CA Report: Top New Cigars (January 27, 2025)

Say goodbye to January with these new cigars!

With only a few days left in January, we’re hoping that you’ve settled into 2025 well enough by now.

Whether you’ve broken your resolutions, or are sticking to them, we’re happy to have you here with us along the way. As for me? Well, I’ve been finding just about any excuse to go about and enjoy some of the finest new cigars we have to offer.

Here are some recommendations from us here over at Cigar Advisor – read on to see the hottest sticks we’ve been enjoying lately!

ADVentura Barbarroja’s Invasion

Wrapper: San Andres
Binder: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dominican Republic

Before I get to the cigar itself, I do want to just shout out two cool facts about this stick that are exclusive to ADVentura’s brand and this line. For those who like to buy the whole box, you’ll be treated to a surprise – as the box speaks to you when opening the lid. There’s also the background of this smoke. ADVentura has built a rich story which has informed the construction of each of their cigars. Telling the tale of ADV and McKay, two explorers who have set off around the world, this cigar takes the tale in a darker direction - with Barbarroja having world domination in mind.

As promised, here are the actual facts on Barbarroja’s Invasion…this full-bodied smoke had caught me by surprise in the best way possible. The primary notes were leather, milk chocolate, and some earthiness throughout. This premium really feels like a can’t-miss to me, the kind that I could see myself enjoying on an early summer morning with a cup of coffee. Definitely one to check out if you’re feeling adventurous and looking to add some new stuff to your humidor.

Famous Dominican Selection 2000

Wrapper: Connecticut Shade
Binder: Dominican Habano
Filler: Dominican Republic

If there’s one thing my time as a broke college student has taught me, it’s that you don’t need to break the bank to claim some high-quality smokes. Had I seen it back then, the Famous Dominican 2000 would’ve put a big smile on my face. At an incredible price - under $4 bucks a stick - this mild smoke had consistent notes of vanilla and cashew throughout. A high-quality cigar at a price point that’s hard to beat; if you’re looking to stock your humidor for the rest of winter, then I’d seriously suggest checking this out.

Toscano Brenta

Wrapper: Italian
Binder: Italian
Filler: Italian

The Toscano Brenta is the Toscano company’s first foray into air-cured tobacco. This was a kind of tobacco that I was not familiar with going in, but this Italian stick impressed me a lot. It’s a quick smoke, being smaller than what’s usual for Toscano. Again though, that’s not a bad thing at all. In fact, with that winter chill still in full force I’d say the quicker experience gave it a few extra bonus points.

Brenta was my first from the Toscano brand, and works as a real good introduction. It has consistent earth, cedar, and leather flavors that are perfect for this premium. If you’re looking for a great everyday cigar, then I’d seriously suggest you give this one a chance.
