Quesada 70th cigars celebrate the Quesada family's patriarch and one of the cigar industry's finest gentleman, Manuel Quesada, who turned 70 in April, 2017 and took the reins in blending this special "anniversary" cigar. Starting with a core of Nicaraguan & Dominican long-fillers, Manuel added a Dominican-grown Sumatra-seed leaf for the binder and completed his birthday present with a dark, Dominican-grown Cuban-seed wrapper. The cigars are presented in two limited edition sizes - a 6" x 52 Belicoso and a 6" x 50 Toro of which only 1,000 boxes of 10 were produced for each. That should tell you right there that this is a very rare and special blend.
According to his nephew, Terence Reilly of Quesada Cigars, "Whether you know him well or have never met him personally, smoking this cigar gives aficionados an opportunity to connect with Manuel through the taste and flavor of this blend. It truly exemplifies his palate."
expect a full-flavored, medium-full smoke starting with cedar, nut and leathery nuances that transition to notes of toffee, chocolate, some anise, and a hint of honey on a long finish. If this is the kind of cigar Manuel appreciates, that's good enough for us, and odds are, for you, too. Once they're gone, that's all she wrote, so add a box to your cart soon.
