Good Safe Smoke

A good smoke from RP. A step up for a beginner who wants to venture into naturals. Well made and an easy draw. Flavor is a little inconsistent but good non the less.

What can i say...BUT..

well... what can i say?... it's a rocky. Perhaps i've grown acustomed to getting a premium smoke from RP. Perhaps quality is important at RP...i've yet to discover anything from RP to suggest otherwise. When it comes to Rocky Patel cigars you will rarely be dissapointed. You may not like the strength, or flavour of a RP stick.. but you can never discount the quality. The RP "sun grown" robusto is one such stick for me. It's a great stick that has a great appearance, quality constructed, flavourful stick. The sun grown is less smooth than other RP brands, perhaps it is the intent of RP to have created a stick for people who like a bite to their cigars. The burn was even to the end. The ash was a very light grey, not very firm though(dropped around 3/4- 1 in.) surprisingly, the sitck didn't get hot until the last inch of smoking.
Like i have said this is another quality stick from those fine folks at RP.. it's just not my cup of tea. I doubt i'll be restocking these.. will smoke them if recieve in a sampler or special offer. They really are a good smoke, i just don't like the flavor, and bite i get from these.. try a five pack, you might love these!!

One of the best!

This is one of the best smokes on the planet. The construction is great, burned evenly and the taste is a awesome. I get a mildly spicy smoke feel from these. I highly recommend this cigar

Big hit in a small cigar

Bought 5 of these just to try something by RP. Lots of aromatic smoke and spicy taste to start, that changed to earthy sweetness as the cigar progressed. The only downside I found was a long finish that tasted of nicotine rather than tobacco. A taste I associate with cigarettes rather than cigars.

This was a mouthwatering burst of awesome!

I smoked one of these barbequing out by the pool and it really impressed me. Full of smokey goodness I will say that Rocky Patel got this one just right.

FOREVER SILKY

UPON OPENING FELT SMOOTH AS A BABIES BUTT. LIT IT AND WAS HIT WITH A SMOOTH RICH AND SILKY TASTE. GREAT DRAW AND CREAMY FLAVOR. WAS ONE OF THE BEST BURNS OF ANY CIGAR EVER. WAS STRAIGHT AND TRUE HALFWAY DOWN THE PIKE. HAD TO FORCE IT OFF THE STICK. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

One of the best small cigars

If you want a small cigar with big cigar taste that is consistant and flavorful, this is your cigar. Perfect smoke when you have 20 minutes.

Extreme bad taste

Tried one, bad taste. Tried an other one, became sick. This stick is full of chemicals !

Great short smoke!

These are perfect when you need that medium cigar fix, and dont have more than 15-20 minutes. A must try for any RP fan.

rocky patel toro is one great smoke

famous smoke shop you by far have the best selection of great quality cigars.

Smooth medium body smoke

RP Sun Grown is a great med body smoke. Not as strong as The Edge but quite tasty. The soft red wrapper is outstanding

Flavorful and smooth

Like TJJ said, I was also "pleasantly surprised" by this cigar. I've been smoking cigars for the last 10 years or so, but only seriously for the last year. I think that this is definitely a cigar for both the beginner and the seasoned afficionado alike. I got it through the auction as part of an RP mixed 5-pack, where I was more interested in the Edge Lite and the '92 Vintage that were included, but this one was the first one that I smoked and it made my night. Copious amounts of smoke, nice even burn and draw, and just a touch of spice in the last third. A nice medium-bodied cigar. I would give it an 8 1/2 to a 9.

Good for the size

Not as good as the small Partagas but still surprisingly flavoursome for such a tiny short smoke. They give a good burst of flavour but even though dirt cheap you can still buy the Partagas cheaper and get something with more style. Didn't stain my white gloves either -wot ! Wot !

I think I might like this

First, it is important to note that I prefer med to full bodied cigars late in the day. This one started off VERY full bodied, full strength. So much so, I almost put it out after five minutes. I am glad I stuck with it though. After the intial rush, it smoothed out nicely to a mellow medium bodied woodsy taste. It only got better as it progressed into a very flavorful, aromatic (like a pile of burning leaves)smoke which I was sorry to see end. Overall, complex, full bodied, med to full strength, woodsy, slighty floral smoke with construction and burn as you would expect from RP. Will probably add to my rotation and let sit in my humidor for at least 6-9 months to let it mellow even more.

Well Done

Smoked several of these before writing this. The draw was excellent, burn almost perfect right to the end, the aroma was very robust. Very complex flavor of cedar, earthiness and spices. Really enjoyed the thick volume of smoke. A helluva nice cigar, I would recommend to all.

Awesome cigar

This cigar is tasty right from the beginning to the end. Try dipping the end in cognac and smoking. What a nice pair.

Good Cigar

When this cigar first hit the market..it was fabulous! In recent days I've enjoyed them, however like all Rockys they've lost the luster. Nice in appearence ,but never an even burn.

Wonderful Smoke

I tried this cigar on a whim and believe it is one of the finest cigars I've ever had. Each cigar is very consistent with a wonderful aroma and smooth tast all the way to the end.

very good short smoke

first puff and wow wakes you up with a spice. aroma is pleasant. 1/2 inch later, more tamed down with a sweet aroma. another 1/2 inch and a earthy taste. wants to go out pretty quick, gottastay on top of it. medium finish with earthy grassy taste. overall very good with complexity. good for a beginner wanting to learn a more complex cigar.

Terrific Short Smoke

I've always liked the full-size version of this cigar. Because I work in smoke-free downtown Minneapolis, I like to smoke a short cigar outside after lunch. I have tried most of the 4" by 36 or 38 smokes out there, and this is the best of the lot. It's full bodied, rich and spicy, and produces a volume of smoke unlike any of its competitors (including the Dominican Cohiba, Partagas Black Label, Punch and Hoyo). It's almost like smoking a 15-minute Robusto. At $2 a stick it's a bit more spendy than the above-mentioned counterparts, but its worth it. This is the only cigar out of dozens that I have rated as a "10" across the board. Highly recommended for folks who can't smoke in their office and need a short smoke in between times.

Lives Up to Its Billing

Bought a 5 pack to try these out. The Sixty was firmly rolled but with an easy draw. The cigar burned evenly the entire smoke, and had a beautiful white ash that I allowed to grow to over 3 inches before I flicked it the first time. The Sixty had a pleasent, woody taste that improved with each draw. I'll definitely buy more of these.

Very dissapointed

After trying and thorougly enjoying a five pack of Sungrown Robustos I decided to go for a box of Toros. What dissapointment! These differ from the sampler like night and day. Their burn is irregular, taste more like straw than good tobacco and are even darker than maduros. I am stuck now with this box but I doubt I will buy these sungrown toros again.

Yeah, these are pretty awesome.

The Rocky Patel Sun Grown 60's are VERY tasty smokes. I enjoyed a wonderful Monday evening after work with one of these babies and a cup o' coffee. It's spicy, but not TOO spicy and has subtle changes that keep you interested. Easily worth the price.

Simply an outstanding cigar

O.K. I've waited 6 months to post this. My original goal was to compare the Sun Grown original to the selects. To sum it up the RP Sun Grown is a little smoother with a little less peppery wrapper (wich I don't mind). I have smoked several select bundles after aging for a month each and a full box of the Sun Grown. The RP Sun Grown is a 9+ cigar. Never had a bad draw, the aroma is simply pleasurable, the smoke is full and taste is outstanding. Compares with the Aurora 1495, another excellent Ecudorian sun grown wrapped puro. I did have several petit selects that had a tough draw, a small price to pay for a very well priced cigar. They have the same aroma and consistency, and as noted just a tad more bite. It is essentially my every day cigar, the original I have perhaps one or 2 a week with the aformentioned Aurora 1495. I also enjoy very much the Arturo Fuente Sun Grown, when I can get them. With a glass of fine port in the evening, enjoying one of the Rocky Sun Grown's, either the select or the original will not let you down, with the edge going to the real deal. Enjoy!

Oh, my God.

I've only been smoking good cigars for about a year now, but this Rocky Patel Sun Grown Robusto just wowed me. Excellent draw, consistent burn, smooth, a little spice and just enough sweetness.
I bought a 5 pack. I'm going for a box next time. Excellent, excellent.

Outstanding medium to full body

I was pleasantly suprised by this cigar. The 5 pack was a freebe. I have subsequently ordered a box of the Toros to add to my humidor. Reminds me a lot of a Cuban Punch I had recently. A solid 9 in my estimation.

Excellent, but a tad inconsistent

I have liked everything so far from Rocky. This cigar has terrific flavor and the construction has always been impeccable. It has a nice heft to it as well as a lovely complex nature. My only problem is that out of 10 of these that I have had so far, 4 of them had a pretty tight draw. Nevertheless, this can happen at times as a premium cigar is a natural product made by human hands. The possible flaws are inherently the beauty of the beast. The other 6 that I smoked have been well worth the trouble. I don't like it quite as much as The Edge, but it remains a cigar to always have in your humidor.

Mile High Club

As an employee reward, CubeTech CEO Joe Schmo upgraded my JAL ticket to 1st class, and that's where I met this special stewardess. I had never been with a mature woman, so this was an unexpected, new experience. She escorted me to a special, secret place of unselfish pleasure never experienced before. All I could do is sit their, eyes rolling into the back of my head while she unselfishly offered pleasure from the deepness of her throat. I wish my other girl friends could learn from her. The rest of the flight was a sleepy dream, her feminine smells wafting through every pore of my being. Wow, flying 1st class is a real pleasure for a salary man like me.

Not All That

These Petit Coronas have a very peppery taste. It's like those waiters walking around with pepper grinders at expensive restaurants; except, this one keeps grinding even though you tell him enough. These do have a nice finish, but the smoke hurts the eyes a little. It is a very masculine cigar for a macho kind of guy. I like a cigar with a little more female energy. Why not invite some girls to the party?

Words can't describe how good this cigar is

I am smoking this cigar as I write and can't tell you how good this cigar is. The taste and burn are just superb. Rocky out did himself with this smoke. It is a must smoke for every cigar lover. The taste is so creamy and smooth. I just love this cigar and its quality. Trust me, get one and you will see.

Damn fine cigar

I got this cigar in a sampler pack and what a surprise - this was a damn good cigar! The burn was perfect. It starts out peppery and then mellows out towards the end. Very earthy finish. I smoked it down to the nub with no problems at all. Imight try a five pack.
