Fantastic Stick

Smooth and creamy. Excellent finish. Haven't tried all of RP's sticks yet, but to date this one is second only to Honduran Classic Maduro in my book.

Its all about the draw

I heard that Rocky draw tests every cigar they make. Must not test these. I have smoke a lot of these and a good percentage draw so tight that you can't smoke them. If the draw is good, they are as good as any cigar made. If not, you wasted your money.

Delightful, full flavor, well made

Wonderful Rocky. Begins spicy and dry. Half-inch down it gets delightful to the end - draws smooth & full, not overly spicy, kinda earthy, nice even burn. An atta-boy for this Rocky!

Simply the best

You can buy a more expensive cigar....but why? Almost always a perfect smoke. Never an after taste.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Sixty by CaptJoe of Dallas on October 7, 2008

Papery - Short Harsh Finish

Really thought this would be great, but oh well. Absolutely no flavor. Compare to a Nat Sherman Banker Maduro. Tasted like a machine made cigar. Completely uneventful. End cap fell off. Uneven burn. Usually a cigar has different characteristics throughout the smoke. Same soapy flavor all the way through. Veiny, coarse wrapper with visible stem parts and holes no less. No wonder they sell so many factory seconds.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Sixty 5 Pack by Gil of Boston on October 3, 2008

EXCELLENT

It started off with a hint off sweetnes. As i got through there was a little bit of a chemical taste to it that went away very quickly. It burned almost perfectly throughout. As I got near the end it was not too spicy or too ashy in flavor. I really didn't want to put it out. The buzz was very constant throughout instead of being very strong at first and leaving you with a crash. I had only left it in my humidor for a week. I have 20 more which i will try to mature a little longer and see how the flavor goes. One of the best cigars I have smoked in my lifetime. Very good choice for beginners and experts. PEACE

Short Story, Watch Out - RP Perfecto is Here!

I bought a fiver of the Vintage 1990 Perfectos to see how they stacked up to the A. Fuente Hemingway Short Story. I smoked one right out of the envelope, practically, and it's a GREAT little stick!

Does not burn well, moderate quality taste

A bit diappointing. Lit it four times. Hints at rich, robust taste but not complex at all.

Not what I was expecting

Bought one of these in a build your own sampler last week. This is a great-looking, perfectly constructed cigar. I found the draw to be on the tight side. The flavor started out nice and smooth as reported but after about 2/3rds of the stick it abruptly turned harsh and hot and I couldn't finish it. Maybe I got a bad one?

A very, very nice cigar. I think this sixty ring is great.

A WINNER FOR SURE

I THINK YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS ONE. BOTH WRAPPERS ARE GREAT BUT THE MADURO IS MY FAVE. PROBABLY THEIR MOST POPULAR LINE TO DATE. GOOD BURN, GREAT DRAW, I'M NOT BIG ON PLAY BY PLAY ON THE FINISH. EVERYONE'S PALLET IS DIFF. BUT SMOOTH RICH AND ROBUST ARE A GOOD OPINION.

The Sixty, big fat & delicious from start to end!

This cigar had the perfect draw, perfect burn, and perfect taste. It looks great, feel's great in your hand, and was a pleasure from the first puff to the last. Just be sure you have a lot of time on your hands, because this one took a while.

Hey yoop from Oklahoma try using humidor

Sometimes I think people have nothing better to do than to be negative. The 92 vintage is at least a 9.5 rated cigar one of the best I have ever smoked. But of course I had to take mine out of the humidor before I smoked it!!!

an absolute dream to smoke

the rocky patel vintage line is perhaps one of their best. I have tried thee 90, 92, and the 99 vintage sticks(smoked several of each vintage). While all are great smokes, i prefer the 90 vintage sticks the best. This stick is just so smooth, and mild, it is hard to believe you're smoking a cigar, as it is just so smooth and mild smoking. the draw is almost perfect, perhaps just on a scoche on the hard draw(and i mean damn near perfect). the flavor is full bodied, but mild. the burn is even and slow, with a tendency to extinguish if left for a few mins. the ash is firm, uniform, and drops after about an inch and a half. All in all, this well constructed, great tasting, mildly aromatic, and beautiful looking cigar is simply a dream to smoke. Wether you're sitting watching your favorite sporting event, or while socializing with friends in public. this cigar has found a place in my humidor until i can no longer get them.... wether you buy a single stick or an entire box, you just can't go wrong....

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Torpedo

One of my favorite gars (In my top 3).. Great flavor and was smooth from start to finish. I would say this cigar would be a medium flavor although it claims to be a full flavor cigar..This cigar stays pretty much consistent all the way through. A good buy.. I even given this to friends who don't normally smoke cigars and all of them said, "I like this one!" A must try!

Better than expected.

I got handed one of these playing some golf this weekend. Waaay better than the last one I smoked. It was meaty tasting. I liked it. I enjoyed it up until my golf partner knocked it off the cart and then ran over it as I was about half way finished. Booooo! Good gar though.

Good taste and a good buy.

A nice tasting cigar with a good finish. The hand wrap loosens midway through the cigar, but still a fine value. I would buy again.

Cadillac DeVille

Truly wonderful smoking experience. The burn was clean and smooth, the aroma exumes the smoker into a pleasant relaxing place the mind desires to wander into. the construction is superb with even burning and the draw is excellent and smooth. one of the world s finest maduro smoking experiences on the market. Aboslutely wonderful smoking experience with a bouquet of flavours from expresso to hints of caramel and hazelnet. Awesome cigar, one of RP's finest to date.

Not quite as good as the 1992

Overall a very nice cigar. More subtle than the 1992. Very nice construction and burn is not bad for a box pressed cigar. Like most Rocky's the smoke is nice and creamy and the cigar is worth the price.

The best tasting cigar so far

Im new to the cigar world and came across a sweet deal of 29.99 for 10 so I thought id give it a try. Im regretting I didn't buy more. If it was possible to fall in love with a cigar this is the one. The whitest ash ive ever seen, smooth to the end and consistant. Smells like chocolate covered cherrys

My new favorite!

Fantastic cigar, beautiful and flawless appearance dark and oily and fragrant even before lighting. Construction was nice no mushy spots the color of all the cigars in the box was the same, good even burn and easy draw. Smoked this baby to the nub, wished it just wouldn't end. This was my first Rocky Petel cigar and I am looking foreword to trying more from him.

These cigars are made with a hole down the center!!!! They burn down the middle, not the whole cigar. Very poor qualiy for the price!!!!

Buy these! NOW!

Officially my favourite non-Cuban smoke to date. Lots of rich tobacco flavour. Coats your palate with thick smoke...but it somehow stays medium bodied and smooth. i pick up a lot of black cherry and chocolate notes in this one...highly recommended

You gotta try these

You gotta try these. A lot of flavor from a little smoke. This is perfect for driving home or to work. VERY well made. Tight enough so that the draw keeps you from smoking it too quickly. Worth trying.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Juniors (Tin of 5 Cigars) by Auto Smoker of NJ on January 15, 2008

Oh My God!

My girlfriend got me a tin of these cigars and I just had my first one. It is just as good at the full size Vintage 1992's. The draw was smooth from beginning to the nub at the end. The smoke was rich, smooth, and luxourious. The ash held together for about 3/4 of the length. And the taste was as good as it gets. The other smokers I work with were, as always, envious. Even the non-smokers walking by gave me compliments on the aroma. You can't ask for much better.

Superb smoke at a reasonable price!

This is the first full box of smokes that I have purchased. They are so good I actually bought 2 boxes! They are smooth, light, and very flavorful. These are easily twice as good as the 1990 vintage. I am a 9 out of 10 smokes maduro type of guy myself. This is closer to perfection than any other cigar I have ever smoked. These are so great that I am going to purchase another 2 boxes before the year is up.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Petite Corona by S. Newsense of Baltimore, MD on December 5, 2007

For a small cigar in a tin, it is excellent

This is not as good a cigar as the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Petite Corona, but considering the price, it is excellent and is about as close as you can get to the real thing. It seems to be put together a little looser and therefore draws with little effort, but at the same time gets a little hot/harsh as you smoke it.

One of the best cigars I've ever smoked. A little bit of Heaven. Definitely in my top 3.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Torpedo by Steve S. of Woodbury, CT on October 27, 2007

the best juniors...ever(?)

These juniors are great, as are the larger versions...I buy a lot of the "junior" versions of my faves so that I can enjoy a smoke on a coffee brake at work or so I can give a friend who smokes cigars a sample of a good cigar...the problem is that not all good cigars have a "junior" version that really give you a good idea of what the bigger cigar is all about...for instance, the CAO Brazillia cariocas just do not give you the same flavor as the bigger ones. And CAO Cammaroon petites...why did they have to go so small? They taste good but burn fast and are over very quick...punch makes a good one and so does Padron...but in my oppinion, this R.P. Vintage '90 junior is the best representative of its larger counerparts and I cant get enough of these.

Hard draw and quite disappointing

Bought one of these at my local cigar store for $6.50 to try. This cigar does not live up to the hype. The draw was poor all the way through. Glad I tried these before ordering.

My New Favorite

I've tried many different smokes, and out of them all, this is my favorite. The draw, the taste, all of it, simply great. I cant go to my locoal cigar club without getting a few of these. If you like a maduro thats not too strong, but still has some strength, then this is a must try.

Spoil Yourself

Got this guy in a sampler pack auction, two to be exact. The sampler with humidor "Famous Traveler 16" pack I bought was filled with good cigars, from the Carlos Torano Silver, to the Griffin's, but this baby was the best. They are reasonable in price, but phenominal in quality. Excellent wrap, presentation, burn and flavor. My punch went through smooth as silk, and ironically that's how I can liken the taste. It was a silky smooth, creamy and complex smoke with hints of cocoa, earthy tobacco, and a hint of caramel. These will always been in my humidor, they've made a buyer out of me.

Disappointing

Expected much more after reading the reviews, I second everything LK from Houston said, so/so flavor, hard draw and burned very unevenly. Bought a box of vintage 1990 Robusto's as a gift and hope I do not have to return them.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Toro 5 Pack by RJH of Swedesboro NJ on July 5, 2007

Didn't Live Up To The Hype

Just got the 5 pack yesterday and lit one up that evening. Flavor was okay but not great. Draw was a tight, very little smoke and burn was very uneven. Anticipated much more based on all the excellent reviews. I'll let the rest sit in the humidor for a couple of months and try again. Back to my RP Rosado Robustos.

A tale of two cities

I purchased a box and had the 5 free ones sent. I have no clue why but the the 5 pack cigars were outstanding and the ones from the box so-so. The ones from the box seemed to be too loose and they burned a bit hot. The 5 pack burned well and were delicious. Luck of the draw, I guess.

Perfect After Dinner Smoke

I've previously enjoyed the RP 1990's for a couple of years and ordered the RP sampler a few months back. Smoked a '92 fresh and found it had nice taste as the '90s but had just a bit of a bite to it. Well I've had them in my humidor for a couple of months and now it smokes just beautifully. Very smooth for such a deep flavor. I'm hoping that the extremely harsh Cuban Blend comes around; I'm giving them a full year.

This review was written about Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Robusto by Gregg of Concord, NH on April 13, 2007

Inconsistent burn

As pricey and highly hyped as this cigar is one would expect it to be just about perfect. It's not and it's a shame. It is a tasty full bodied cigar. But, more often than not the burn is inconsistent with tunneling a frequent problem. Once a cigar starts to tunnel it's almost impossible to salvage it. When you have to throw away a cigar that costs $5 it becomes a $10 cigar. For the money there are better choices out there.

whats a good sign of a great cigar?

O.K.for me, it's for 1) the taste, 2) the draw, 3) the burn, of course, if you have good draw and burn the construction must be good, as well as appearance, 4)consistency, meaning each and every cigar should be the same, now I have found all of this in the Vintage 1992's and there is this as well (which is, to me a surprise and I'm not sure how it would be rated) I can not smoke in my house it is my wifes only request since I refuse to quit smoking cigars, so I smoke on the front porch, so I go out tonite and light up a R.P. Vint. 1992,I get about 3 puffs between each commercial break, which is a little less then 1 minute between puffs, (I prefer at least 1 minute but I'm also fond of prime time T.V. so I push it) but the thing that has really pleased me about this is that when I got back out approx. 8 to 9 minutes later I find the cigar still burning! and burning even at that, now this is the 4th or 5th of these that I have smoked and they have all been the same except this 1 or any other cigar brand I have smoked, don't remember any cigar still being lit for more then a couple minutes, so I get my 3 puffs and go back in to the boob tube, now this time I timed it 9 minutes, I got out pick up the gar and yep still lit, and the ash is now 1 inch long, thats a great cigar! o.k. my 9 minutes is up going out for more!

Too much of a very good thing?

This was my first try of an RP Vintage 1990. Not much room to use a standard cutter, but oh what flavor! This cigar was a monster that seemed to last all afternoon. I recommend this one with company, a good glass of your favorite spirit or red wine - preferably at your favorite cigar lounge. Speaking of which, at mine they practically flew off the shelf. It's almost too much of a good thing! I highly recommend the Vintage 1990. As a matter of fact, I did to my cousin, and he called this evening to rave about them and wanted to order a box immediately... so I gave him the URL of this website.

Excellent Smoke! Highly recomend.

I'm new to smoking fine cigars, but I have to say this one is now my favorite. Everything it is said to be and more. Nice full flavor, great aroma, efortless draw . Quality through and through. Rocky definitely has a winner here and a new repeat customer. I can't wait to try more of his creations. Also, I couldn't be happier with my service from Famous. I have several locals to buy from, but will buy the majority of my future cigars from Famous, . They just really seem to care about quality and not just getting your $$.

Simply the best for the price !

What can you say about these except "God what a cigar !" I have had Padrons anniversary's and these are every bit as good, just hope the price doesn't catch up to them, the look, burn and draw can't be beat, the taste is medium to full with an almost almond type woody flavor, hints of spice, its just a wonderful cigar, to good to smoke any time but I would!

full-body doesn't have to be painfull-

Maybe it's me,but some of these full-bodied complex smokes are like smoking camel dung wrapped in a cataupa leave--than there are ones like FD ligero,La Aurora, and Rocky Patel vin 1990,to name a few. This cigar has a beatiful look, burn, lots of smoke-and a very smooth terrific full-bodied taste through-out.I will keep a couple of theese in the humidor.

I have nothing bad to say about this smoke: it's consistent, very tasty (fruity?) and georgous. The draw is a little loose for my liking, but the smoke is delicious and intoxicating. I wish I could afford a box. Oh well...
