whats that ???

omg... ok, the Olor Paco leaves alot to be desired. The appearance is good with a nice dark wrapper that is well constructed. The draw is fairly hard. the ash was nice and firm(has yet to drop at 1") the flavor is nasty kind of hard to describe... got any old gym shoes and old tire rubber?? the Aroma is a pungent dank and horrible.... Ugh is this a cigar or an experiment in how to make oneself sick... less than half way through the stick and i'm done.. i can't take it no more....i'm burying this out back with those old gym shoes i had.

Tight draw but not bad.

This is the second one of these that I have smoked and the second one with a really tight roll. It was hard to draw off of but the cigar had good taste. I must just be getting unlucky.

I love'em when they are on sale

Every now and again you folks have a two-4-one special on these super smokes and I order them immediately. Far as I am concerned, there is nuttin' better than an AMS(American Market Selection) jacketed cigar done veeery right. These are done REALLY~RIGHT! I remember when Arturo F. made them for you, at the risk of sounding like a heretic; I enjoy these even more. Compared to AF's 858 claro there is no contest. I mostly smoke candela, and a top notch premium at a fair price ain't easy to find. Damn: fella's this lad truly loves this creation(when it's on sale)!

Great taste from a great smoke

I picked this up with one of the Famous 9 samplers and I am glad it was in there. I had good draw and burn throughout. The taste was wonderful with a mild but tantalizing hint of spice. Truly enjoyable. This will be added to my favorites.

A good brand gone bad

Stuck it with my "bullet" type cutter and the cap fell off. Tried to light it but it was totally plugged. Ran a poker through it several times, and got it lit. Horrible construction, lousy burn, and almost no taste. I LOVE a couple of other Olor cigars, but this ain't one of them. Junk.

tasteless

The only pleasure I had from this cigar was watching it burn. I wish I could have done that without having to smoke it. I.e. Burnt nice, evenly and firm ash but it was very tasteless and when you were able to sense some taste is was not very pleasant. Glad I only had one in a sampler pack.

Taste is a matter of perception

What I have found out over the years is that one cannot go entirely by the ratings. I have smoked the Lonsdale and Colosos, and found them both excellent smokes. I do find the Colosos is a bit milder, but both have a consistent burn and the taste is very mild and consistent all the way down. They go very well with Port. It was my opinion that they were a little "spendy" for the price of one box but at two for one it is a great deal. To me they taste better than most of the Macanudo brand but taste is a matter of perception and one will have to draw their own conclusions. Anonymous, from Deary, Idaho.

nice smoke/great value

I'm fairly new to cigar smoking, but have tried a good number of different cigars from a buck a stick to $7 (even $12 for an Ashton at one shop.) I got an Olor Robusto in a free sampler and liked it enough to order a box of Momentos natural. I love 'em and am stocking way up on them for "everyday smokes." I had a friend who is a longtime cigar afficianado try one with me, and he agreed how good they were. Now, at the single box price ($3) they might be a little high, but with the two for one, wow! I'm putting in another order and I'll have almost a hundred of them stashed! Yeh, they're a little tight, but you get a nice mouthful of smoke without too much effort.

Best House Brand in the Bidness, though a bit high

Great maduro, but the price seems a bit expensive for a House Brand. But not at 2 for 1. Thanks,at 2 for 1 it is the BEST deal in the business. The flavor and draw were exemplary.

Tight, but good!

I bought a 5 pack on auction for a steal of a price and left them in the humidor for 2 months (forgot about them, really!). Enjoyed one today and was pleased. I concur with others that the draw is a little firm, but not so much as to be a spoiler. The wrapper is a thing of beauty, black as night. Really nice aroma and a mild but flavorful taste. Not a complex cigar, but really enjoyable for me. If you like knock the back of your head off cigars, this in not the stick for you. If you like mild cigars, give this a try. I think my next purchase of Olor will be a larger ring guage.

UGGHHHH

This was brutal. It was like trying to suck heavy-duty dish soap through a straw. The cigar sure looks nice, and it developed a nice white ash after the 15 minutes it took to get through the first 1/2 inch, but those are the only good things to be said for it from my palate's perspective.

Olor no more

I thought if I tried enough varied Olor styles, at least one would work for me. Didn't happen. The lonsdales were the worst yet. Hard as steel. Almost sucked my cheeks through my teeth to get a draw, then wished I had never lit it. May donate them to the school as javelins or baseball bats.

A Disappointment

Tried this one as part of a sampler I got. I have heard mixed reviews from people, but I was not impresses at all. Seems like it was rolled real tight, and the draw was not the easiest. After the initial light, flavor seemed very harsh. I love RP Vintage, and this seemed stronger than that. The taste did mellow out a little, but have had much better cigars. For something manufactured in the Macanudo factory, this is nowhere near their taste or flavor. I would have reservations about recommending this cigar.

Truly Horrible

Expensive, but very good

I liked the former Olor which was made at another factory. They were very interesting cigars. I stopped ordering them when they more than doubled in price during the cigar fad years. I was curious about the new incarnation (even though the price remains steep) so I tried a box during a promotion, They remain interesting and tasty. However, their construction is improved!
Strong cigars are popular now, in my opinion, because they have many complex flavors. Mild cigars seem bland and boring in comparison. For some reason, Olor's blend has always been flavorful and interesting without being strong. I mostly smoke strong cigars now, so this was a refreshing change. (All my strong cigars are beginning to taste the same.) The Olor Pacos are mild, but they are complex and flavorful.
The first, obvious difference between the new and old Olors is the box. I liked the old cedar chests better than the new ones. But I really don't care that much about this. Also, the bands are more attractive now. But I don't care about that either. The significant difference is in the construction. The old Olors were wrapped less tightly than the new ones. They often burned unevenly. When looking at the ash and burn, one could see that the loose cigar had areas of greater and lesser density that burned at different rates. (This sounds terrible, but it wasn't. It was a delicious cigar at a good price that burned a little unevenly.) The new Olors are much more firm to the touch. Unfortunately, my first was plugged (a deal-breaker for any cigar). Good thing I bought a whole box to try, because every other stick in the box was perfect! And I do mean PERFECT. They had a nice draw; burned straight as an arrow; tasted delicious: and even had a beautiful, firm, white ash.
The Olor Paco is a superply constructed cigar which is mild, but still has pleasing complex flavor. It's a great change of pace if all your strong cigars are beginning to taste alike. At $40/box (what I paid in the mid 90's) this might just be the best cigar value on Earth. At $90/box, I'll probably get one each year. I'll look forward to it!

Received an unusual hail/snow storm midst lighting and thunder in my Redwoooded canyon. On deck this a.m, my appreciation of parting skys, rising steam and swaying redwoods was enhanced by my first Olor Rothchild. I see what they mean by a "morning" cigar. The Olor brand is an exquisit taste and is truly one of the best smokes I have ever had. The cigar is a medium strength smoke that is full of wonderful flavor. The only fault it that you have to let the cigars dry a little before you can smoke them because they are wrapped so thightly.

Decent smoke but OVERPRICED

I won these on an auction for 2.60 a stick, and that's about what they're worth. The price to buy a 5-pack is 23.95, which makes it way overpriced.
The taste is very good, sweet toasty flavor with hints of fruit. It is definitely a mild cigar NOT Medium. Burn is a bit uneven, draw is tight. For the price the constuction should be better. These will be the only 5 I smoke.

Mild,smooth and different

Have smoked two 5 packs already. The Olor Paco has a beautiful, silky, pale green wrapper that smells(before being lit)almost like green tea. It's mild and smooth and the claro, maybe candela, wrapper imparts a slight natural sweetness and a very subtle grassy or green tea like taste that is very pleasing. This is a light to medium bodied cigar, leaning on the light side.It has a clean,medium-long finish that is just a bit dry,but very pleasing. The Paco is a real change of pace from the taste of most other claro wrapped cigars.A pleasing aroma and very good draw.Very well constructed. The cost of a box is too prohibitively high for me to afford or else I would order a couple of boxes.Wish they would sharpen their pencil there at Famous and bring down the price.A very nice cigar indeed.Go Angels!

I smoke a lot of cigars 5 maybe more a day. Of course I am not in a position to purchase or smoke and enjoy cigars of name brand quality every time I feel a need to get my smoke one. This cigar is resonably priced and very, very enjoyable. From light-up to the last draw it is flavorful, it burns great and even smells good (so says the wife). Good taste, very bad draw

Received my rothschild together with the famous shop robusto sampler. Suspected there would be problems when i felt it and found it to be quite hard. Let it lie in my humidor for a few weeks, then smoked it. It was waaaay too tightly rolled and provided a very tough draw. It was like sucking water through a long rubber hose. What a disappointment.

I'm a sucker for moderately priced maduros. All it takes is a decent price and a decent level of quality in taste and construction to get my vote. These Olor maduro Rothschilds aren't particularly moderately priced -- $70 isn't a steal -- and the construction is terrible. Is there a contest at the factory to see who can wrap the tightest cigar? If so, whoever made mine wins. Couldn't draw through most of these sticks with an industrial-strength vacuum cleaner. (When I actually find one that's smokable, the taste is OK. But the ratio in my first and last box has been about four discards for every smokable cigar.)

New Olor worth Trying

Though I never tried the Fuente made Olor, I can truly say that this blend is what I think cigar smokers today are looking for.Something with some body but not overpowering to the point of kickass. My Pacos say that there 6"x50 ring guage but they are more like 47 on the ring guage. That said it starts off almost sweet and earthy with hints of nutmeg and midly spicey. Though ready to smoke I bet these babies will taste even better after a month or so with out the cellos in my humidor. General cigar has a fine stable of cigars and the fact they make this one for Famous Smoke shop is worth trying. Alas! The prices are premium as well! Come on Humberto sharpen your pencil !
