Great Gift Item

This is a Great Gift item...beautifully boxed with 12 awesome smokes.

This review was written about Romeo y Julieta 12 Toro Ashtray Collection by Bill J of Hackettstown NJ on October 5, 2008

Pleasing flavorful smoke

Had a R&J Churchill Tubo for watching yesterdays Giants vs Rams game at an outdoor sports bar. The cigar lasted the entire second half. The draw was consistent througout, even burn & nice ash. I felt the taste & strength were in the medium+ range, the cedar wrapper imparts a woody note to the smoke, somewhat complex in flavor, no harshness. I was very satisfied. I would put it in the '88-89' range, and a good value price-wise.

Romeo Y Julieta Churchill Tubo

The Romeo Y. Julieta Churchill Tubo cigar is a very outstanding cigar. It has it all, taste, strength, burn. Excellent!

Pretty Good Smoke

Definitely a quality smoke as you would expect from RYJ. Nice mild-medium bodied smoke that always draws and burns wondefully. Great cigar to sit down and relax with. I would definately recommend it to anyone who isn't looking for a full-bodied cigar.

Not so good if you tried Cuban RYJ....

Not worth a smoke, I just tried one right of the pack, not good ash, taste is way off compare to the Cuban stuff. don't feel like somking a RYJ at all..

Fantastic Draw, You can really taste the cedar notes. This is one of the best Mediem bodied cigars I've ever tasted!

Great Taste, Burn, Draw and Consistancy

I've enjoyed these on and off over a couple years and they are one of my favorites. Not overpowering, but flavorful and very consistant. One of the few cigars I can say that year to year still seems the same and is always a pleasre and the price....Need I say more. You just can't go wrong with this one.

Average but still good.

This was my third cigar of the day and it went well with beer. These are always good. Not great but good.

Thin wrapper- tears easily, tough draw, good taste

Super thin wrapper- tears easily, tough draw. Good taste, just not what i expected from a Romeo Y Julieta. Good price.

Not all bad, but better RJs out there

Had one of these in my humidor for a few weeks and just got done with it about an hour ago. Not a bad smoke by any means, but just not for me. Perhaps a bit bitter? I can't put my finger on it...the flavors were there, but it made me want a big glass of water and refreshments. No burn or lighting issues, so perhaps down the road I'll try one of these again.

A great smoke at a terrific price!

A smooth and aromatic smoke with a good draw and burn. I've smoked cigars at twice the price that didn't measure up to the R&J Cedro Deluxe #2. The presentation is also impressive with the full length cedar sleeve and gold band. I highly recommend this smoke. JS

Best Cigar - Hands down!

In my opinion, the 5 x 50 cigar is best size in cigars. And there is none better than the Romeo Y Julieta Bully. This has been my favorite cigar since I began smoking cigars. Why pay 5 bucks or more for a comparable cigar, when you can smoke a better cigar (Bully) for under 3 bucks? When it comes to taste, structure, draw, and burn, this is the best cigar - hands down!

Real fine smoke.

I was given one of these last football season(2007) at a tail gate party before a game. After smoking it I ordered a box of my own. Go Texans!!

Score it 92!

What a smoke! I purchased these in early '97 and like a fine wine they have become more than I could have hoped for. Creamy, balanced, a little pepper, plenty of guts and lots of almond and coffee flavors. If you've had a bad one check your humidor. If you didn't like 'em check and see if your a girl!

As fine a mild cigar as is made

If you like a mild cigar with a good draw, this is the stick! The flavor is fantastic and they burn and draw great. Just waiting to see what a few months will to do them!

A damn fine cigar

If you like the Reserva Real... then you will really like this little gem. Silky smooth from end to end with just a light spice. Every time I light one of these, I find myself saying "This is a damn fine cigar" My only complaint... they just dont last long enough. Enjoy...

A FINE smoke and Great Draw

This is really a great cigar, smooth, sweet and a fine draw. Perhaps Reginald, you forgot to cut the CAP? ; )

Decent Smoke

I ordered a 5 pack from Famous; not a bad price either. The first half inch of this cigar was making me think that I wasted what little money I actually spent; talk about a disappointment. After six or seven puffs, the cigar began to build and turned into a nice experience. The burn could have been a little better, but some aging in a humidor should fix this. The build was perfect and the draw was even better. If the rest from the sample pack get better with age, I will certainly buy a box. This was the first non Cuban RyJ I have tried, and has a lot to live up to.

Does Every Reviewer work for R&J

Having just finished several Bully's and Cedro #2's, I can say three things. The Cedro tasted way better than the Bully. The Cedro actually tasted great. The draw on both was so bad I felt like a whore with tuberculosis giving a BJ. Is it that hard to get a cigar to draw properly? The taste is plenty good enough that you would think R&J would get their act together and improve their quality control. If I hadn't had several of two different versions of the 1875, plus what a lot of folks have said at various review sites, I never would be writing this review. Yes, it burns crappy too. Damn shame as it (Cedro) really tastes quite good. Not worth the headache though.

R & J Bully's Are The Bomb

I've smoked alot of cigars and I just keep coming back to Romeo And Julietas. Yes, every once in awhile i get a bad one in the box but overall they are well constructed, solid ash, terrific notes and you can't beat the price. My humidor will always have a box or two. Writing from Jupiter, Florida

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Bully by Christopher W. of Palm Beach County, Florida on August 25, 2007

consistant with any Cuban RJY

An excellent cigar, with semi rich/spicy after taste, not at all bitter. even and easy draw consistant to the last 1/4. great value, have smoked one with coffee and also dry red wine works well with both

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Bully 5 Pack by Don of Brisbane Australia on July 30, 2007

A real bargin

I love these cigars! While they are really more on the medium-strong side, they are wonderfully complex (I will spare you the hints of nutmeg and whatever shit). There really is a lot going on in this cigar. One of the best values I have run across.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Bully 5 Pack by Tony of Wisconsin on July 27, 2007

Superior quality

Probably the best constructed cigar I have ever smoked--perfect draw and burn. They're a bit too mild for my taste--I'm hoping a few months in the humidor will help them. I smoked one last night, though--I was in the mood for a nutty flavor--and I smoked it to the nub. For the moment, it fit my mood exactly, and it smoked perfectly from start to finish. The filler tobacco seems to be extremely good, and it has a very heady smoke.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Bully by Jerry of Connecticut on June 4, 2007

great stick, great price

I bought one at a local smoke shop and unfortunatly smoked it right out of the cellophane, even still this was a great smoke. Perfect burn, even after relight, good construction and complex, medium bodied flavor throughout. I will definitely buy a box of these. Only negitive, weak ash! dropped ash all over the place

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Exhibicion 1 by RGR of WY on April 28, 2007

Pleasant Smoke

After reading several bad reviews I was skeptical. These cigars were very enjoyable! Spicy and smooth, not a bit of harshness. Smoked it right down to the last half inch and was sorry it ended.

Dont buy inferior construc

One of the worst sticks ever paid premium price for. They come unwrapped ,split open and don't stay lit. Cust service did however replace the box for free

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Churchill by James Chambers of CA on April 22, 2007

Just Average

With the lineage of these cigars I was expecting a bit more. Burn was a bit uneven requiring a few touch up lights to even them out, ash a little weak, flavor was good but average, strength med. and the cigar was a tad soft. I bought some of these Bully's and H.Upmann's...for me, the Upmann's were a far better cigar hands down.

Awesome Smoke

Love the Bully's. Great taste and good construction. When the price is right, I get them quick.

Nice smoke all around

Had one of these aging in the humidor for 3 months. What a great smoke. The draw was perfect, the ash was very long and very white and firm. The burn was superb as well. The taste bordered on full flavor with just the right amount of bite. Just a great smoke all around, I will try more R & J's!

Nice for the Price

After aging for a little while, I finally had my first of a 5-pack after a prime rib dinner. Wonderful pre-lit aroma and draw. The draw was easy throughout the cigar with a delicious hint of wood and nut. The ash was solid and helped maintain a nice cool taste upon each draw. I look forward to having the rest of the 5-pack and then some more.

What a wonderful tasting affordable smoke. This is one of my regular favorites. Tasty, medium strength and very little bite.

Very Good Smoke

I don't know all the cigar lingo yet but I do know what I like. I like these a lot. Consistant constuction, Excellent flavors, Good draw. I'm on my forth box and do not plan on ever running out of these.

A Bargain At Twice The Price!

At about $4 a stick for an A sized cigar, I decided to give these a try totally blind based on the consistently excellent reviews in periodicals. (90 in a recent CA) I recieved my box, removed them from the cellophane, and let them stabilize in the humi for a few weeks before trying. My initial impression was that the color and sheen on the wrappers was impressive and the construction appeared impecccable. They also smelled great. I eventually sat down, clipped one, and lit it. All I can say is FABULOUS! I'm talking about a nice, easy draw that filled my mouth with a rich smoke that was dense enough to make me want to actually bite it as it lazily drifted upward. The burn was straight as an arrow and I could buy my next house with what I'd save in matches if every cigar burned like these did. The ash was a lovely white with grey flecks. The flavor profile was complex and interesting while the spice factor ramped up nicely right through to the nub to end with a sweet little sting right at the end. I got nice sensations of light wood, leather, creme, and vanilla with a hint of earth. When I say "light" and "hint" I don't mean weak or anemic. Make no mistake, this cigar is well within the medium bodied range and VERY rich. Rather, I use the tem "light" to mean that the flavors are so nicely balanced that they each take turnes coming forward without overwhelming each other or my taste buds. The finish was that rare kind of long and fresh at the same time. Don't get me wrong, there are times when you almost want your smoke to be an "event". You want to fuss with it a little and think about each detail of the cigar. You want to consider what you're drinking and how the smoke works with your coctail and your last meal. You want to play with rotating the stick to control the burn and adjust your draw to control the heat. Or maybe wou want to wrestle with your smoke just to see how far you can go and how much you can stand. We've all been there and there is nothing wrong with that. It's all good and all part of enjoying the fabulous variety of cigars we are lucky enough to have available and enjoy. But this is not the cigar for those times. This one just about smokes itself, interupting your thoughts just long enough to tell yourself, "Man, this is good!" This one is for when you want to sit down, relax, clear your mind and effortlessly (and deliciously) make the world go away for about 2 hours. All this for $4 bucks or so a stick is just a rip, roaring bargain. Very impressive indeed. A humi full of these, a selection of Padrons, and a few Cuban Sir Winstons and I'll be just fine.

Good but not great

Saw this stick at a shop for a reasonable price so I decided to give it a try... it had a tad bit of harshness but over all it had hints of cream nuts and cedar. It wasn't a bad stick but not overly complex or spicy either. It's great for a mild mid day smoke, and it won't break the bank either.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Cedro Deluxe 2 by Stephen of Purcellville, Va on July 28, 2006

Excellent smoke

Beautiful presentation, top-notch construction, full-flavored medium cigar with deceptive power. About a 45 minute smoke. I would give it an 88 total score. Excellent value for the over-all quality.

Careful with the cutter!

The tip unravelled with this one. I had an uneven smoke, a hard draw, and found lacking in flavor. Was more satisfied with the Trinidad.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Churchill by Ross of Midwestern U.S. on March 25, 2006

Consistancy a BIG problem

When this cigar is good it is Excellant. One of my favorites. Unfortunately 4 or 5 out of the box of ten are rolled to tight. So tight that I end up frustratingly throwing the thing away. This is not just a one time occurance Ive bought 5 boxes of these babies and its the same thing everytime. When rolled and contructed properly its a pleasure to smoke. Its a great price for 10 cigars but when your throwing half of them away your suddenly paying twice the amount per cigar. I hope they get their quality issues resolved would love to get a good box of 10 one of these days

Great Cigar !!

I would have said that this cigar had lost it's touch a year ago, but after trying it again a few weeks ago, the thrill was back. R&J's are better than ever

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Cedro Deluxe 1 by Joe Hajjar of NJ on February 28, 2006

an excellent smoke

I was most interested to compare this R&J with the genuine Cuban brand I buy here in Israel. It is a completely different experience. But smooth and mellow, except for the start, which was slightly coarse. The bouquet of the Cuban brand is positively floral in character. Mild and full of suprising flavors. But the R&J 1875 from Famous is outstanding, good to the last centimeter.

Big cigar taste in a small package. Exceptional!

Flavorful, large cigar taste in compact wrappings. Utterly enjoyable smoke, anytime, anywhere, especially when time is a premium.

I LIKE 'EM, I LOVE 'EM, I WANT SOME MORE OF 'EM

A company to escape the cigar boom of the 90's UNSCATHED (thank you lord) may have changed the sizes and names in their line, but the romance was not lost. I was grateful to find the same character, construction, wonderfully balanced smokes I'd always known. If you are new to cigars, these dominican sweethearts won't blow you away; If you're a "dyed in the wool" Honduran person, you can enjoy these on an empty stomach; provided that you haven't so set your palette for Excalibur #1 Maduros that these taste like air.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Bully by glenn d c of reno nv on October 10, 2005

Very nice

Though I am a dedicated Maduro fan I was very, very impressed with this R&J Cedro Deluxe #2. Though not a taste at the top of my personal preference, its' taste is quite good and quite ample. Cannot say it is more than a "medium" taste or "medium" strength cigar but that is surely no criticism. This is one of those "savor the moment" cigars you smoke when you relax and enjoy some particularly sweet accomplishment like replaying that string of four birdies you had on the back nine earlier in the day. And that is a lot for me to say for a non-Maduro cigar. Taste aside, everything else about it is first-rate, and the rather modest price is easily justified.

Excellant Cigar Most of the time

This cigar when good is VERY good. The one problem I did find was 3 or 4 from the box of 10 were rolled to tight and was tough to draw. Otherwise and excellant smoke. Construction, burn taste all a 10. This is not to say its the best tasting cigar I've ever had, but factoring in the price at about $3.70 a stick the value is a 10. They shared my humidor with a box Of Montecristo #4 Cubans which I paid alot more for and liked the RYJ's better in all respects. If they can eliminate the few that had draw problems, in my opinion, this is one of the best deals out there.

This review was written about Romeo Y Julieta Romeos Court by Brian Quintal of Peabody, Ma on August 1, 2005

Disappointing

After all the glowing reviews I had read here I couldn't wait to try one. I had received it in a sampler pack and was certain to let it relax in my humidor for 2 months. I was highly disappointed. The draw was good, but the burn was terrible and uneven with awful canoeing all the way through. I also found the flavor to be horribly bitter. Perhaps I just got a bad stick.

Hey you know the name, it's a really great smoke!

Yeah yeah, RyJ. We all know of them, problem is, there is no problem! If you can afford them, get 'em. Great medium body, terrific flavor -so smoooth-, and real quality construction. Even if you can't afford them, buy a 5 pack, burn one up and enjoy, then save the rest to break out with a friend on a good occasion. You'll both appreciate it!

Great taste, uneven burn

I love the nice smooth rich taste of this cigar, but the uneven burn is really annoying. I have tried several different batches, and I can't seem to find a good burning batch.

RYJ Churchill was dried up.

The RYJ 1875 Churchill's I got were dried up, burned uneven, no flavor. I must have got a bad box? I have had some good RYJ's, but not this box or brand. I will not order these again.

Best of the Romeos

For years my favorite R y J has been the Cedro Deluxe #2. This shortened version of the #2 has just the right balance of length/diameter to make it superior to the #2. A must try!

Well ballanced.

I was not dissapointed by these at all. What I especially liked was the subtle, sweet bite that one encounters near the cigars end. This is a medium bodied cigar with pleasent mild tendencies.

On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 9.9

I first tried the Romeo Y Julieta Petit Numero Dos on 1/22/2005 and it is the first tapered cigar I have tried and thought it was a great cigar. Smooth, lit only once during golf and was mild to the taste. I like a mild cigar and this fits my taste perfectly.

Simply put... Perfection

Once upon a time I had the chance to indulge in one of the finest cigars ever made, ever since I have had these beauties permanently stocked in my humidor. I enjoy a great variety of cigars in my humidor, but these are the cigars I smoke when I really want a to pleasure my senses. Have you ever lit up a cigar that you just couldn't draw or taste and were completely Irate? Me too, thats why I always have these on hand, consistent quality that can turn your mood after the first scent of that wonderful cedar aroma. A strong nine out of ten points, I would recommend this cigar to anyone.

Disappointing

I was very disappointed with this cigar. I have enjoyed R Y J's before, but this one was no where comparable. Half way through the smoke, the cigar just fell apart. It had harsh draws and was burning very hot. I will give it another try, but will buy a single before I ever buy a box.

Delicious

The best churchill in appearance, aroma, taste, construction, presentation, wonderful burn, draws nicely, overall a solid cigar.

Dissapointing to say the least

Taste and aroma were very good. However, the draw was very difficult and the wrapper started to unwrap halfway through the smoke. This happened with almost every cigar in the box. I would not buy another box of these.

Passed the "wife test"

This cigar has it all . . . smooth taste, easy draw, rich look, and is a good value. But best of all, this is the first cigar I've burned that my wife said, "smells okay". I'm sold. Smoking this cigar whilst indulging in some on-line poker is for me a "high roller" experience.

A Testimony to Aging

I was all set to write a scathing review of the R&J Bully, then I thought I should try just one more. My in-laws gifted me with a box of Bullys for Christmas 2000. Unfortunately,
