ADVentura Cigars describe themselves as the combination of "SWISS PRECISION AND DOMINICAN PASSION." Founded in 2016 by Marcel Knobel, a Swiss sommelier and coffee producer, and Henderson Ventura, the master blender at Tabacalera William Ventura in DR - they immediately went about putting their mark on the premium cigar world through their blends and their unique packaging.
Knobel & Ventura's first success came in Europe, with their
ADVentura Explorer line of cigars - named for seafaring legends and conquerors of the New World. Interest among cigar enthusiasts followed them to America; now with their cigars introduced to a larger fan base in the States, their next project was to tell an adventure story. ADV and McKay are the prominent characters who sail the high seas, hunt for buried treasure, and search for the origin of tobacco - and each chapter in the story is told through one of the cigars in the lineup - including
The Royal Return,
Barbarroja's Invasion, and yes - the one with the talking cigar box -
ADVentura Blue Eyed Jack's Revenge. With each cigar, the travelers "discover the unknown pleasures of the world," with
Dominican cigars at the center of it all.
In addition to a number of Limited Edition cigars, ADVentura runs a charity initiative called
Piece of Heart that supports the health needs of children whose families work in, and live near the cigar factory.
ADVentura cigars are crafted by hand at Tabacalera William Ventura, the same factory trusted by the likes of Matt Booth (
Room 101) and
Caldwell to make their cigars; William Ventura, Henderson's father, opened the factory in Tamboril in 2007 after a highly respected 20-year career with
Davidoff. The family's blending and production now revolves around boutique cigar manufacturing, as the Venturas have become known for using rare and vintage tobaccos to produce exceptionally refined flavor profiles.
