A little dissapointed in RP and indian tabac boxer

I was a little dissapointed in the Boxer.. In the robusto it lacks flavor early and then builds as you smoke. All was fine until the last 1/3 of the stick. The stick began to get hot, and kept getting hotter until i had to set it down. The favor, once it builds, is a nice peppery, smooth flavor. the smoke is plentyful, and the draw is pretty good. It does have a tendency to canoe(of the 10 i have 3 have already had issue with canoeing of varying degrees.). The canoeing issue may have to do with the Corojo wrappers as they are thick veined wraps. the fill is somewhat stemed as well, and can be distracting when pulling on the stick(actually had to spit out a piece of stem that came loose).
These sticks are an low end budget everyday smoke ,and should be recognized as such. These are definitly not a "quality" or "premium" cigar. If you pay more than $1 - $1.30 a you've paid too much. My advice is grab these when on auction . they're not a bad smoke, just not a good smoke for the money..

Tough to beat

Not a cigar to write poetry about, but a mighty fine day to day cigar. Aged a year, they get even better! A loyal smoker.

Still the One

The IT Tomohawk became my go-to cigar several years ago, and it remains a mainstay in my humidor. Whenever I light one up, I never have to wonder about what kind of smoking experience it will be. The Tomahawk flawlessly delivers a rich, spicy smoke that is always satisfying. Rocky Patel has introduced a lot of great new blends, but I think his original is still the best.

Nice, sweet.. smooth.. not too strong nor too limp

This is a great little cigar.. I've had good even burns most of the time. The flavor is sweet, but not too sweet, flavorful, but not to harsh.. A good 35-40 min smoke. Draws well without burning the tongue. (Can't say that for all RP's stuff) I like it for an anytime right priced.

The 'Mezcal' of mild cigars.

The Boxer had a medium flavor starting out, and progressed to a more even, mild flavor after the first inch. It remained at this smooth, creamy, level, with a hint of pepper on the pallate, down to the last inch. A fine 45 minute smoke.

A classic for all seasons

One of my all-time favorites and a standard cigar that I have purchased for several years. Will continue to buy it until I can no longer smoke.

Stem Filled Gems

The corojo wrappers are delightful and aromatically charged. All 6 of the lot of 10 ive had required cutting the cap and pulling out the large stems from the middle portion of the cut, once this is complete the cigar's construction has a chance of burning evenly. All 6 of the lot ive smoked have had stem issues, every one so far. Canoeing has occured several times however the corojo wrappers stay firmly in place. the blend is tasty and a bit harsh and strong, its not a smooth tasting cigar, it has quite a bite to it, pecular, very pecular. The wrappers add solid taste to the smoke which have a Gem like quality early in the smoke, before the bite begins to kick deep into gear towards the finish. Not great quality for an RP made smoke, however the corojo wrappers are delightful on this boxer cigar, large stems must be worked around to give yourself a chance to enjoy the gem like part of this smoking experience. good luck trying to make the most of these boxer cigars, you'll find the wrapper delightful thru the first half of the smoke, from there its gonna get mam bit rough on the edges with some bite.

Another Great Patel

I got a couple of 5 packs, and let them settle in the humidor, for a month..just enjoying one now..it's so good, I stopped to tell you. Nice afternoon smoke, if you love the heavier cigars. A classic shape, wrapped in a tasty Coroho wrapper. Indian Tabic is one of those real good cigars, at a great price. Beautiful construction, fine draw...I just think they are good.

Better than what was written

I was expecting these to be awfull, from the buyer reviews,
. I even broke my rule of "a month in the Humi first"...at a week in the box, I found them lacking in great burn, but quite a tasty smoke. Would I pay the asking price, NO ! They are a bit more complex than the Extra, Maduro, Indians I love, and I will enjoy this 10 pack of Tee Pee's as well.

Disappointing; bitter.

Very disappointing. I thought this was a pure Honduran but turns out it has Nicaraguan tobacco also. Bitter, as is all Nicaraguan tobacco. Not worth the price.

Perfect draw and burn

I'd never tried these before but one came with the Rocky Patel sampler I bought. This is a very good cigar for a very good price. I'll be getting a box of these next time. Perfect draw and burn, nice spices in the taste.

not bad

A good decent cigar. Not what I would consider full bodied. I LOVE Rocky Patel's edges and Vintage series, but this cigar is in my opinion kinda bland, nothing special about it, but nothing wrong with it. I give these out to friends that visit that want a smoke, and they seem to like em okay. I would not buy them again, just cause they don't have enough character for my taste. They are however very nicely made and come in a very cool box.

Not bad but...

Super Fuerte Natural Robusto is far better. More complex, smoother; the Boxer/Classic seems unfinished compared to the SF, less refined perhaps. The Boxer is not a bad smoke but I won't buy it again. The SF on the other hand, well...already got another box. Nice job Rocky!

Not worth the Hype

Okay, just got a box of these classic boxers about 3 weeks ago, and put them in the Humi to rest. At 1 week I smoked 1, at 2 weeks I smoked 1, and just yesterday, 3 weeks out, I smoked another. So far, I personally feel they have been somewhat dissapointing. I have found the Corojo wrapper to be overly spicey, and the smoke to be somewhat harsh on the palate, with some nicotine burn during the last inch or so of the stogie. I bought a Super Fuerte robusto box at the same time, and so far these have been twice as good, with the smoke being much more mellow, aromatic, and relaxing. The Boxer smoke just seems to be a "tense" experience for lack of better words.
I will continue to let the box rest, and I'm hoping that letting these little guys sleep will mellow out the flavor. In the meantime, the super fuerte make a great everyday smoke.
I will say the construction is fantastic, as I have found most Indian's to be. Although another complaint I have with Indian's seems to be the consistency and evenness of burn. Almost every Indian I have smoked to date has had some uneven burning. I know this isn't the end of the world, but at the same time tobacco's are blended along the length of the smoke to be burned evenly.
Stay tuned, maybe with 3-4 months of rest, these great looking firecrackers will bloom into something more palatable.

One Awsome Cigar

I have just finished my first Indian Tabac Boxer, and what a wonderful cigar it is. Very nice draw, and the taste compares to more spendy cigars. I am very happy that I bought a box of these sweet stogies.

A bit of a dissappointment............

I was a bit disappointed by this cigar. The first one I tried smoked very hot and dry and the leaf tasted young. It also has a soft spot in the middle and burned unevenly. I let the remainder of the 5 pack rest in my humidor for about a month among the Padrons, La Gloria Cubanas, and Baccarats without the cellophane wrappers. I then tried a second one and it was better but still smoked a bit on the hot side and had a very dry finish. The tobacco flavor was much better however and I'd call it somewhere between medium and strong on the taste chart. I'll age the rest of them a while longer and see if that helps the flavor but that won't help the construction any.

Just Not Very Good

I just smoked my first Indian Tabac Classic and was extremely disappointed. Perhaps it was all the positive reviews I read about this cigar, but it simply did not live up to my expectations. The constructions was loose, the flavor wayyyy on the too mild, almost non-existent side ... in short, I felt it was a waste of one of my precious few smoking times. I realize it is a fairly inexpensive cigar but there are many. many in this price range that are considerably better.

Pleasantly Surprised

Full bodied cigar with a great taste - although burn is a little uneven. My newest favorite for a realtively inexpensive cigar. Rocky Patel is doing a great job with their cigars.

One of the best smokes I've had in years!

I bought this brand based on some reviews I had read and let me say I was quite impressed. From start to finish this cigar had a nice, clean draw with no ashy taste to be found. A great find considering the price. I can't wait to smoke them again.

One of the Best!

The Indian Tabac Classic Chief is the cigar you always seem to be searching for. It is perfectly constructed, the draw is easy, and the flavor is medium. It burns smoothly right to the very end. A great cigar at a very reasonable price.

The Boxer is truly a "classic" cigar... a beauty to look at, even burn, easy lush draw, tons of smooth smoke with a hint of pepper... great aroma.. one of my favorite smokes...

Good smoke

I tried one of the Boxers when the owner of the local cigar shop that I buy from suggested it. Very well constructed, very firm, felt like a Dunhill Signed Range. Yet the draw was effortless and it burned very evenly. Good full flavored taste, consistent through the entire smoke. I went back and bought a few more to see how they compare later after a while in my humidor. You should, too!
