Bosphorus is the first regular production cigar from Ozgener Family Cigars. The company is headed by former CAO president, Tim Ozgener who returned to the cigar business in 2022. Bosphorus refers to the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey. The strait is known for how it separates Europe from Asia, but it also has a very personal meaning to Tim with regard to his late father, Cano, who was Armenian and his mother who was Turkish.
Made at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí, Nicaragua, Bosphorus starts with a core of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa, and robust Ometepe. The binder is a double shot of Ecuador Connecticut and Nicaraguan Jalapa. Handcrafted in four popular shapes the medium-bodied cigars are finished in an Ecuador hybrid Sumatra wrapper, then softly box-pressed. And that’s not all. Get a load of the band and box graphics on these cigars. They’re gonna get you noticed. Be sure to add a box of this stunning first effort from Tim Ozgener who can honestly say, “This isn’t my first rodeo.”
