Rocky Patel American Mkt. Cigars

My Favorite

Had an AMS in a sampler. Eventually smoked it, thought what a smooth and creamy cigar. Looked at the site and read the Famous description and it's dead on. Bought two boxes.

NOT BAD TASTING FOR A MILDEY

I AM NOT I BIG MILD SMOKER ONLY ONCE IN A WHILE. BUT THIS ONE IS NOT BAD. A LITTLE TOWARDS THE MEDIUM SIDE. I AM BUYING A BOX FOR MY GUESTS WHO ARE NEWBIES AND CAN PASS THEM OUT WITHOUT WORRY. A HELL OF ALOT CHEAPER THAN PASSING OUT MONTE'S.

Do not bid on this cigar

Been smokin for two plus years, bought this cigar by accident at an auction, and fell in love. Creamy, smooth, great for the best of occasions, or sitting back pondering life's wonders. Don't bid on this!

Great everyday Cigar !

This is a perfect everyday cigar. Mild and well constructed. This doesn't hold it's taste close to the band like other Patel's, becomes a little harsh. A great stable mate for the humidor. You definitley want to keep these around.

Take A Walk On The Mild Side!

This is a great-tasting and beautifully constructed cigar from Maestro Patel! I would say it's on the mild side of medium in body. Got a box of the torpedoes on auction and wish I bought more- will be my new go-to smoke!

Great burn , beautiful ash !!

This cigar has the most beautiful burn and ash formation of any cigar I have ever smoked . I have tried the robusto and torpedo and they are the same and consistant throughout the box . I have been anxious to share and my friends say the same thing . Good job Rocky !!

Very mild and boring

Really mild. I expected that, but hoped that Rocky would make it more complex or interesting, as mild cigars don't have to be boring. Skip it unless you're new to smoking.

One of the better Patels.

This is a nice one to light up with friends after a good meal. Rocky Patel is hit or miss and I think this one is a hit.

Nice Mild & Well Constructed Good Smoke

Being a Newer Cigar Smoker I've tried a few different companies and have done my share of store brands but I am now Smoking with Rocky. Thanks Famous my local store doesn't stock this Cigar and so far this has been a pleasant enjoyable smoke. Something I can sit down with enjoy a mild smoke and watch my Celtics head towards banner #17.

Yo Adrian...Rocky just knocked out the competition

ItÂ’s been over a year now and I am just finishing up my first box of AM Toros. They say good things come to those who wait and I must agree wholeheartedly. While these smokes are good right out of the box, they move closer to great the longer you mature them. I plan on buying a few boxes this order, some to smoke immediately and some to age for at least a year or two. The American Market is the first mild cigar that I have truly taken pleasure in and is a great change of pace from my usual medium/full and full lineup. In my humble opinion, the American Market even outshines the comparable RP Vintage '99 (which I have smoked quite a few of). I recommend saving the extra $35+ and putting it toward another box of smokes or a good bottle of single malt (or gas given the current status of things).

Outstanding Smoke!!

Everything about this smoke, construction, burn, TASTE, was awesome! It was mild-medium with a sweet tobacco flavor. I smoked it all the way down until my fingers couldn't take any more!

My favorite perfect everyday cigar

I first tried Rocky Patel American Market Selection Robusto because I received one free in a sample pack from another Famous Smoke order. My oh my. I was already a Rocky Patel fan before I tried this cigar. I was already a Robusto man, too. I'm telling you, I fell in love with this cigar from my first puff. THIS is how a man's cigar should taste, feel, and smoke. First and foremost, the draw is typical for an RP cigar: outstanding. How these so-called cigar afficianados can compare the perfect draw of an RP cigar to even something like an Arturo Fuente or, dare I say, an Avo or Davidoff, is beyond me. They must be getting paid off by the manufacturers. The draw on any RP cigar is perfect, exactly what the draw SHOULD be on a cigar. There's no struggling with it, no "sucking through a straw" feeling. Just an even, airy, full, and complete draw on the tobacco. Next, for me, is the taste/flavor. The RP American Market Robusto, they say, is medium, and I suppose it is, but that does not mean it is "medium" on flavor. It is full with wood flavors, and mellow, not at all spicy (like RP The Edge). Then, there is the smoke: a nice "big smoke" that comes out with every puff. I bought a box of these last fall, and they right away became my favorite "go to" cigar, in the morning on the weekend with a cup of coffe, or just now as I finished one off this evening next to the fire pit. In the year since I re-started cigar smoking, I have likely sampled close to 50 different cigar brands, and cigar for cigar, Rocky Patel is the only brand that knows how to make a cigar draw like it should. To me, the RP American Market Selection Robusto is the quintessential man's cigar.

ROCKY / AMER MKT/DBL CORONA

A MUST TRY FOR EVERY ONE GREAT CIGAR THIS CIGAR WILL BECOME A CLASSIC.

This review was written about Rocky Patel American Market Selection Double Corona by MATTY of Pennsylvania on February 15, 2008

Such a change with a few months aging

A classic case of improving with six months aging - like a different cigar from when I first started smoking these when they first became available from Famous. There's a lot of competition at this price which might be less fashionable but as they are rare in the UK and dirt cheap by our prices, I'd buy again. ROY.R

Great Cigar

I used to only smoke Fuente 858, and Romeo & Julieta Vintage 2. I now will only smoke Rocky Patels, especially the Amer. Mkt. selection. This is a great cigar compared to some that are double the price. Easy draw, cosistent with every box. I haven't had a bad one yet out of 4 boxes. My Uncle and Cousins have also made the switch. Keep up the great work Rocky..........

Good Cigar, i will buy more

This cigar had a great taste, a pretty even burn, and was enjoyable. I only had to dislikes. 1.) It got hot and harsh about 2/3 of the way throught the cigar. 2.) The Cigar split right about where the band was, when i had smoke most of the cigar. Over all, i am hoping the other 4 are as good or better. If so i will be buying more.

Good buy!

I bought 2 boxes of the RP Toro AMS on the auction site. Mild to medium good cigar at a great price. Nice burn, smooth draw, good flavor. I will keep these in my humidor.

No Airball

Tried the Toro after sitting in my humidor for @ 4 weeks. And it was a nice surprise! I lean towards more full bodied smokes , but still I really enjoyed this as a change of pace. Burn, draw and construction were nice. It was more mild than med. but it still had enough flavor to hold my attention right to the nub. A nice smoke that can be enjoyed by new smokers as well as the seasoned smoker who would like a nice daytime smoke.

my breakfast

great mild cigar to have with my morning coffee.

This review was written about Rocky Patel American Market Selection Torpedo by Louis Colgan of CA on September 15, 2007

disappointed

I am not sure why RP designed these really. They are certainly not his best on flavour and my first two refused to stay alight. Construction and appearance seem fine, but I will leave the remainder of the box in a few different humidors for 6 mths plus and smoke the 9 free samplers instead. As the previoud Gent said, Gispert are much better but then so are others in the Rocky Soprano stable. Roy.R

Needs to be on sale.

Good medium level cigar. Different from tradition crafted cigars (AF, H Upmann, Punch) Rockey Patels are little bit well you know 'as conformed as a big cigarette' They are good but a better buy for an equal and same kind of cigar would be a Gispert. A slight upgrade would be Licenciados.

Impressive Smoke, a must for any humidor!

I went out on a limb and ordered a full box before trying one and MAN, was I rewarded!! Upon opening the box the appearance had me right away, almost too good looking to smoke. (I got over that rather quickly though!) I've had almost half of them and the consistency is amazing. The draw has been perfect in all of them so far. The burn is even and consistent. You could almost smoke these to the nub without dropping ash! The flavor is nice with hints of wood and spices with a nice creamy smoke that abounds with every puff of copious smoke. I would rate these on the mild side of medium with a medium to slightly complex flavor. My humidor will never be without a RP American Market Selection Torpedo again.

Outstanding Cigar!

After never having smoked a RP before, I thought I'd buy the 5 pack. I lit one up after just 2 days in the humidor and I thought, "Why did I wait so long to buy these!" This cigar impressed me! It's a medium bodied cigar with a rich smoke and smooth draw. No need to work when smoking this. The burn was consistent and even, with a long ash. I can't wait to buy a box!

Sweet!

On the mild side of medium. Very tasty all the way down to the nub, looks great, draws and burns well. Highly recommended.

Mild but really good...

I usually smoke full bodied maduros exclusively. However, I bought these cigars on a monster deal and I have to tell you. I really love these. The draw is excellent, the smoke gets better and better, with a nice creamy finish. A must try...

Nice Surprise

Very nice draw and a nice even burn. A little fade at the finish, but great cigar overall for the price. Get better as they age a bit. Bought a box blind on Monster Deal and am now sold. If you lock Rocky's but prefer a milder stick, this one is a good one.

Dont buy any more bundles - Buy these!!!

I bought these on the Monster sale last week. At under $2 each I thought "What the heck?" Boy, was I pleased. A big Cigar and a nice, smooth, mild smoke. It was consistent the entire length. Superb draw and smoke, a little short on the finish but tasty. The burn was not bad, but should even out after a little humidor time. If you can catch these on sale, my advise is to load up!

The description says it all...

A handsome cigar that lives up to its press. Mellow, smooth to the end...hint of spice...excellent burn. Nothing agressive about this cigar...It is delicate and tasty. A very pleasant smoke.

OUTSTANDING

I normaly prefer full flavor cigars and thats mostly what lines my humidors,Don pepin gacias,Cohiba,RP Edges are amoung my favorates but I do like a mild to medium once in a while so thought i'd try the RP RMS and I must say im pretty impressed . The burn was perfect I had a ash that was almost half the cigar, The taste was smooth and creamy with a very faint tradional RP aroma whitch I like very much. The only thing I didnt care for was it left a bit more bitterness on the palate than I exspected but a little coffee took care of that. All In all I thought it was a great cigar and its a nice change to have one once in a while to balance my diet of heavier full flavor cigars. On a side note, i've always found that the more mild the cigar the more sharp or bitter taste it leaves behind so in all fairness maybe its just me and the fact i've been spoiled with my Don pepin Garcias that leave no after taste on the palate what so ever, that being said its still a very enjoyable cigar and maybe some more time im my humidor might be the answer. RP did a great job as exspected and looking forward to my next Rocky Patel RMS.

What A Smoke!

I generally prefer a mild to medium smoke, and that is exactly what this stick is all about. One of the best overall, construction, burn, taste experiences I've had. If you like the RP Connecticut you'll like this one and vice versa. A must try!

AN AMAZING SMOKE...A HOME RUN

This is an amazing smoke. Great taste and flavor. Good strong ash, and a great draw. I could easily see this taking the place of my other RP favorites. You will love this cigar if you favor the medium strength cigar. Perfect 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What A Smoke!

Saw these new AMS's on the Famous home page and new I had to try a box of Robusto's. Since I also got the free five pack, I fired one up on night one. After toasting the foot, took a good draw and wow, What A Smoke! I don't know about all these descriptions about "hints of Madagascar cinnamon", but I'll tell you this is one mellow smoke, tons of smoke, with a great light grey ash that stay in place darn near half way down. I used a plug cutter, and the head stayed good and firm the whole way down. This cigar probably has a most consistent burn, ranking right up there with a Monticristo. Great construction. If you're a Rocky cigar lover, try this one. I think it's one of his best. I would rank this one over a CAO Black, for comparison. Burned my finger on this one.
