Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez cigars are a modern day spin on one of Cuba's oldest cigar brands. Here AJ does it again, reinventing another classic Cuban imprint by using a strong, but far from overpowering blend of diverse Nicaraguan tobaccos highlighted by a dark, rare, medio tiempo Nicaraguan Habano hybrid wrapper. According to one source, Fernandez said the Ramon Allones brand had "a special place" in his heart because it was one of his father's favorite brands when they lived in Cuba.
Although the Ramon Allones cigars made in Cuba and the Dominican Republic have always had the reputation of being among the fullest in body and strength, this Nicaraguan iteration is impressively smooth, creamy, and though quite spicy, it's not nearly as peppery.
As to its finer qualities and flavors, think: elegance and power. The cigar itself is dark, toothy and gleams with oil from the wrapper. It starts off a little peppery and earthy, as expected, followed by well-balanced notes of sweet tobacco, espresso, bittersweet chocolate, leather, and spice, with a rich, spicy aroma. Complex indeed!
Having earned the Toro the #16 slot in Cigar Journal's "Top 25 Cigars of 2018," this is one of AJ's best creations. A bold-tasting must-smoke for AJ disciples and more experienced devotees of full-flavored Nicaraguan cigars. Don't hesitate to pull the trigger on these, by adding some to your cart now.
