A winner, I agree with all the positive reviews!

Quality construction yielding a nice fine white ash and generous quantities of smoke with excellent flavor. Smoked my first yesterday fresh off the truck out of the box and I'm looking forward to the remainder. This is what I like to find...

I have smoked cigars for years and from around the world and these are by far the best. The whole ERH line is fabulous.

Beautiful cigar

A really gorgeous cigar. The wrapper is handsome, with the leaf's physiology evident. Clearly hand-made, especially in the context of a box. Pre-light feel and aroma sensuous. I sometimes...just...fondle it, you know? Even the band and the proportions are classy. Some of mine would burn a little ragged, but so what? Nice smoke, not harsh at all. Definitely tasty and full-bodied, but not overly complex or "floral". Give this stick to prove beyond doubt that you're an insightful connoisseur and cigar genius. Box buy? Absolutely!

5 Years and still my Favorite

I reviewed these 5 years ago. I've tried many others and still keep coming back for more. (See below) They still round off the edge and mellow me out. When you have time to relax for a long smoke, these fill the bill. Great flavor and with a real kick and no dragon mouth aftertaste.

my favorite

This is one of the best, it is a full bodied cigar, but smokers dont realize it, because it is so smooth, and has such great flavour. Aging doesnt do anything to improve this cigar that I can tell. Put it in the humi for a week and smoke. It has the best aroma, and complex taste, of any cigar I've smoked to date, and I've tried them all. This is definitely my favorite right now.

Not a Bad Cigar!

To my lady and I don't think they are a full bodied smoke all the through until the end. This cigar is something we would buy once in a blue moon. Every cigar smoker has different taste but we would rather smoke the La Gloria Cubana or a Rocky Patel Edge over it anyday for a full bodied satisfaction.

Stop Buying These

Ok..now everyone stop buying these cigars. They have been my everyday cigar for a long time now and I'm getting tired of Famous being out of them. I continue to try other cigars but I always have a box of these El Rico's on hand. These are not for the beginers but for those of us who smoke 3 or more a day, these are the ones that carry enough punch to make the 4th one as good as the first one. So..Like I said...stop buying these.

Like an Ashton VSG

I am a big fan of the VSG series, but this cigar is just about as good at about 1/4 the price, To me it tastes slightly sweeter, and just a tiny bit (and I mean a tiny bit) less full bodied. This may be the best cigar value out there if you like full bodied cigars.

The Perfect Burn

These burn absolutely perfect. They taste great, draw even better and remind me of Cuban cigars like Punch Punch. If you like a powerhouse of a cigar you will love these.

One of The BEST!

These are among the very best cigars in the world if you want a complex, very full bodied cigar with consistent quality in construction and flavor. El Rico is one of those modest or midline price point cigars such as Joya Antanos, El Reys, many Toranos and Olivas that actually exceed expectations and are often better than much higher priced lines.

Don't drive while smoking this cigar!

Taste is very smooth and mellow, no harshness at all in this smoke. But it will sneak up on you with its power. Like Tequila, when you realize it is getting to you it is too late. So don't try to drive and smoke this baby!

Great Cigar.....Great Deal

El Rico Habano is one of those cigars that falls into that special category of being great in all aspects (taste, construction, complexity, value). If you enjoy strong, yet balanced maduros (i.e. El Rey Del Mundo, Rocky Patel OWS, Carlos Torano) you'll likely fall in love with this reblended classic.

Best cigar on the market

This cigar is the best stick I have ever had. I've smoked Gurkhas, Partagas, and most of the higher quality brands. This cigar blows them away with great, full flavored smoke. Ernesto Perez Carillo is a genius!

Awesome smoke

Rich, oily wrapper with a delicious aroma. Even burn and good construction. Full-bodied smoke that delivers flavor without a hint of harshness. I have tried about every cigar under the sun and I can say that this is one of the very best. Pick up a box or three.

Near Perfection

The pre-light taste and aroma give you hints of good things to come. While this may not be the most complex cigar (like consistent spicy, meaty/hint of salty/sweet flavor is a bad thing), it rivals anyting out there from any country. Great construction/burn/draw with a full flavor profile (sans any harshness) that mellows slightly near the end. Near perfection!

Fabulous

The Rico club maduro is one of the best cigars I have experienced. Full of flavor, long finish, good draw, and consistent burn. This is the companies best cigar. There is nothing wrong with the ones I have smoked. It can recieve high remarks in all categories.

The Leader of the Pack!!

My hat's off to the El Rico Habano "maduro". If you love a full bodied smoke that has great flavors all the way to the nub and you don't have $300 a box to spend, then this is the stick for you. Fyi: if you buy 5 pack samplers, make sure you buy them in a box w/ cellophane, no zip lock baggies. It makes a huge difference. Also great cigars are never STRONG, they're always full bodied.

AWESOME FLAVOR!!!

THIS CIGAR HAS ABOUT THE BEST FLAVOR OF ANY I HAVE EVER TRIED. STRONG, SMOOTH AND COMPLEX. VERY GOOD. THEY DO TEND TO BURN A LITTLE FUNNY FOR THE 1ST HALF BUT IT IS STILL WORTH DEALING WITH FOR THE FLAVOR. GOOD PRICE TOO.

Awesome CAO Alternative

I am an avid smoker of CAO & Ashtons along with an occasional dabble into "special blend" cigars. Nevertheless, when I asked my friendly, neighboorhood tobbaconist for an alternative to a CAO Maduro he popped this one in front of my nose! Ahhhhhhhh....heaven!
From the moment that I lit the cigar I could taste the peppery, rich overtones that make this a full-flavored smoke. The boquet is beautiful and the taste is excellent comparable if not better than a CAO Maduro at a reasonable price.
Try one! If you don't like let me know and I'll buy you a CAO maduro!

Very good cigar

This is a wonderfull smoke! I have one in the morning after breakfest and love the smooth taste. I had to re-light in the middle once but other than that it was very tasty. Hints of chocolate, earth and light peppery spice. Get the 54's pack for $20 - the best deal here!

best kept secret of all

I generally smoke very strong and expensive cigars (Ashton VSG, Opus X, Padron Anniversario, Partagas Black Label, etc.). Yet, these are so good, so strong, without "dragon mouth", for half the price! You get a great draw, plenty of smoke and decent burn every single time. The gran corona and the double corona are terrific and the big Maduro one of the best around, again, all on the cheap. I can get all I want for four or five dollars instead of eight to twelve bucks a stick elsewhere. This became my everyday cigar.

Strong, complex, delicious, the best maduro of all!

I have smoked ALL cigars from everywhere...this is the best large maduro I have tasted in 40 plus years of smoking..no competition. You do have to transfer them to a humidor as they are packed plain in a cute box, paper, and a ribbon!

Love at first smoke

The first time I tried one, I knew I was spoiled. Nothing else has come close. The flavor, aroma, burn, and the overall construction. Keep in mind that this is one STRONG smoke and not for the faint of heart.

Nearly fell off the bridge

I lit up one of Ernie's finest on the Brooklyn bridge back from Peter Lueger's Steak House on a Saturday afternoon and nearly fell off the bridge. It is a fine tribute to his father and a great smoke like the man creating it.

el rico gran habanero is one of the finest cigars.

el rico gran habanero is one of the finest cigars around. I believe this maduro line is relatively new. It draws well, smokes evenly, has a nice aroma, and all my friends who I have turned onto this cigar love it. However, it is a full bodied strong smoke- only for those who can handle the "truth" in cigars.

Cigar Capital of the World

Truly my favorite of all sticks and I smoke 3 - 4 cigars a day so I've tried almost all of them. The flavor of this cigar blows away anything even Opus, although Anejo's come close. It very much reminds me of the cubans that were available in the early 90's before the counterfeiters took over and Fidel wasn't pushing under-aged tobacco. Rumor has it that General is looking to discontinue this brand or is slowing production... so stock up while you can.

El Rico Habano the best for full flavor.

Far and away my favorite cigar. It is consistent in quality and flavor. Meant to be smoked with a good scotch, bourbon or brandy. These are better than the originals of a few years ago and I was fond of them. If you like rich, full bodied cigars this is for you.

FULL and earthy, heavy hitter, nothing like it.

This Cigar is like steak on a plate. If you're not into FULL body and flavor, run away. This stick is a HEAVY hitter. A heady powerhouse that produces a heavy blanket of Nicaraguan Ligero. Very earthy and hearty. I love & crave this cigar, I haven't found any other smoke that compares to it.

Power in a Little package

Believe it when they say this is a very full bodied cigar. Good construction, burned fairly even, pleasant aroma, nice oily sweet wrapper, complex taste. Take your time and smoke this one slow and enjoy. I liked it and will order more.
