Every cigar starts with a story, and this one’s all family. If you reminisce over fond memories of your youth and the people who walked you through it, Castle 919 by Stolen Throne Cigars speaks to you.
Keeping things fresh and edgy in this business requires keen senses, a talented blender, and an almost obsessive love of the leaf. Lee Marsh, owner of Stolen Throne Cigars, possesses all three. Especially when he has a partner in Noel Rojas, doing what he does best at his highly regarded, boutique Nicaraguan factory.
When he introduced his first brand, Crook of the Crown, in May of 2019, Lee kept the concept simple by releasing every cigar in two core sizes. He’d usually follow those up with a limited edition vitola within the same year. ‘Crook’ has been a wildly successful (and often-requested) boutique brand that I was turned on to by word-of-mouth, and we brought it in not long after. It was a solid decision - glad I listened!
Launched at the 2025 New Orleans trade show, Castle 919 is another unique boutique that holds a very special place in Lee’s heart. Raised by his grandparents in the Essex suburb of Baltimore, this blend marks the 10th anniversary of his late grandfather’s passing. The symbolism is personal but, when asked, he explained that he lived in a white house that resembled the Castle of Essex in England, which adorns the cigar band; his house number was 919. Hence, Castle 919 was born.
Naturally, a special tribute like this deserves a special blend. And Stolen Throne delivers: the combination of Ecuadorian Habano Claro wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and fillers grown in Nicaragua and Peru produce a full bodied ‘Cubanesque’ experience with loads of flavor and billowing smoke.
