the smoothest smoke I have had in a long time

For a medium body cigar these are one smooth smoke with a true taste all the way through.

Not a lot of bang for your buck

I was pleased with this cigar over all. Very well built. However it was just too mild for me. It had a VERY smoothe finish, and a SLIGHTLY creamy, almond flavor. Again I say SLIGHTLY. The cigar is just so mild that you really have to concentrate to know that you are smoking it at all.

My absolute favorite mild smoke.

This is a wonderful mild smoke with more than adequate flavor. It is a beautifully constructed smoke, one of the consistently smooth wrappers I have found on any gar. The burn is good and consistent, the draw is generally great although I have had a few with a lump or two in them that draw was only OK, but never a tosser. In my opinion for the money this is the best mild cigar on the market bar none. This gar can be enjoyed anytime of day. I sorry but I really can't say enough about this gar even though they seem to slip a little in quality about mid 2007; some rough draws, bad burns, hot with a card board after taste but let me tell you they are back and better than ever. The taste reminds me of a mild version of a Zino Platinum or Davidoff but at a fraction of the price.

great cigar

awesome cigar, great tasting, this one is the real deal, perfect for a momento 10 out of 10.

Bravo Toro! Best stick in my box for under $5.

I am very impressed. It compares with some of my much more expensive cigars.

Elegant mild cigar that will satisfy many.

The Reserva Real is a great cigar that is well made and which met most of my expectations except for taste. While the taste is OK it is very mild and somewhat flat. However this is a great smoke if you want one early in the day or just before bed when you don't need a good kick in the ribs. It is a great cigar to share with friends who only smoke on occasion so you don't have to watch them turn green.

Craftmanship and Quality

Just have to say this is the Smoothest, Mildest flavoured and one the Higest quality constructed cigar from RYJ.
I try to limit my Cigar comsumption to a couple a week, but the temptation to smoke these babies one right after the other is insufferable.
Definatley Recomended

A worth-while cigar

An excellent cigar, perhaps the best I've ever had. There is a lot of cedar, and a nutty character. I'd agree with previous reviewers, that this is not altogether, a complex smoke, but nonetheless very enjoyable. Looks and burns great and the price is reasonable. Try one

Handsome, Mild Cigar

First of all, like all the R&J's I've smoked, this is a well made cigar with a beautiful, smooth wrapper and near-perfect cap. I was drawn to this size (4 1/4") in my search for 30-40 minute cigars I can enjoy during my commute and other times when you can't spend over an hour to enjoy a quality cigar. At 54, the ring gauge allows lots of flavor and thick white smoke that most of us cigar guys crave.
I'll admit it was a bit mild for my taste, but only because I mainly smoke maduros and double maduros (oscuro wrapper). But there are times when a milder smoke hits the spot and this is one little fatty I'm happy to recommend. This will remind you of a Macanudo gold label, but priced less with equal quality and a unique size.

Historically one of my favorites, but lately ?????

You know I´ve been smoking the #2´s and Robusto´s for years now. Traditionally this has been one of my stable & premium go to cigars for years. I love the cigars when ther´re right, but lately they haven´t been all that great. All I can ask of the makers of this cigar is, ¨what´s going on with your cigars? The last 2 boxes of these I received have had an inconsistent burn, burned my tongue, and left a really bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. There doing all the things, In my opinion? that poor quality cheap cigars do. They have still preserved the satin soft wrapper, and still have a great bite. But they have been smoking really badly for me lately, just the honest truth. I know a lot of you other reviewers get into the things like the, ¨boutique¨, ¨style¨, ¨Hints of spice¨, Etc. Honestly my own personal pallet is much more basic. This cigar, lately just doesn´t taste right, by my standards, and I´m certain not by their standards. You need to fix this. I would like to mention in closing, the, Reserva Real´s are the only ones I´m really having a problem with. All the others cigars they produce are great smokes, just like there suppose to be.

Not too shabby

This is a nice mild/medium cigar. Construction, smell, draw, taste, all were good. I like a little more complexity in my cigars, but for those who like a mellow smoke, or are new to cigars this works. I will probably buy more for my newbie guests.

Pleased and Dissapointed...

This cigar has a little more flavor than many Milds.. Dunhill, Davidoff... a very nice boquette on startup and good flavor to the end. The problem was a VERY hard draw and uneven burn for most of the cigar. I had to work to smoke this one. I'll give it another try to see if this is a characteristic or a one time thing.

Overall, great smoke

Put a box in the humidor 3 weeks ago, tried 2 yesterday - very nice draw, even burn, creamy white smoke and white ash consistently hung on for 3/4 of an inch. I paired first cigar with brandy, second cigar with dark roast coffee, as expected both brought out slightly different flavors, all of which were very nice. I definitely look forward to my next one.

The Best?Really, the best

I love this cigar! It is truly unbeatable for the price. I enjoyed a whole box, and each cigar was perfect-something I cannot say for so many other cigars. You can light this cigar partially and it will eventually come to a perfect burn. If you want loads of creamy smoke, consistency, the perfect burn, and a flavorful cigar, the Romeo Juliet Reserva Real is the real deal. If I were not a curious cigar enthusiast who enjoys surprise, and did not have the desire for discovering thee unfathomable cigar, I could easily get comfortable with smoking only the Reserva Real.

one of the very best

Wow, what a cigar! I grew up in Europe with easy access to cuban cigars. My problem with most dominican-made cigars is that they either have a very tight draw or turn harsh or even bitter towards the middle, and especially towards the end. This R&J vintage has changed my mind. Easy draw, delicious woody undertones, very complex and flavorul, yet mild and never bitter. I let mine sit in my humidor for about a week and what a difference! If all of the 25 are that good, I'll be coming back for more and more!

Excellent Romeos

Excellent cigars, smooth draw, thick white smoke, very even draw and full of aroma.

OK Smoke

This cigar looked perfect. The flavor was pretty good, mild. Draw was too tight. Burn was very even.

The best Toro you can smoke!

My wife gave me a R Y J Toro sample pack for father's day. What a nice surprise. These are undoubtedly the smoothest, finest burning cigars on the market. I smoked one tonight, while watering the bonsai trees and garden; and this cigar had only two, looonnng, perfect, white ashes. What a smoke! I've already ordered a whole box for my stash.

Awsome smoke a 10 all the way around

The RYJ Toro is a great smoke. The construction is awsome, the burn and the taste awsome. I new it would be a great smoke just from the sight of it. Highly recommended smoke a 10 all the way around.

it was ok

On the aution site I landed a 10 pack sampler in travel case at a great price. The RYJ 1885 is one of my favorites. The Reserva is a nice looking cigar with a beautiful wrapper. It had a dead even burn, lots of smoke, the draw was good, but it was to mild for taste. If you like mild cigars then you will like these.

Very Disapointed

R&J have always been my favorite cigars so i took a shot at what i thought was a new product line from this great maker. I was very disapointed in the quality of the smoke, given the price. The taste was typical of an 1875 but nothing more. The burn was not great. The wraper tended to tear open etc. I would not recomend this stick to anyone at their current price.

NOT THE TRUTH CUOBN CIGAR

alright smoke

Was an ok cigar. Found it tough to draw, taste was decent. Would try again.

A delight to smoke

I first smelled one of these when a friend smoked one, and I had to try it. I was not disappointed! The appearance and construction were beautiful, but the real treat came when I lit it up. What a delightfully smooth and easy draw, producing a mouthful of flavor. Not too strong, but not too weak. A low-maintenance smoke that was consistent right down to the nub. I'm on my way to buy more of these, because they're better than a lot of cigars that cost twice the price.

Smooth, great tasting smoke that's always a winner

It's tough to find a consistantly good smoke that's reasonably priced. These certainly fit the bill. Great draw, stady burn. A real winner.
