CA Report: Top New Cigars (March 17th, 2025)

The Latest Cigars to get you to Spring!

Aaaaaand we’re back.

After our short upgrade-related hiatus, I’ve been eager to get back in the chair to deliver the news of the latest and greatest cigars to you. Now, I’m not trying to waste your time this go around by waxing poetically about St. Paddy’s day. If you’re looking to go out and enjoy a night at the Pub, here are some of hits to enjoy pre or post-game.

But first, remember to click here if you’re looking to explore all that’s fresh and new along with me.

West Tampa Circle of Life

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

I’d been keeping my eye on West Tampa since I’d first heard about it, looking for an excuse to give some of their blends a shot. I’m happy to say that this one fulfilled all my expectations. My first impression of this premium was an impressive one. Most notably its looks: it’s a gorgeous cigar with an oily wrapper. The nice medium-full strength stays the whole way through, with some flavors that really completed the package. You can expect to find a lavender note in that first third that sets the stage for a complex blend. For me, this has become an ideal after-dinner cigar. Do yourself a favor and check these out sometime soon.

Raices Cubanas Clasico

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

Described as Raices Cubanas’ true introduction, the launch of their recent product line has brought them back to our attention. I think there’s some real heavy hitters in this lineup, most notably the C5 Black (which we will be reviewing soon), and the aforementioned Clasico. Now, this is a Honduran puro with about a medium strength to it. With my experience, I caught some cashew, some spice, and some sweetness throughout the whole smoke. I must admit that I wasn’t all too familiar with Raices Cubanas before I had this, but now that I have, I’m quickly putting them on my radar. If you’re looking for something to add to your rotation, then check these out.

Alec Bradley Chunk Maduro 3XL

Wrapper: Mexican
Binder: Honduran
Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan

Let’s talk about a cigar with some “big ring energy.” Alec Bradley’s Chunk line has been at the forefront of unapologetically oversized cigars. Now, you see a cigar this big—at a 4x66—it’s easy to want to call it a gimmick. But gimmick or not, this cigar exceeded every expectation I had for it. Some good flavors are in here, it had this natural sweetness to it that turned the big ring experience into something pleasant. It’s an oversized package that is almost too good to believe. Do yourself a favor and give this one a go, especially if you’re interested in those bigger ring sizes.
