Over the last several years, Tim Ozgener, of CAO fame, has been inching his way back into the spotlight while fully immersing himself in Crowned Heads culture with OZ Family Cigars.
His 2026 releases include 2 lines dedicated to the world of soccer; this is one of them, called Maracana (pronounced ma-da-ca-NAH).
Once the largest arena of its kind in the world and built to hold up to 200,000 spectators, Maracana Stadium opened in 1950 in Rio de Janeiro to showcase Brazil’s soccer ambitions on the world stage. Best known for Brazil’s shocking upset against Uruguay in the World Cup Final of that same year, it is also the venue where Pele scored his 1,000th career goal in 1969.
Tim has had a love affair with soccer since he was a child and has developed this special OZ Family Maracana blend as a tribute to the World Cup games in 2026. But this isn’t his first display of affection for the sport. Blended and made at the new My Father factory in Honduras, this cigar is somewhat of a re-creation of an iconic favorite from the Ozgener family’s first go-round, CAO Brazilia.
Taking a more modern approach to a Brazilian-wrapped cigar, this blend uses an Arapiraca wrapper over Honduran and Nicaraguan binders and fillers and is offered in 4 box-pressed sizes:
One more interesting thing to note: this is the first time the Garcia family has ever worked with Arapiraca wrapper, and the results is nothing short of exquisite! One can expect a full-flavored kick with this futbol-inspired blend that our staff has thoroughly enjoyed.
