Aganorsa Leaf cigars are expertly handcrafted with tobaccos grown by Aganorsa, S.A., a Nicaraguan agricultural conglomerate based in Jalapa and owned by Eduardo Antonio Fernandez Pujols. Eduardo Fernandez was born in Havana, Cuba, and came to the U.S. as a youngster. A graduate of the Wharton School of Business, Fernandez entered a career in the banking industry.
Tired of the corporate life, Fernandez turned to agronomy and moved to Nicaragua in 1997, forming the Casa Fernandez name to grow tobacco in the authentic Cuban tradition. Today, Aganorsa is one of the cigar industry's largest growers and suppliers of prime Nicaraguan tobacco, which can be found in many of the world's most highly-rated cigars.
Here you'll find the wide variety of cigars made in Miami, Florida, which has carved its own road to success. Working with his team of Cuban experts, most of the tobaccos are grown under shade, and Fernandez likes the reddish soil of Jalapa which is virtually identical to Cuba's famed Pinar Del Rio region. In a 2012 interview with Cigar Aficionado, Aganorsa's Arsenio Ramos, a Cuban cigar industry veteran and expert in fermentation, said that Jalapa's soil is "the same as San Luis in the Vuelta Abajo...just like the El Corojo farm." Ramos, for whom the Casa Fernandez Arsenio selection is named, also said that Jalapa tobacco "has better aroma and flavor."
That should give you a very good indication of the rich Cubanesque flavor and aroma you'll find in every Aganorsa Leaf cigar. Be sure to add these fine, humidor-worthy cigars to your collection, because there's nothing like a cigar made with tobaccos that have been grown, fermented, and aged to perfection by those who know how to do it right.
