Montesino Cigars

Wow!

my friend and i went cigar shopping and it was the first thing i saw, so i figured id try it. not disappointed at all, great buy for $2.10. the taste was amazing and it wasn't harsh at all, only problem was that it kinda fell apart when i was halfway done

Good value

The Diplomatico maduro is a good value cigar, tastes good, burns well, well constructed and well priced. True to the Fuente family tradition of quality cigars.

Proceed with causion

First let me say, Im fairly new as a cigar smoker (less than 1 year), now I picked up a bundle of these and found them a little inconsistent. I equate these with my ROLY #2, which did not live up to my expectations per reviews. First, love them, they are not very attractive to look at, the picture is to good for them, the burn is a little uneven at times. I've found that they do mellow out some after I put them in the humidor for 3 weeks. So as an amateur I would say, they are cheap and could be an ok smoke if your not looking for excellences. Would I purchase these again, (YES), if I plan to put them way for 3-6 weeks before smoking them. If your not will to do that don't waste your time. They seem to be to unpredictable for the short hall. For the long haul a cheap investment but nothing special! By the way, they will not impress your friends, so don't go there!

Not worth the money

I was very disapointed with these cigars, especially since they carry the Montesino brand. They burn badly, need to be relit constantly, and are a very loose wrap. I will not reorder.

Consistent and Affordable - Great Smoke

I've smoked both the natural and the maduro in the Toro size and they are the most consistent cigars I've smoked. They don't have knock your socks off premium taste, but to me they deliver a solid mild-medium, straight-forward tobacco flavor that I relly enjoy. The draw and burn are as close to perfect as a cigar can get. Well constructed, I've never had to re-touch my lighter to the cigar after the initial light. For the price, I'm not sure you can find a better performer; taste, burn, draw, & consistency. I've found in our cigar club that this smoke stands up equally in ratings to the Fuente's, Ashton's, and Padron's for a third or fourth of the price. Beginners and experieced smokers will both enjoy this smoke. You can't go wrong with this cigar; Natural or Maduro.

It Was a Good Smoke.

I tried a Montesino Lonsdale at a Billiards club one night. It was a good, even smoke. There's nothing there to make me write home about it, but I'd smoke another if it were available.

The Best Overall Cigar

I really like these cigars! That is probably why they are sold out almost all the time. Yes they are not as flavorful as a CAO Brazilia or a Punch Gran Puro but they also don't cost $6.00 a stick. The wrappers are not as pretty as the "high end" cigars but are still very flavorful. The flavor is excellent, a nice earthy to creamy flavor. They are more than a mild cigar but not quite full bodied. (just perfect in my opinion) Construction is good but some do "soft spots" that can effect the burn. The draw has been PERFECT on nearly everyone that I have had. The burn is good but sometimes they do suffer some "side burners" and some smoke way to fast for there size. Overall- when comparing quality(flavor), price($1.50 per stick), quanity(25 huge cigars), these are the best overall cigars on the market that I have smoked.

Time to smoke a little crow

I conjured up enough courage to try another one last Friday nite. It burned a little uneven, not bad though. Other than that a very satisfactory smoke. Can't believe that one and the next two came from the same bundle that the first one I smoked did.

Can't believe I bought the whole bundle.

Just finished my first one. Not a very pretty cigar.Gave my cheek muscles a pretty good work out trying to get through this sucker, the only relief I got was to delay re-lighting it after finishing about half of this "ugly". I don't have words to describe the finish, only to say it can't be as bad as the bottle of listerine I'm heading for.

Deeelicious!!!

Has to be the best Maduro for the price.

Definitely a Best Buy!!

This is my favorite buy on a cigar. Maduro or Natural, they are well constructed, always flavorful, and very consistent. Anytime! For the money I don't believe there's anything better.

Great Everyday Smoke!

I've been smoking cigars for years and still try different brands looking for the perfect stick. For just relaxing, or special occasions, I prefer La Gloria Cubana hands down. For golfing, or working in the yard, etc., give me a Napoleon Grande any time. Great taste, lots of smoke, easy draw is all I ask in a good stick. No matter how many brands I try, I always come back to a Napoleon Grande. Not always pretty to look at but always great taste! One can compare it to great sex with an ugly girl.

A very good mild affordable cigar.

I like this cigar. It is mild and affordable.

Not as smooth as the Connecticut wrapper

I love Montesino Gran Corona and it seems a lot of others do as well since the Connecricut is out of stock a lot. This being the case I decided to try the Maduro. While still a good cigar it just doesn't have that smooth taste of the Connecticut wraper.

This review was written about Montesino Gran Corona by Paul S of Illinois on August 8, 2005

Mellow and smooth

I client gave me a Montesino Robusto at the Opening Day of thoroughbred racing in Del Mar. Right away I noticed it was fresh and the smoke was as equally satisfying. Not big or bold, just a mellow, nice smoke. I'm not a "smoke it down to the stub" guy, but the mellow flavor kept going, why stop?

Maduro only

Rich tasting, even draw, burn consistency

Great cigar at any price

I have been looking for a long time for a replacement for the Hamilton's Reserve Corona and I have now found it. For me this was a mild smoke with a great taste. The burn was even with a long ash. The appearence was excellent. As a smoker of mild sticks, I now have found a Fuente that I can enjoy. I have told all my cigar smoking friends about this brand. I will definitely continue with this cigar and may even share one or two.

Excellent medium smoke for the late afternoon!

This a great cigar with a pint of amber ale at your favorite bar on a Friday afternoon. It's got a smooth draw, relatively even burn (just keep turning), creamy mouthful smoke, and great earthy taste that remains almost to the end. Never had one until the other week, but I'll be back for more.

No wonder they sell out so fast!

Starts out a bit strong & bitter, then mellows out into a creamy, leathery, earthy flavor that delicately yet powerfully says "Fuente". Make sure you stock up on these while they're available, because they sell quickly. After all, you're getting a Churchill sized smoke for a Lonsdale size price.

Great cigar

What a great cigar this is. Nice appearance, creamy and flavourful smoke and a nice, firm white ash.....A cigar for great events

A good cigar and real deal at the price

This cigar is more of a Churchill than a Lonsdale. Wrapper is somewhat darker than most Naturals, almost a SG. Burn is even. Draw is light and full. Cigar is firm without being dense. Flavor is "earthy" with notes of leather. Slightly stronger than I had expected for the size. Well-made and consistent through the bundle. You can taste A. Fuente standing behind it. Ash is medium grey, light and flaky. An excellent golf cigar or for outdoors since the ash makes it a little messy. Others would probably sell for much more.

My everyday!

The #2's burn perfectly for me everytime and I am never dissappointed with them. It amazes me that they are considerably less than their big brother's the Fuentes. They can hold their own against any of them.

Smooth, mild and tasty

I tried my first Montesino #2 and was pleasantly surprised. Mild, no strong peppery taste, all the way. I would like these for my every day cigar.

Montesino Toro & Robusto Maduro

I have been buying these for over a year now and have never been disapointed. I have tried other "so called" highly rated cigars to my dismay. When I light one of these up I wonder why I try anything else. A super consistant smoke at a great price.

This review was written about Montesino Toro by Rick M. of Denver CO on March 15, 2002

Ugly as hell - very tasty

I was surprised - earthy, not dirty. Tasty, but not strong. Dog ugly wrapper, but what the Hell. I could care less if it tastes good.

BUY THESE BABIES!! THEY'RE GREAT!!

Bought a couple at the local shop. Then 10 online. Now, only by the box. Tried many shapes and sizes-all GREAT. Robusto is a short(45min.) smoke busting with flavor. No bite until only 3/4" left. Draw was always smoothe with an even burn. Outstanding construction. Probably Fuente's best value. You'll never go wrong.

Now thats a Fuente

This is on the Maduro robusto! This is my favorite Montisino. The conn.broadleaf maduro wrapper adds just a touch of sweetness to kill off some of the peppery taste and makes a good flavor.More in my humi.

Inexpensive premium

Good looking , good price. Smokes like it's more expensive cousins. Mild to medium strenth with good flavor. Too bad all the Fuentes aren't priced like this.

Well worth twice the price!

I must confess, I didn't get my #2 from you, I bought it at the local smoke shop just to try one and boy what a delightful surprise. I paid $9.00 for this baby and would gladly have paid more, excellent construction, easy draw, bold taste, and an aroma that didn't knock my wife down! You can bet my next order will include a box of these!

Good solid Maduro!

One of the finest maduros for the price. Good spicy flavors!

Can't resist coming back to this great smoke.

I've been smoking cigars for the past six years. My humidore's packed with cigars in all price ranges, brands, and country of origion. There are better cigars on the market. But even a novice can't refuse returning to the Diplomatico.

Order a Box Now!

I recently purchased a box and have not been disappointed by one cigar. Each is well made, has an easy draw and superb flavor with no bite. I have passed on a few to my associates who have never tried Montesino and they were most impressed. This is an outstanding cigar considering the quality and value (as it is quite inexpensive) and it is made by Fuente. Great everyday smoke and a must for your humidor.

The Better Bundle

This is a great bundle cigar! An even burn and draw. Consistent throughout the bundle.
