Hand rolled in DR, Luminosa cigars are an approachable, mellow-to-medium smoke made for Crowned Heads in conjunction with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.'s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. Luminosa, meaning "full of light," illuminates the palate with warm tobacco flavors balanced by an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. While falling on the mild-medium side of the spectrum, this premium is a full-bore flavor bomb with notes of creaminess and black pepper. Add a box of these first-rate Dominicans to your cart and puff away at the creamy goodness!
Normally, I would not spend that much on a cigar. I top out at $4.00. They were good... not $6.00 good.
As a big fan of Jon Huber and Crowned Heads cigars I was excited to find these available in a 5 cigar set. Unfortunately they were dry and brittle on delivery and despite a few days in the humidor they exploded when cut and were hard and dry to the touch. Despite the condition they held a hint of the pride and flavor that is consistent with Crowned Heads cigars. It would be unfair to rate this cigar as poor knowing what it would have been fresh out of a humidor. The Luminosa Toro is usually a wonderful adventure of mild flavors and prideful construction that shows the hard work Crowned Heads has done establishing their blends and tobaccos for their customers. A great cigar in poor shape.
