Gurkha Black Dragon Robusto

"Surprisingly, but Five star"

I got a 5-pack of Gurkha Black Dragon robustos at discounted price from Famous. Ususally I am suspicious to cigars set for sales as this often means that their quality is not adequate to the price. This was not the case for me with Black Dragons. Taste was very complex and smooth, notes of spice and sweetness mixed with earthy flavors. It had also changed at various length of cigar. Appearance and construction were flawless. Each stoggie is packed the same way as Opus X with black band and cedar wrapping. Burn was very even, no tunneling or canoeing, and draw was perfect. I rarely burn my fingers when finishing the cigar and was very close to doing so in this case. Best Gurkha and one of the best robustos I have smoked so far. Will probably buy a box. P.S. I only wish Gurkha changed the way they name their cigars and reduced the number of brands in their product lineup. They would have sold twice more had it not been so confusing.

"Gurkha hasn't failed me yet."

Granted, I'm a newbie (as of 10/12/2009) but Gurkha's construction and flavor hasn't failed me yet. The Black Dragon is no exception, providing a smooth draw, great flavor, consistent burn and thick, heavy smoke. The Black Dragon was truly an enjoyable cigar.

I am a huge Gurkha fan especially the maduros. Love the Black Dragon Robustos the best. Better than the Titan and the Beast!

I really thought this cigar was "less than spectacular". I smoke a LOT of cigars, and have for many years, and this thing was "mid-grade" as far as I was concerned.

"An excellent addition to any connoisseur's humidor"

The Black Dragon is an amazing smoke, pure and simple. The flavor is unparalleled throughout, with several pleasing turns at about 1 1/2 and 4 inches respectively. the burn was slightly uneven in maybe 3 of the box I ordered, and the draw, while a just a little bit tight for my tastes, was consistent to the end. An excellent cigar through and through, and a fine addition to any true cigar connoisseur's humidor

I emailed famous' sister company CI a scathing critique of the ligerx3 . They didn't print it. Lets see if CI is willing to be honest with their customers. This cigar canoed badly from the start. The taste was non-existent and what there was was mild .Nice band though , but not worth the money . Better off buying a consuerga .
