E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2016 cigars represent the seventh edition of this critically-acclaimed series that continues to WOW cigar smokers year-after-year. For the 2016 release Ernesto returned to a dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, which he hasn't used since 2011, and the cigar is only made in one size, a 6" x 52 Toro, presented in limited edition boxes of 10 cigars. At the heart of this masterpiece lies a blend of Nicaraguan long fillers, including some Criollo '98 leaf from the Somoto region of Nicaragua -- a very little known, almost secret locale, not often revealed by cigar makers who use this outstanding leaf. According to Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, prior Short Run editions were spin-offs of some regular production E.P.C. lines, but this 2016 model has its own distinct blend. Of course, the best way to find out is to smoke one. Considering the sheer quality and singular flavor this cigar offers, when you factor in the price per cigar, the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2016 Toro is quite a reasonable investment. Suggestion: Add a box to your collection sooner than later.
