a dud in my book

I got a 5 pack of these. 1st one tasted terrible, put it out. 2nd one canoed, wrapper blew up. No corojo flavor, very bland tasting. My humi sits at 67-68%, so it wasnt that. I have 3 to go, probably give them to Freddy the moocher, who don't know what he's smoking. This is the first time I have been disappointed in A RP cigar. Wish I hadnt ran out of fact select corojo's, they are the bomb!

They were fine

The review above??? I had none of these issues. No "staining" The flavor was fine..not "stanky" in any way.

A nice cigar

I'm a bit surprized to see the negative reviews. I've gone through several boxes of the Maduro torpedo's and think they are a very nice cigar. I wasn't too crazy about the natural but that's just my preference towards a maduro. I've experienced good draw, nice burn and very nice flavor.

A truly wonderful smoke.

Huge fan of Rocky Patell and these is truly one of his best cigars.

Very good

I've had this maduro (robusto or toro) around for quite awhile sitting in the humidor. It came as part of a sampler, just never got around to try it until today. I really enjoyed it. Nice easy draw, lots of smoke, what I call a Cubanesque flavor - not sweet, more briney or salty ... reminded me of a Mantequilla in flavor.
Nice contrast with a microbrew that did have a sweetness to it. Wish I'd bought some more when I had the money.

CLARIFCATION OF LAST REVIEW

MY LAST REVIEW OF THIS CIGAR ONLY PERTAINS TO MADURO. NOT THE NATURAL WHICH I THOUGHT WAS FINE. NICELY ROLLED, AND NICE MED/FULL SMOKE.

ANYONE FOR 10W30

I GOT THESE IN THE 14 RP TORO SAMPLERS. LET ME TELL YOU. I HAVE BEEN SMOKING PARTAGA BLACK MAGNIFICOS, CAMACHO NEGRO, CAMACHO SAN LUIS& MARTINEZ, AND ALL THE HEAVIEST MADUROS OUT THERE. THIS WAS ONE LOUSY CIGAR, SHAME ON YOU ROCKY. FIRST OF ALL AFTER TORCHING IT I NOTICED BROWN STAINS ON MY FINGERS LIKE 10W30. UPON LOOKING CLOSLY IT LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE BRUSHED 3 IN 1 ON A DARK NATURAL WRAPPER AND CALLED IT MADURO. STANKY TASTE, NOT TO MENTION THE STAIN ON MY SHIRT BECAUSE IT MUST HAVE BRUSHED UP AGINST IT OR I TOUCHED MY SHIRT. ANYWAY PLEASE GUYS AVOID. I DO NOT LIKE NEGATIVITY BUT THIS ONE DESERVES IT. LEE

very nice smoke

i got this one in the sampler pack. 2nd smoke in. this one was really nice. smooth robust flavor, great burn, and very well rolled. ease of draw was the tell of a great roll. i say it's a go.

worst cigar from rp

this cigar has a really nice draw, and it looks nice. those are the only two good things about it though; the taste is way under par and the burn is very uneven. Worst cigar from rocky, i wouldnt ever buy it again.

I gotta give credit where credit is due!

As I always begin, cigar preference is very subjective. To me this is a great cigar, and worth the $5 price. The taste was excellent and complex, with no negative detractions. The draw was as good as it gets. I have found RP cigars to be quite inconsistent, but this one is a winner.

Nice little punch

Bought a box. Love the box press. If you shy away from Maduros, then definitely try one of these. This is a medium to full smoke with a bit of spice and a little punch on the palate.

Not The Best From Rocky

Having smoked almost all of the RP cigars out there, this is not his best. Don't get me wrong, the stick looked very nice out of my humidor, the burn was pretty even throughout, draw was good and a nice ash that held. But the flavor was inconsistent, a little hint of spice here and there but nothing that was a standout.

very tasty

Wow very impressed with the robusto. A different taste than expected. had a caramel, buttery toast smell to the smoke. only downer was uneven burn. Man still smokin this thing as I write this and very tasty. Sometimes cigars just dont burn right and this small problem wont stop me from buying more.

Disappointing smoke, spend your money elsewhere

I am very disappointed in this cigar in almost every way. After loving the 90/92 vintage series and almost everything Indian Tabac has to offer, I decided to buy up as many different types of Patels as I could find (which has significantly damaged my high opinion of Patel cigars). This "Honduran Classic" was only consistent in one way... Consistently inconsistent. Keeping this smoke burning was nearly impossible in any weather condition, indoor or outdoor. Out of the package (boxes and samplers), the looks of every one of these cigars leaves much to be desired (Of the Honduran Classics I received in samplers, some had significant wrapper damage). The flavor was very poor. This could have been due to the horrible burn, bad draw and seemingly poor construction... However since every one of them I smoked was plagued with these same problems it becomes a firm characteristic of the cigar taste, not just the performance. Overall, I would prefer most bundle cigars over this one. If you have Patel favorites, enjoy them, but stay away from this one, less you want your overall opinion of Patel smokes dropped.

you have to try them

Another RP winner. Very different from the Rosado, but outstanding in flavor, construction, and burn.

Balance and affordability

I got a the Rocky Patel 10-cigar sampler pack having fallen in love with the Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Robustos. Don't get me wrong, all Rocky Patels (or at least the ones I've tried) are great cigars. The Honduran classic falls somewhere between the spiciness of the Sun Grown, and the sweetness of the Vintage 1992. Everything about this cigar was perfect, nice smooth "classic cigar " flavor with that silky smooth aftertaste you get with all the Rocky Patels, an easy draw, a perfect wrap, and a great burn. My personal preference is the '92 Vintage but this is still a great cigar. Rocky Patel is the way to get yourself started on cigars, priced affordably just slightly below some "premium" cigars, and a flavor that is light years away from cheap humidor fillers.

wow what flavor

They burn a little funky but off the charts on flavor in this price range

Tasty FIRST one had an uneven burn

Nice, tasty, an uneven burn. The taste changed the last third considerably and had to put it down so it wouldn't ruin the experiance. Will get back after they have slept for awhile.

A must have for a serious smoker

I ordered a 5 pack of these on a sale from Famous Smoke, and enjoyed them very much. I have had the pleasure of smoking the factory seconds in the past and thought they were a great cigar,(even better with time in the humidor), I havent had the opprotunity to be able to purchase them again because they are rarely available. So I got tired of waiting and recently ordered a deal Famous was offering for the Toro's.If you want a first rate cigar, and are willing to pay a little bit, then Rocky Patels are the cigar for you. I know I will be ordering more in the future.

Pretty good

The taste and aroma on these cigars were excellent. I did find a few that didn't burn all that well, but were eminently smokable. No throw outs. I would buy again. This was a good hour cigar.

Enjoyed so much that I reordered to stock the hum

Medium to full bodied. Box pressed but a few rolls with the fingers restores roundness. Even burn with nice long ash. Flavorful begining to end. At this price I passed a few on to friends and their reports back were a good balanced enjoyable cigar. Not as spicy as some other Rocky Patels. The free box of 40 Juniors sealed the deal.
