Augusto Reyes Cigars
Augusto Reyes cigars are the pride of the Reyes family, who are not of Cuban origin, but rather, have their roots in the Dominican Republic where they have grown and brokered tobacco for six generations. Now also known for producing some of the best Dominican cigars at their Corporación Cigar Export factory, the Reyes' growing operation continues to be one of the country's biggest growers of Dominican Habano seed tobacco. The first Reyes factory opened in 1990, where they produced a number of private labels, among which included cigars made for car racing legend, Emerson Fittipaldi. It wasn't until 2006 that Augusto Reyes Sr., produced a blend with a band on which he could put the family name.
Augusto Reyes Family Selection Reserve
When you have a cigar factory for which your family also grows the tobacco, you have a lot more control over your blends. For the wrappers on their Augusto Reyes Family Selection Reserve cigars, they've used a rare "Negrito" seed grown exclusively on the Reyes family's estate farm in the DR. This flavorful, dark natural wrapper conceals a blend of spicy, high-priming ligeros balanced by a pair of mid-priming seco long-fillers for a medium to full-bodied smoke that's impressively smooth at an equally impressive price.
Augusto Reyes Junior
Named for sixth generation Reyes family member, Augusto Reyes Junior cigars are an attractive-looking selection offering one of the best premium cigar values on the market. These affordably-priced bundle cigars offer a choice of Nicaraguan Habano or Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers with a mild Dominican filler blend. The Connecticut are lighter in character with a sweet aroma, while the Habano offer a fuller flavor profile that's more medium in strength. Sold at discount cigar prices, they sure look like expensive cigars, making them well worth a shot for bargain hunters.
