San Lotano Cigars
AJ Fernandez revived his grandfather's pre-Revolution Cuban brand with San Lotano, named for the family's San Luis, Cuba roots and blended entirely at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Estelí. Originally created by Andres Fernandez before 1959, the line disappeared during the Castro era until AJ brought it back in 2010 as his first nationally distributed solo project, honoring the family legacy that shaped his mastery of Nicaraguan tobacco.
The Habano line wraps oily Nicaraguan Habano leaf around Nicaraguan long-fillers for a medium-full profile loaded with earth, wood, white pepper, and toasted grain. The Connecticut dials it down to creamy, smooth medium with silky Ecuador Connecticut Shade over Nicaraguan core, bringing cedar, nut, subtle spice, and cream. The Oval goes darker with Honduran Criollo maduro over Nicaraguan core for bold, rich spice, cocoa, leather, and earth. The Dominicano blends Dominican Corojo and Piloto Cubano with Nicaraguan fillers under Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper for refined sweetness with balanced strength and complexity.
The Requiem series pays tribute to the original Cuban line with Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro over Nicaraguan Habano binder and fillers, delivering full-bodied smoke with dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, and black pepper. Each San Lotano blend captures AJ's signature power and complexity while honoring the family recipe that started it all in Cuba decades ago. Whether you want medium elegance or full-strength punch, San Lotano delivers Nicaraguan excellence rooted in three generations of tobacco tradition.
