Reading Time: 2 minutes Fosforo Cigars have added two popular new shapes, Toro and Robusto, to their Fosforo Connecticut cigars selection. That makes it a three cigar core production line while offering more variety to cigar fans. Read all about it here.
I AM A NEW CIGAR USER AND AM NOT SURE WHAT TO BUT OR HOW TO BUY CIGARS, I HAVE TRIED THE DON TOMAS(WHICH I ENJOY) AND THE H. UPMANN CAMEROON, WHICH I ALSO ENJOYED BUT THOUGHT TO BE A LITTLE STRONGER ON THE PALATE. I ALSO EXPERIENCED MY FIRST REACTION TO THE BLOOM AND PROCEEDED TO THE SHOP WHERE I BOUGHT IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I LEARNED SOMETHING. P.S. I AM NOT A WEALTHY MAN, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST I LOOK FOR IN A CIGAR WITHOUT FEELING CHEAP WHILE I AM SHOPPING.
If it’s a cost issue and you prefer mild cigars, try the Famous Value Line Dominican #300.

Another good suggestion would be the Famous Dominican 2000 might serve you well, too.

The quality of both is very good.
Good luck and enjoy,

One effective way to combat mold problems is by the use of desiccants like Silica Gel. These are the same small sachets you find in packaging of various products like electronics, garments, etc.
Silica Gel works by absorbing the moisture in its surrounding area. For most mold challenges, it does the job pretty well. Small sachets cost less than a dollar. It truly is a cost effective way of protection from moisture.
I would also recommend the Flor de Oliva [gold] or the Juan Y Ramone bundles
I really enjoy the julietta’s. Romeo and Juliet reasonably priced and good flavor
Does mold grow on the humidifiers? I checked mine today and it had fuzzy white stuff on top.
Yes, it does grow in humidifiers. That white stuff is a form of mold. If you are using a green oasis foam humidifier and it’s several years old, it’s probably time to replace it anyway. I had a similar problem. Replace your current model with a crystal-based humidifier (Xikar, Cigar Savor, et. al.) and only use Monster Venom Solution or a similar 50/50 solution.
Yea I removed them immediately. Also I’ve heard mixed opinions about removing cigars from their wrappers when putting them in the humi. What do you suggest?
I tend to remove the cellos from almost all of my cigars. The only cigars I keep in cello are those with very delicate wrappers. Sometimes I cut the cello at the foot to allow more air to flow into the cigar. They may age a little quicker w/o cello, but it won’t inhibit their ability to age well over time that much, if at all.
I am using a Xikar crystal humidifier (about 2 months old) with Monster venom solution. I found today it has white mold in it. Do I throw it or can it be cleaned?
Hi Ronny,
If it’s just white mold, it can be cleaned. Try soaking rinsing it using a solution of rubbing alcohol and distilled water. Then rinse it with distilled water. Should be good as new.
Mold spores are all around us in the environment, and cannot be eradicated. Our task is to keep prevent them from growing by maintaining ideal humidor conditions – no higher than 70 degrees F and 70% relative humidity.
