CA Report: Top New Cigars (February 10, 2025)
Big Game favorites on this week’s Top New Cigars!
Anybody else missing that summer air right about now? Old Man Winter won’t stop knocking on my door, and quite frankly I’m missing sitting out on my porch and lighting up. Luckily, between the garage and my local cigar lounge, I’ve had no trouble finding the time and a place to get one going.
That said, there are bigger fish to fry right about now. While I’m writing this, the game is only a few days away, but by the time you’re reading it, we’ll know who’s won. For the record, I’m an Eagles fan all the way. Go Birds.
So, here’s to the winner, whichever team it might be. Take a chance on what’s fresh and new from over here at Famous to celebrate the occasion!
Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Sucesor
Wrapper: Nicaragua Habano / Nicaragua Sumatra
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Presenting itself as the successor to Jamie Garcia’s Reserva Especial line, this cigar really is just a damn good time. There isn’t much in terms of a backstory for this smoke, just pure quality. Featuring two different blends, the Jaime Garcia Sucesor comes in either a Torpedo (linked in the image above) or a Toro. Both have a complexion that changes and develops in interesting ways.
I went into this smoke completely blind, but now that I’m on the other side, I’m singing its praises to anyone who’ll listen. When enjoying this blend, be on the lookout for those prominent white pepper, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors. This cigar is not to be missed; pick up a couple of these Sucesors while you still can!
Viaje Furiosa Imperator
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
When I first saw the name of this cigar, I knew I was going to be interested from the get-go. Both Mad Max: Fury Road, and Furiosa are some of my favorite movies released within the last decade. When I saw a cigar taking the namesake of Furiosa, this premium was stuck in my head. Now that I’ve got my hands on it, I’m happy to say that it was exactly what I was hoping for. A cigar that—depending on the movie—is inspired by both revenge and rebellion, I was anticipating this blend to have some fire and a kick to it. Which it certainly had - you can expect to enjoy notes of jalapeno, mocha, and cinnamon topped off with full-bodied strength that left me a little lightheaded when all was said and done. If you’re a fan of the movies like me, or are just looking for a new full-strength blend to try, check this one out if you get the chance.
Drew Estate Deadwood Girl With No Name Lonsdale
Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
The Girl With No Name is another offering in the collaboration between Drew Estate and Deadwood. Being an infused blend, I felt like I had a good idea on what I was in for. With many sweetened recipes, I feel like what you see is kinda what you get. But this was way more than the sum of its parts, having some good flavor both from the tobacco and the infusion—plus more concentrated flavors from the narrower ring gauge of the Lancero. For the flavor notes themselves, you’ll find vanilla and a bell pepper spice to it. The best thing I can say about this stick is that you just have to try it to get the picture. Do yourself a favor and check this one out next time you’re looking.
