Cigars 101

Can you recommend a good cigar cutter?

Q. I’m tired of cheap cutters that mangle the ends of my cigars. What do you recommend for an inexpensive cutter that will last a while? I’m thinking of the Xikar Xi2 cutters. Are these any good? I am also very open for suggestions.
Thanks,

A. The XiKAR Xi2 (shown) is a smart way to go, and they’re guaranteed for life. I have a couple of them, and even when they get a little gritty they still cut cleanly. I would also suggest you pick up a good “standard shaped” double blade cutter, that’s also cheaper (but just as effective) as a “back-up” cigar cutter. The Wolf brand double-guillotine cigar cutter is great buy and is made by Wolfertz who currently make the razor-sharp blades for all the XIKAR Xi cigar cutters. Either way, you’re going to get hundreds of nice clean cuts on your Davidoff and other cigars.
