One of the best at any price!

Definetly a must have on any top shelf of any humidor!

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by Paul of Longview Washington on November 5, 2008

Nice blend of sweet and smooth. Highly recommend.

Sweet, delicious maduro wrapper and medium to full yet smooth draw. One of my favorite smokes and a great value at that.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by Marc of Connecticut on September 4, 2008

inconsistant

I am finishing up my first box of these smokes and can say I probably won’t reorder these. They aren't bad but I just find something else better. I ordered the Belisco's and find I have to cut much higher on the cigar than with other brands just to be able to draw the smoke. The ends on some of these are wrapped so tightly it’s like trying draw puddin' through a straw. Next!

Fantastic maduro

A smooth blended smoke. The size of the Titan is perfect. I have bought several boxes and a few individuals and have yet to have a single problem. Always available and a bargain for the price. I've had to switch from the Partagas Black Labels to these.

wrapper will no stay lit

i bought the rothchild a very nice looking cigar and the flavors not bad but the wrapper will not stay lit.it burns on the inside and you have to keep cutting the outside wrapper off. would not buy again.

An old time favourite

Not for ever day even though they are cheap as chips. Always a pleasure to find in a humidor and come back to. For some reason English women seem to really like the aroma of these too. I go for these fat robusto/rothchildes when wanting a good cigar and have a relaxing hour to waste and can't justify smoking a more expensive cigar. Every humidor should have some.

ITS BEEN A WHILE

I got a single stick of these and wow, it has been a while. Great cigar, strong punch in that after I was done I knew I smoked a Cigar. Many cigars I smoke I could smoke one after the other and just get board with it. Not this baby, one was enough for a while and that too me is a good cigar and mind you I do not inhale so if you like some potient cigars try this, plus it burned well, good construction and worth it.

doesn't get any better

This was one of the best kept secrets, for the price it doesn't get any better. Great smoke!

yall musta got bad ones cuz mine was GREAT!

not sure why so many are so down on this cigar! Just dont get it. burned well, nice ash, spicy, fresh taste, long burn, consistent flavor, good price, built well, no runs, no flakes...highly enjoyable without a doubt. Hey, not every 'gar can be a montecristo, geesh....a+

Good smoke. These guys are gay.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by Diesel of Pittsburgh on January 19, 2008

Waste of my money

This is the second cigar that I have ditched before finishing. The taste was offensive; like a Thompson special with short fillers from the floor of a tobacco barn. I'll pass on this one.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Brian of Kentucky on January 12, 2008

worst drawing cigar i ever smoked

usually smoke rothchilde maduros, but they were out at the store, so i bought these. im sorry but i could never get past how hard they were to smoke. smoked all but one of the box and they were all the same.

Another great smoke

I know its fashionable marketing to go for the rocky patels of this world these days but frankly these St Luis Rey range is better than those. No duds either.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by CreekEnd of UK on October 27, 2007

No wonder they are so bad...

I recently purchased a box... These were not the Saint Luis Rey Titan's I remember, I smoke these frequently, in fact, half of my box of cigars were constructed very bad. I did some research and found out that many other people have had the same problem. It could be that maybe they are being constructed under new management or a new factory. I'm not quite sure but I wouldn't purchase this unless you see it physically to make sure its constructed well enough to smoke.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Andrew Lee of New York on October 24, 2007

Bad

I did not like this cigar at all, it had a horrible taste, and the construction is bad. It is highly overpriced and I will definitely not buy it ever again.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Justin of So Cal on October 23, 2007

An alright cigar

This cigar was decent. It had a good construction, and the taste was a little spicy. It is not worth the price they are asking, you can probably get a better deal with a Diablo cigar.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas on October 23, 2007

A disgrace to cigar smokers.

Do not be fooled, this cigar is not good. I'd rather buy a pack of Caridad's than these. Bland taste, poor burn, flaky construction, the list continues.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by John of Carlsbad, California on October 23, 2007

This cigar was slightly disappointing...

I was highly anticipating my arrival of the Saint Luis Rey Titans. I was expecting it to be very high quality considering the price, but to my dismay, it was the exact opposite. After the first half of the cigar, the taste was somewhat spicy, but for the most part, a let down. I had heard this was a decent cigar but I guess its just not for me. The cigars construction is arguably very good, and it burns alright. I don't know why the customer reviews are so low, but they are low on other cigar websites as well. I will definitely not waste my humidor space on these mellow and bland tasting cigars, however I will give them away at the golf course, they look expensive, but don't be fooled, not all expensive looking/priced cigars are good.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Mica Mefflin of Chicago on October 23, 2007

Disgusting...

I just tried another cigar after having a few and it was bad. The taste is pretty plain, it lacks flavor. The burn is horrible, and you will need to relight it like 12 times in a single smoke, the smoke is not worth the ordeal of having to tend to it over and over. Don't be surprised when you open a box and find numerous cigars literally un-use able, in my pack of 25, I had roughly 7 cigars that weren't even constructed well enough to smoke. This is not my first Saint Luis Rey, but it will be my last.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Mike of Canada on October 23, 2007

Horrible cigar

This cigar was surprisingly bad. The taste was plain and inconsistent. The construction was horrible, cigar literally crumbled in my hands. Either I got a batch of bad cigars, which is highly unlikely considering that I tried 4, or they just aren't a good cigar.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Justin of Vista, California on October 23, 2007

No so good

Overall construction was quite nice as was the even burn. The downside being the draw was consistently plugged from start to finish. I did actually enjoy the flavor (basic medium... but in a good way) for the 1/2 but ended up giving up on it long before 'nub time'.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by Kaptain of Seattle, WA on October 21, 2007

Great cigar

I throughly enjoyed this cigar. Great draw and great taste. The only problem I have had is they are never in stock.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Mike of Nashville on October 17, 2007

Get some

I worked my way through a box of these and was very impressed. Good full body flavor, consistent draw great price. Goes well with coffee or a nice stoat Beer.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by Rich of Rancho Cordova on October 16, 2007

Terrible!

I've smoked these before, and thought they were good, but this box is awful: spongy construction, wrappers that blister when lit, and a total unwillingness to stay lit. I thought a few months in the humidor would do them some good, but not so. I'll never order these again!

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Pat of Spokane, WA on October 2, 2007

Worst Cigar I've Tried

I don't know how they have such a high rating. I enjoy full-bodied cigars. This cigar was awful, no flavor at all. I bought a 5 pack, tried 2, threw them both out after about half. I gave 1 to my brother-in-law, he hatted it too. Don't waste your money.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde 5 Pack by Paul Snyder of Lakeville, MN on September 2, 2007

Great to look at.......BUT

This is one great looking smoke. However they require a lot of work to be enjoyable. No easy draw here, just a good workout to get any smoke at all. Unfortunately, with the exception of two, the entire box had this problem.

Saint Luis Rey Cidars

I love the Saint Luis Rey Dark Cigar from the frist time that I tried them. That is all I smoke, and I feel the same for the Serie G Dark. I give the Saint Luis Rey a 9.9

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Manuel Rivera of MA on July 12, 2007

AWFUL, AWFUL.

NOTHWITHSTANDING MY MODEST EXPECTATIONS BASED ON THE LOW PRICE, I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW BITTER AND NASTY-TASTING THIS CIGAR WAS. I TOSSED THE FIRST ONE AFTER ONE PUFF, THEN TRIED TWO MORE IMMEDIATELY. EASY DRAW BUT THE TASTE WAS WORSE THAN THE CHEAPEST BUNDLE STICK IN DECADES.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by HOWARD of  on June 5, 2007

An excellent cigar with a perfect draw and burn.

This is an outstanding cigar. It's inexpensive and has a perfect draw that leads to a great taste. The smooth burn gives off mountains of smoke.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Don of Near Savannah on June 2, 2007

Smooth...

This was a very smooth cigar to smoke. The construction was fantastic with an even burn the whole way down. Smooth draw. Well packed tobacco with some weight. Just felt good to hold it in my hand. Will definitely keep a few in the humidor for guests!

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde 5 Pack by Sean of Montesano on May 22, 2007

EXCEPTIONAL SMOKE

I found this cigar to be extremely flavorful, very well constructed and an absolute pleasure to smoke. Beautiful even burn w/a splendid gray ash and the draw was just a bit on the tight side but not enough to bother with.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by DENNIS JOHNSTON of CALIFORNIA on May 22, 2007

Worth every penney

This cigar has become one of my favorites. They came from famous nearly ready to smoke. Once they had aged properly I began smoking them and found one of the best cigars you will ever buy(no matter the price). The taste is of cedar, leather, and black coffee. The finish is long with a sweet nutty flavor.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Churchill by Charles Autrey of Al on April 21, 2007

This is a big beautiful cigar

This is a big beautiful cigar with a dark toothy wrapper. The first one I smoked was a little young but after about three weeks in my humidor they were near perfect. The the burn was even and the draw very good for a cigar of this size. The taste is of coffee and deep wood with a nice long finish.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Titan by Charles Autrey of AL on April 21, 2007

THE MADURO IS A GREAT CIGAR

It is a very enjoyable smoke. Take your time and enjoy. It is that type of cigar. Along with EL RICO CUBANO cigars, you need nothing else. A good medium plus smoke with a nice draw, good ash and consistent taste. After two weeks in the humador, they are outstanding.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by BOB SMITH of STRATFORD on February 14, 2007

Great Cigar

I got onto this cigar when it got a "91" from Cigar Afficionado yet was VERY economically priced. For the price you can't do much better than this cigar. It is very smooth. Has a great draw. It is boxed pressed, which I don't mind, but some do. The apppearance is not the best, but the flavor lasts almost to the band. I found it a great cigar. Make sure you get the churchill size

Good Cigar for the Price.

Although I prefer the "Serie-G" line, these little cigars are pretty tasty. I can't say they're anything to write home about, but it's certainly not the worst smoke I've had. I recommend you try a five-pack.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde 5 Pack by Sean of Chattanooga, TN on January 8, 2007

Overrated

This cigar recently received a 90+ rating from Cigar Aficionado. After reading this glowing review I decided to buy a box. I'm not sure if they rated it so highly because the value (mid $60), but I was disspointed. The construction was shotty and I had to relight several times within the first half hour. It was over powering and just didn't balance out. I've read that this cigar improves with age so I'm going to wait it out. I'd highly recommend that you try a 5 pack prior to purchasing an entire box.

Made my mouth water!

I wasn't expecting this cigar to be as enjoyable as it was by the price I paid. It was a beautifully made cigar, and the pre-light smell was nice. From start to finish this was a fantastic full bodied smoke. It really got my mouth watering too, which is a good sign. Based on this experience, I would invest in a box.

"Worst Cigar I ever smoked"

I reviewed this cigar a few months after I bought them from JR. Kept them for about 8 months hoping that the aging would improve them. They did burn a bit better.... still chewed my tongue up and tasted awful. Threw the last 12 in the box away.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Churchill by seegar man of texas on August 11, 2006

Fine Full Flavored Maduro

I smoked one right out of the box and it was a bit harsh. After 5 weeks in my humidor the SLR Belicoso really smoothed out into a fine full bodied smoke. I also didn't perceive any burn or draw problems. Considering the price I rate it a 9.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Emanuel Lekas of CA on August 5, 2006

Very Disappointed

The Belicosa fit the profile of my preferences and the reviews were good, so I decided to try a box. Most of the cigars were so tight that they wouldn't draw well, and of course, turned bitter. Even three days in a drawpoker didn't help. The wrapper on the few that I could smoke proceeded to unwrap. Simply a poorly constructed cigar.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Ken S of Syracuse on July 12, 2006

Excellent

Living in Europe, I have unrestricted access to Cubans. The SLR is probably the closest to Cubans of all non-Cubans in flavor, aroma and wrapper color. Even the draw is a bit tighter just like Cubans....Remove the band and you can easily take it for a Cuban Monte#2. Excellent cigar

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Christian of Romania on June 2, 2006

"In the List"

Very enyoyable and pleasant cigar, it has a very good burn and construction, with a hard and long ash , the flavor is mild-medium, smooth, with sweet and floral character, very recomemndable for a short evening, I considered this one on my 20s list !!

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by Abelardo of San Diego CA on April 3, 2006

Worst cigar I ever smoked

I bought a box from another internet dealer about 2 months ago. Not Reserva Especial. Worst cigar I ever smoked. Chewed my tongue off, would not stay lit, horrible taste. Almost gave up cigars after 40 years. I would not touch anything this company makes. Period.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Churchill by joe of texas on March 31, 2006

SLR reminds me of why I started smoking to begin w

This was my first premium smoke some years ago. A beautiful, deep, rich experience- Saint Luis Rey really puts together a very satisfying recipe of fine tobaccos. I have tried all of the top brands, and find myself always coming back to this one. For quality, regardless of price, this is a top cigar that delivers and consistently reminds me of why I started smoking to begin with.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by JHS of NYC on March 22, 2006

Good, medium-body smoke at a good price

This is based on 2 Toros. Nice wrapper/construction, burned well, a medium bodied smoke, a bit milder than I expected, but a decent smoke at a reasonable price. Not a deep, complex flavor but pretty darn good.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Pete C of Bristol, CT on March 14, 2006

Horrible

This was maybe the worst cigar I have ever smoked. It tasted like burning leaves. It canoed from the start. The wrapper had no taste to it all. I had to stop smoking it because it burned down into the center so far that it became hollow near the cap. I would never even consider buying these again. I wouldn't even take one as a gift.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by Vince M of Altoona, PA on March 11, 2006

Nice value

Have smoked about 10 of these so far and they are very consistent. Medium strength, excellent draw, decent flavor. The only complaint is the cigar has to be continually relit. After reading the belicoso reviews, I'm switching to those. Not a bad gar for the $.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by Jimmy G. of St. Louis on January 22, 2006

Buy these

This applies to the SLR Corona, their Double Corona, and their Rothechild... Want a really, really good cigar? Buy these. Period.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Corona by Jim M of Indian Lake Estates, Florida on January 14, 2006

Really nice cigar

This is a beautifully made cigar. A little heavier than medium it has a nice complex mix of flavors. Most are good to the nub, a few turn bitter as you approach the band. No problem with canoeing or other defects that prevent you from smoking the entire cigar (my pet peeve - you pay $5 for a cigar and can only smoke half of it. Does'nt that make it a $10 cigar?)

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Steve of Scottsdale on November 8, 2005

Excellent

Take off the band and lay it aside a Montecristo #2. It is very similar in appearance, construction, draw, color of the wrapper and taste. Very good cigar

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Belicoso by Cristian B of Resita (RO) on October 10, 2005

Relaxing Smoke

I found this to be a very relaxing smoke. A great conversation cigar. A fine choice of tobacco blend. I would suggest this cigar to newcomer and veteran. Outstanding on all levels; burn consistency, draw and flavor.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by David B. K of Fresno, CA on October 2, 2005

Great Cigar at a reasonable price

I found these to be great tating and very well constructed full body cigars. I will have a supply in my humidor from now on.

Everyday, consistently a good cigar.

Been smoking cigars regularly (1 per day) for 5 or so years. I have rarely purchased a brand more than twice, just to try something new. St. Luis Rey is now a regular purchase. Great tasting and enjoyable smoke.

What a cigar should be

This is a great cigar ,full of flavour, constructed beautifully, and smokes like a dream,a true deal at its current price.Anyone saying this is a bad smoke does not know cigars!!!!

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Churchill by Wayne Hadley of Archbald,Pa on August 9, 2005

Dried out, hot, and harsh

This is the most disappointing purchase I have made in 10 years of cigar smoking. My expectations were high after reading the review of these in CA. I tried 2 cigars out of the box and both were horrible. They were extremely dry, burned very hot, and tasted like burning paper. This will be the first box of cigars I have ever returned.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde by Todd of California on July 14, 2005

My favorite cigar

This cigar has fantastic flavor, is well constructed, burns well, is consistent, and has great aroma. It smokes and tastes like an expensive cigar. They'll always be on my buy list.

Great Full Bodied Flavor - A Keeper!

Have been smoking the Punch - Double D - Roth for over five years and in last five months found them to be terrible at best. Inconsistent draw, burn and especially taste. Tried the St. Luis Rey Roth and have fallen in love. Nice full bodied smoke, burn and draw have been great and consistent and best of all it not only looks great, it is, this one's now "A Keeper".

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by Len Crouch of Albany, NY on July 30, 2004

What a smoke!

I saw these in the smoke shop humi and had to give them a try. The rothchilde is a whopper of a smoke not overpowering.I burned mine alway to the nub and it never got spongy. Draw was a little tight in the middle but got better as it went on. The aroma is sweet and the flavor is top notch in this price range.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by J.C. of Madison,WI on July 25, 2004

Smooth Full Flavor

More than pleased with this Cigar. Full bodied without any harshness. Nice construction and burn. Draw was firm but not intolerable. A pleasing aroma and notable complexity of flavors really define this cigar as a well rounded smoke in this price range.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Willie of New Mexico on July 12, 2004

RICH AND DELICIOUS

I gave these a try and was very glad I did. I don't know what the line was like b/4 as I am new to this game but I found these to be great. Meaty is the best way I can describe them. Very filling. Hints of dark coffee, and molassases. Another one that will go great with a good cup of french roast coffee.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde (non cello) by JOHN B of MONROE NY on July 9, 2004

A great find for the price

I bought these because of the name/maker & the glowing reviews & my instincts were correct. This is a VERY good smoke for the price. It has a good burn, a good full flavor, nice ash & good construction. The draw is the weakest point (just a little tight), but I can deal with that because everything else makes up for it. I WILL be buying more of these.

This review was written about Saint Luis Rey Toro by Troy Fisher of Denver, CO on July 6, 2004

A nice Cigar for the front porch

Found this to be a very nice smoke for those evenings when I have the time to smoke one down to the nub. A flavorful cigar that burns well and does not bite back. Quite a nice value.

My second box of SLR Churchills...

My first box of SLR Churchills was excellent. I just recieved another box and smoked the first one last night. Also in my humidor are Sancho Panza Double Maduro 7x54, Ramon Allones 5.5x54, Partagas Black Label and Fonseca 5x50. The SLR's are unique, and fill the strength niche above the Fonsecas and below the Sancho Panzas
