Cigar News: Henry Clay ‘War Hawk’ Cigars Add Churchill to Line

Reading Time: 2 minutes

New Size’s Unique Flavor Profile Says, “Bigger is Better”

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Henry Clay War Hawk cigar fans will now be able to enjoy the award-winning line in a much-anticipated line extension in a 7” x56 Churchill vitola. Yes, bigger really is better! Some Henry Clay disciples may recall that the Henry Clay War Hawk was Aficionado’s #10 Cigar of the Year in 2020. Medium in body, the blend sports an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and Honduran filler.

It’s only fitting that a “Churchill” is next for this brand – especially given this cigar’s heritage. First released in 2019 by Altadis U.S.A., the Henry Clay War Hawk pays homage to its namesake, Henry Clay, who rose to Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in the early 1800s and was the leading voice in boldly applying pressure on President James Madison to defend the young nation. The term “War Hawk” was coined and is still used today in political circles.

Additionally, Winston Churchill, for whom the Churchill cigar shape was named, is a more modern-day example of a fierce competitor who never gives up.

Made in Honduras at the Flor de Copan factory, Henry Clay War Hawk recognizes Henry Clay’s lasting influence and rebellious nature by not using a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper like most of the other Henry Clay cigars. This “Hawkish” new Churchill cigar is a complex smoke, boasting a unique flavor profile, with plenty of spice.
