Plasencia calls Alma del Fuego, “a love letter to Ometepe.” The Ometepe Island is a volcanic island in Nicaragua where the binder, and some of the filler leaves for this blend were grown – and then aged for seven years. The duo of volcanoes named Concepcion (Active) and Maderas (inactive) are not only a majestic sight to see, but the dark, nutrient-rich soil is a direct result of the island's volcanic origins and has contributed to Ometepe's globally renowned tobacco.
Alma del Fuego fittingly means the soul of fire in Spanish – and this blend has it in spades. With its Nicaragua Jalapa wrapper, the blend provides medium-plus-bodied notes of nuts, coffee, and a cloud of sweet, woody smoke. Plasencia’s Alma series is made for the discriminating smoker.
The Toro-size Concepcion, aptly named after the active volcano on Ometepe, was showered with accolades earning a 93 rating from Cigar Aficionado on top of earning a spot in the coveted Top 25 Cigars of the Year in 2019. Alma del Fuego was born from the sun and the volcanic ash, to be ignited by the flame of your cigar lighter - add a box to your order at Famous Smoke Shop.
Notice: Plasencia Alma del Fuego has recently gone through a redesign of its packaging, which eliminated the inclusion of an ashtray as part of the box these wonderful cigars are sold in.
