for a month with no improvement. I should have sent them back. I can' afford to waste money.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by Rich Grassia of Mullicas Hill NJ on December 13, 2002

Great Cigar

I just finished one box of Toros and one of Robustos. I realize that in cigars, tastes are subjective but I was amazed that these cigars would draw any unfavorable reviews. Mine have all been good drawing, even burning, and the taste - WOW. Sure, you can buy a more expensive cigar and sometimes get a better smoke, but these are a great value. My first cigar was almost 40 years ago and I have smoked perhaps a hundred different brands, so the comment that only an inexperienced cigar smoker would care for these is simply not true.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by Randy of Mukwonago WI on November 29, 2002

Save your money

I was very disapointed with these weeds. You name it draw, taste, apperance, constuction, all all rated very poorly. You would be better off smoking a rolled up dish rag.Save your buck and a half

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by Roy S. of New Britain Ct. on September 29, 2002

not quite as good as it gets...

I would classify this cigar as a 'good' smoke, not quite on par with an equivalent macanudo. Following a half dozen of these smokes, I've found the burn to be somewhat inconsistent; some better than others. The wrappers have been somewhat veiny, and otherwise not quite as attractive as other sticks from the same batch. This cigar provides a free draw for the most part and the ash is less than firm. All said, this is a very decent cigar for the money, and I would recommend it for those who enjoy a daily smoke or two. Keep up the good work, FSS

This review was written about Hamiltons House Robusto by jim h of detroit, mi on September 27, 2002

Decent flavor. Disappointed with consistency.

Smoked six from a box so far. Enjoyable flavor, inconsistent draw. Last one I smoked got so hot from the heavy draw I through it away. Have also had two to start canoeing about half way through. Probably won't buy them again.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Toro by Roger of Colorado on September 4, 2002

Pleasantly Surprised....

I recently purchased a box of the Hamilton House Torpoedo cigars (my first purchase of this brand). Considering the price of $39 complemented with the buy a box-get a free box deal that Famous-smoke offered I was quite pleased with the return on my small investment. Regarding the particulars of the cigar, I found that they have smoked well overall. With a proper cut, I found the burn and draw of each cigar to be consistent and free. Each cigar I have inspected has had a consistent wrapper, roll, feel and appearance. I would classify this cigar as mild, having a pleasent and smooth flavour during its smoke and leaves you with little after-taste. It can be smoked right out of the box but like any cigar it can be improved by allowing it to mature unwrapped in a good humidor for a couple months. I have shared several with friends and have yet to receive a unfavourable assessment. This is a good "all-occassion cigar." Whether smoked alone, or with a good scotch in the company of friends, this cigar will not embarrass you or leave you dissapointed.

Very Impressed

Bought 2 boxes when they were BOGO. Haven't smoked too many brands, but these are one of the best i've had in my opinion. Medium bodied, good taste, great smell. Definitely couldn't beat the price of 90 cents each. Lasts quite a long time at that. Much better than Dominiques.

This review was written about Hamiltons House Corona by Chris of Toms River, NJ on July 31, 2002

Burns better than it tastes

Ugly cap. kind of vieney. Burned flawlessly which suprised me. Wood, earth and a slight pepper sensation toward the middle. Not my cup of tea, but for some, with its good price, it would make a good golf course smoke--6.8

OK But...

... sometimes burns inconsistantly. Hard to draw at times. Still, a good smoke. You may want to try a larger size for more flavor.

At $50 a box...O'k.

Purchased a box of Coronas and Torpedos. Finished both. Easily rate both as, o'k, especially for the discounted price. But are no comparison for Fuente, Macanudo, or similar brands. Easy draw; satisfactory, but not great, construction. Mild to medium slight spice flavor. Only real problem...did not have an even burn on any cigar. Had to "even out" and re-light each cigar, at least once. Consequently, a cigar for doing handyman chores.

GREAT EVERDAY SMOKE

This was a great smoke from start to finish. It has just the right balance to smoke at any part of the day, but I do like to smoke something a little more bold after a meal. I thought it was well constructed for a stick that is under $2. I will definitely return to this cigar.

Only thing nice is the band and the packaging.

Bought a box from another online dealer for $39. what a waste. Terrable burn, hot easy draw, poorly constructed, bitter taste, soft and rough looking. Left in humi for a month, best it got was bearable. This is a NEVER BUY with me.Anyone want the rest.

Price = Quality

An OK cigar, but Montecristo #2 doesn't have to be worried about competition. I gave some to a friend, who reports the same things I've noticed: inconsistent burn & draw, pleasant flavor, great price. A trade-off that illustrates the adage about getting what you pay for.
