Bought these with some reservations. But what a surprise. Good smoke for the price. Rough but good draw and taste. Will buy again for my everyday or more smoke.

Suprise! Great cigar.

Took a chance on a bundle of these. Outstanding for a $1 cigar. Not much to look at but decent flavor, very mild all the way down to the label. Excellent construction. Will order again.

HUGE SMOKE FOR A SMALL PRICE!

Very surprised at the overall VALUE in this cigar. Typical smooth "mexi" smoke. Slightly fast on the burn but you learn to pace yourself with these. Great "poker night" smoke. They are even cheap enough to pass around.I will definetly buy more.

Only good fresh

It tastes decent with good draw and burn when you first get it. But after sitting in the humidor for awhile it tastes terrible. That goes for all the Tabamex.

This review was written about Tabamex Robusto by Gavin of hawaii on March 2, 2008

Speedy Gonzales would slow down for these

A perennial favorite. Nothing but positives for these smokes. I always keep a stash in the humidor. Don't buy any. They might jack up the price.

This review was written about Tabamex Toro by Ed Davis of Arkansas on February 14, 2008

garbage at best

contemplated buying these after reading the description and reviews. landed a couple in a sampler - thank god. these things taste so bad, i couldn't get a quarter of the way through the cigar. these won't find their way into my humi.

This review was written about Tabamex Robusto by r seaman of canastota, ny on January 22, 2008

Nice from the start

A nice mild cigar with no suprises. The first one smoked well and needed no extra attention during the whole smoke. We'll see how the rest of them finish off.

They're Good

One of the things I like about Famous Smoke is reading the reviews before I buy. I bought these because of the good reviews. The Presidente is a huge smoke, good flavor , good draw, stays lit, and burns even and I got them at a special price. Wish I had bought more.

This review was written about Tabamex Presidente by Jimmy of Kansas on October 21, 2007

Not a bad smoke, but a bit weak

I enjoyed the flavor of this cigar. I thought it was more of a medium rather than a full flavored cigar. The only bad things were the burn and the mess. This is one of the messiest cigars I have ever had.

This review was written about Tabamex Robusto by Reg of Florida on October 14, 2007

Bueno

Yes, they have a dumb name and they are ugly. But after about 6 weeks in the humi these are a nice mild smoke with a unique flavor and aroma. A fantastic value.

This review was written about Tabamex Rothschild by borndead1 of Kalamazoo, MI on July 23, 2007

Muy Bueno

Nice cheapo smoke, mild but has flavor. Word of warning though, they don't burn well above 54% humidity. One of the best $1 cigars around.

NICE!!!!!!!!

Nice and smooth, better than store brands. Its damn good for the price. Ill buy more!!!

A real "BANG" for your buck.

A real solid everday, two, three times a day cigar. Great "Bang" for your buck smoke.

This review was written about Tabamex Toro by Bill Balicki of  on May 29, 2007

bigger than life

Not bad. Bigger than I expected. Its advertised as 5x50, but the bundle label reads 5.5x52. Putting that aside, the taste is pretty good, nice draw, and the flavor is good enough to make me look forward to one every now and again.

This review was written about Tabamex Robusto by Steve Tindall of DE on May 23, 2007

Good Stuff

What a tasty smokey treat . Burn is a little fast but other than that you get a great cigar with that Mexican twang .

This review was written about Tabamex Presidente by Smokey Da Mota of AZ. on May 17, 2007

Gotta smile

Bought these based on previous comments. Very surprised on how decent they are. Some are a little tight in the draw, but burn well. Taste is initially good, but starts to fade at the 1/2 way point (45 minutes of smoking), but for less than a $1.50 a stick...you can throw them away.

Great Mexican Smoke

Have smoked Te Amo for years, tried Tabamex as a lesser priced alternative, found Tabamex lacked a little in taste compared to Te Amo but still an excellent Mexican cigar. Won a bundle of 25 on auction and they were very consistent throughout with good burn, easy draw, nice firm ash and deliciously creamy smoke. Nice taste evolution as they burn down, smoked 'em to a nub, liked the hot spicy finish. Medium aftertaste. Will buy more bundles for everyday cigars.

Interesting Cigar

Si Si, Senor y Senorita

I love these guys, from the pre-light earthy, cow-pasture aroma (not for everyone), to the great taste, to the ample smoke. That volcanic soil does something very special that keeps me coming back for more.

Wonderful cigar at this price!

I have purchased many cigars at this price point but cannot remember any reaching the level of consistency and quality that the Tabamex Presidente provides. Smooth draw, light yet flavorful, firmly rolled, bound, and wrapped, you won't be disappointed. I have been dissappointed in most Mexican made cigars in the past, this is most definitely an exception, and an exceptionally fine cigar overall.

A Mexican Surprise

After smoking a Te Amo many years ago, I was very reluctant to try any other Mexican smoke. In short, the Te Amo was one of the worse cigars I ever had to consume. However, I won another auction and picked up a bundle of 25 Tabamex Toro for just $17.00. Needless to say, my expectation of this smoke was very low. After firing up this Tabamex, I was quickly surprised. This maduro wrapper had a pleasant mild cedar taste. It was well constructed with an even burn. It measured 6 x 50 and the draw was painless. This Tabamex Toro has given me new hope that Mexican cigars are improving. Again, these smokes only cost $0.68 and make a nice everyday smoke. If you want to broaden your humidor to include some smokes south of the border, you may want to try Tabamex Toro. MonkeyDan Rating: 83

Glad I took a chance on this one!!!

OK why do I feel the need to apologize when offering my fellow enthusiasts a Mexican cigar? This is a great smoke regardless of price!!! Look out Nicaragua ….. Smooth draw. and gets better to the finish!!! Spicy comes to mind.

WOW

Really good cigar. Nutty taste, clean burn. I will buy many more!

Lasting smoke for on the golf course & off!

This smoke, lasts and lasts while burning even and smooth while taking many abuses from a golfing hacker. Many of my golfing buddies consider it unfair, as I use its length as an illegal training aid, with proper placement that is!

My new "work outside smoke"

Just won these robusto naturals, opened one up from the bundle and started mowing the grass. The wind messed up my light, but it corrected nicely. Easy to draw, and no harsh after-taste. This will definitely be one of my outdoor-work, play cigars. Thanks Famous.

Good mild smoke

Got these in earlier in the week for around $.80 a stick. Great looking cigar and aroma prior to lighting. Once lit it had a perfect burn, a little loose. Good volumes of of creamy mild smoke which turns a little fuller as you get to the end. I think I let these age another 30 days before I try another to see what happens.

This review was written about Tabamex Rothschild by JD Gautreaux of LA on September 9, 2006

Excellent, creamy smoke with good finish

Tried and loved the Tabamex robusto natural, and decided to try a bundle of the maduro toro. Lit one up the day I got 'em in the mail, and was extremely pleased. Creamy and tasty, with a pleasant lingering finish. Effortless draw, one of the best of any cigar I've ever smoked. Only had to "touch up" twice in 90 enjoyable minutes, smoking it almost down to the nub. Highly recommended as an affordable option to Te Amo, for Mexican cigar lovers.

Quick, hot, tasty smoke

I LOVE Mexican cigars, and was looking for something more affordable than a Te Amo. Bought these to see how they compared, and they had that great, creamy, earthy taste Mexican cigar smokers love. These burn quick, and a bit hot, but very tasty. You can smoke almost half of it before knocking the ash off. Very good option for a quick smoke, as the draw is effortless, and can finish in 15-20 minutes. Just won a bid on maduro toro version, and hope to have the same or better experience.

This review was written about Tabamex Robusto by Gengar of Jacksonville, NC on June 15, 2006

Better then Tae Amo

This is one of the better Mexican Cigars. I feel it's a lot better than TE AMO for a lot less dollars. Good ash, not a bad medium body and flavored smoke (nice blend of maduro and spice). Draw is easy and a good deal of smoke. I would rate this cigar a 7.5.

Middle of the road

I've been experimenting with value bundles in my orders, trying to stretch that buck as far as it will go, and still get great quality. I'm "That Guy" they talk about who can squeeze blood from a stone.....So, naturally Tabamex grabbed my attention when I saw the price, and read the description. To start: The maduro wrapper is not the best I have ever seen, somewhat larger veins running along the outside, not a beauty queen by any means. They draw fantastic for the most part, with reasonable tolerance in variation. Firm, good ash, hold together well. Taste: They aren't the best cigars I have ever smoked, and the taste can range from fairly nice to slightly unpleasant. This ain't no Baccarat, and it ain't no Flor de Oliva...But they can be great to give out to friends, and to stretch your dollar when you are looking for a decent hand-rolled, all tobacco cigar to fill out the rotation in your humidor. I'm not doing backflips over this one, but they aren't getting sent back, either. If Baccarat Sumatra '97 is a "home run" in terms of value, this one is more like a 2-bagger...I'll take it, but I wanted more.

Much better than expected

You need to keep in mind that these are cigars that average $1.00 a stick. If you're expecting a Partagas or similar cigar, you're going to be disappointed. But with that out of the way, WOW! This may very well become my new daily smoke. Even though I'm more of a fan of the stronger blends, and the Tabamex is medium at best, it has a suprising ammount of flavor for such a low priced cigar. It started of mellow and creamy, turned almost 'earthy' about half way through, and was nice and strong on the finish. I found myself smoking it down to a nub just to see how it would taste next. Construction was fine. It was rolled a bit on the lose side which caused it to burn hot if smoked too hard, but that also allowed for a large volume of smoke, which I like. I'm sure that I'll run into plugged or unsmokable ones eventually. But if you get 20 out of 25 that are good, at this price, you're still way ahead. If you smoke alot of cigars and price is a concern, you can't really miss with this one.

Speedy Gonzales..

It was a hot cigar. I'm not a big fan of the Mexican cigars, but this one was a joy. It burned a little hot which I enjoyed and it had a ton of flavor. If you have to stand out in the cold to smoke, this is the cigar for you. I'll take a box for the speedy cigar.

Bueno

I didn't have high expectations for the Tabamex Rubusto when I bid on these cigars. I like variety and don't mind being disappointed that here and there, it is after all part of learning from experience isn't it? The draw was just fine, burn was even, but most importantly the flavor was pleasing to my palette. Simply put, I liked them.

Good Value for the Money

Made with San Andreas tobaccos, this is the poor man's Partagas....lots of smoke, aroma, easy draw.

great

I gotta say, when I ordered these I wasn't exspecting much, You usually get what you pay for right? Well I was wrong, These are some of the best smokes for the price i've had.they have a good flavor and consistent burn for the most part. A great value. I will definitely be ordering more.

Good smoke.

This is a great cigar. Smooth draw, good volume of smoke, great taste. If this is what we can expect from Mexican cigars, I cant wait to try some more.

Started out promising, then went downhill

I got the robusto maduro in their maduro sampler and I thought, at first, that this was gonna be another winner - especially after the La Floridita and the Flor de Oliva (great smokes, BTW!). It started out with a really good, deep flavor, but when it got down towards the halfway mark, the taste became bitter to the point where that's all there was. I like to drink a big glass of filtered water sometimes when I'm smoking a cigar in order to cleanse my palette between tokes, but the taste became so nasty and one-sided that I pitched this abomination and downed the rest of the water. If only Famous would have put another La Floridita Maduro in the sampler by mistake instead of the Tabamex!

Herbal Cigar? No Thanks

I thought I would give this cigar a try, so I won a bundle in an auction.(Glad I didn't pay the full price) Let them sit for a few days and then fired one up. Not bad until about have way then it turned BAD. I mean really bad! It tasted like shampoo! I tossed it but that flavor just stayed in my mouth and it just got worse. It was horrible! So after about 2 weeks I tried again with pretty much the same results. I have read the other reviews of these cigars and wonder to myself if I'm missing something or are we talking about the same cigars. The only good things about this cigar is construction and a nice light draw. As for the rest, No Thanks!

Tabamex Maduro Presidentes = vote for second term!

Got a bundle of these Tabamex Maduro Presidentes off of Cigarauctioneer.com. I bought them to hand out to my friends, but I must say that I will be keeping them. Low Price and Good taste. Another winner from Famous Smoke!

Tababad

Well made, nice draw, but tasted horrible. Tasted like cheap dirty tabacco without a finish. Would not recomend.

Not Bad for a Cheapie

I've been looking for a decent cigar at a low price so I ordered Famous' sampler of bundle cigars. I just finished my first cigar from this assortment - the Tabamex Rothschild. I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. It's very smokable, well-built with a good draw. It started a little harsh but smoothed out. I wanted a little more cigar by the end, so maybe a longer one would've been better. As I've seen another poster remark, the cigar has very little aftertaste, which is unfortunate, but it was a nice smoke for the money.

This review was written about Tabamex Rothschild by David Goodman of Smyrna, TN on January 11, 2005

Well Made But ..........Nothing Else

Well Made. Hard packed, Burned Weli, nice band. A lot of effort for little taste. I've paid as much for equally untasty cigars but at least this one was well made.

Great Smoke For The Buck

I ordered a bundle of Tabamex Robustos for a friend at work. They came with a six stick sampler and I decided to try one. Well I am on my 4th one and needless to say the sampler is mine. Very good cigar, very easy draw, great taste and nice volume of smoke. For the buck, you cannot go wrong on this smoke. Great for everyday and especially good with a strong cup of coffee.

Still waiting for the finish

I tried the Robusto, natural as part of a sampler. Initial reaction was "great taste and pleasant draw. It burned fair. The disappointment was in the finish-their was virtually no lingering after taste- a good flavor on the draw and then nothing. Maybe this is why there are so few reviews? Of course it isn't totally fair to judge from one specimen.

What a pleasant surprise!

I ordered the Tabamex rothschild maduro bundle and was very skeptical, but there was a special of buy one bundle get one free. I'm a poker man and figured I'd gamble and play my hand---if I did like it, I'll have two bundles to enjoy. I was NOT disappointed! While this cigar is a little rough around the edges, it draws like a dream! Before lighting it, I noted a sweet, almost jasmine like scent to the tobacco. The taste was pure tobacco richness with a spicy zest. No "coffee" or "nuts", just pure, spicy tobacco flavor. It has a very subtle hint of sweetness. The burn was very consistant with very even white ash until midway down when it did canoe a bit, though that didn't interfere with enjoyment. I'd rate this cigar a "full house", jacks over tens.
