CA Report: Top 5 Honduran Cigars

5 Honduran Smokes We Can’t Get Enough Of!

In the cigar world, it’s easy to see the Honduran cigar as the middle child of the family. Between its siblings Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, Honduran tobaccos just don’t get as much love in comparison. But Honduras has been home to some great smokes that any smoker should jump at the opportunity to get their hands on. So, let’s celebrate the middle children everywhere and shine some love on the best Honduran’s available today!

Eiroa The First 20 Years

CLE is something of a powerhouse in the Honduran cigar world. The First 20 Years line celebrated Christian Eiroa’s 20th anniversary as a part of his family’s company. Not to give you the door-to-door pitch, but this cigar really speaks for itself in a way that few others do. It’s a premium that is tasked with the hefty job of speaking for the Eiroa family’s 100 year legacy in one stick. Notes of espresso, nuts, and earth complete the package with a smoke that dances across the palate.

Romeo Y Julieta House of Capulet 10th Anniversary

An exclusive from over here at Famous, we would feel silly to not to shout out our 10th Anniversary House of Capulet blend from Romeo y Julieta. A medium-bodied smoke dripping with Corojo sweetness, notes of nuts, and a boost above the original Capulet in the spice department. I’ve made something of a habit of lighting up one of these with a nice cup of coffee from my local cafe. There’s a big chance that if you’re here reading this that you’ve enjoyed this premium already, so do yourself a favor and get yourself another box.

Alec Bradley Black Market

Another cigar here that I imagine really is just going to speak for itself, and it’s one that might have you stopping and saying “Wait, that’s a Honduran?” It is. While Alec Bradley has put a lot of love into Black Market’s rare tobaccos, it features Honduran fillers, which I think provided some of the real hitters in this flavor profile. The signature Honduran profile plays well with the Panamanian tobaccos in a package you’re just not going to get anywhere else. If you haven’t gotten one of these already, add it to your list.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Rocky Patel Vintage is one of Rocky’s best-selling brands, and it’s not hard to see why. Almond, cashew, and toastiness make up this smoke’s tasting notes. Now we’re a few years away from when former Advisor, Gary, spoke on this premium, but honestly...that’s just a testament to the consistency and the quality of this blend. I’ll parrot Gary’s words when he said that this is “a high value cigar with a high value taste.” It might be a bit more pricey but it earns every single dollar in its flavor profie.

Baccarat

Baccarat is one of the best cigars on the market today, especially for when I’ve had to suggest smokes to friends or non-smokers. Baccarat is one of my go-tos. I don’t think I can sing this cigar’s praises enough, thankfully I’m not sure I have to. This is another cigar that just speaks for itself in terms of quality. Odds are you know just how solid this premium is: good flavors topped with a sweetened cap that really satisfies the palate. Check this one out as soon as possible if you haven’t tried it before. If you have had it before, then what are you waiting for?

Bonus Pick!

Leaf By Oscar

Keeping this list to just 5 cigars was a nearly impossible task. So, consider this our honorable mention, or our bonus pick. However you’d like to slice it, this cigar just couldn’t be ignored in the conversation of top Honduran smokes. I love the rustic look of this cigar provided by the extra leaf this cigar is wrapped in. The Nicaraguan wrapper holds great Honduran fillers; inside, you’ll find some great notes of chocolate, white pepper, and wood. This one was an instant classic in the Honduran world, so put some of these in your cart next time you’re shopping.
