How do you follow up Encore, EPC's #1 Cigar of the Year? With another: the Prequel size of Pledge by EP Carrillo has been named 2020's #1 Cigar of the Year! Ernesto Perez-Carrillo of Carrillo Cigar Company has gone the extra mile with this award-winning follow-up. EPC made and repeatedly tweaked six blends, cutting the rejects one by one until a single cigar remained. “With each sample of the six blends for Pledge I worked on, I asked myself, ‘Is this cigar worthy to follow La Historia and Encore?’” said Ernesto in Pledge’s press release. “And I was very pleased when I found the one.” The heart of the cigar is a blend of an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan fillers with a hand-picked Connecticut-seed Habano.
We found that it offers a savory sweetness from thick, creamy smoke, with peppers and spice on the finish. Another crown-worthy cigar from Carrillo's Family Series, and a must for any cigar lover’s humidor at this Famous price. Get your box today!
This cigar is good to the nub and only gets better as you smoke it. I have nothing but good things to say about this excellant cigar.
Phenomenal smoke a very bold flavor smoke. Great for after a nice mealtime
Really pleased with these! So good that I bought two more boxes!
My favorite cigar
I am and continue to be an Oliva Melanio Churchill fan. No doubt about it, that is an all-time great smoke. But, after reading the accolades about the EPC Pledge in Cigar Aficianado, I thought I should give it a try. And, WOW, I was nearly blown away. This is one incredible smoke and no question why it holds the CA highest rating ever. I now stock both the Melanios and the Pledge in my humidors!
A terrific smoke. The flavors consisted of black coffee, black cherry, licorice and wood. The burn is razor sharp, and the draw is perfect...no touchups needed on this beauty.
The EPC Pledge began tasty and aromatic from the very first draw. I am not annoyed at all that it is 2020s cigar of the year. I m glad I nabbed a couple of five packs the day before it went on backorder!
Wow, this stick is a knockout. It is so smooth and easy draw. Construction is amazing, and draw is super amazing. This stick didn t disappoint at all. This is one of my Top 3 cigars that I will always go to. No wonder it is always on back order. This cigar is not to peppery, no harshness, but an overall smooth puff to the lips and senses of smell. I love it and these should be in stock and readily available at all time. Please try it because i want you to be convinced as I have been. Smoke on...
I bought a 10-box, and the first cigar I smoked had loosely packed filler in a way that actually made the cigar too hot to hold and created hotspots on the inhale. I ve had 2 since and they are better but still leaving me perplexed as to why this was Cigar of the Year. It s a quasi-box-pressed presentation, a bit on the diminutive side and the fast-burn results in a 30 minute experience. Hand-made cigars will have some unit by unit variation and I hope my remaining 7 sticks show the quality I had read about.
I was interested in trying this cigar due to the very positive reviews and it being a cigar of the year winner. This toro was flawlessly rolled with a smoothe draw, no touch ups needed. BUT, it lacked complexity. It was too mild and quite frankly tasteless. I much prefer my Plasenia or My Father sticks. If your into Macanudo mild, this is your smoke!
