Cigar of the Week: Famous Value Line Nicaraguan #300 Toro

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I didn’t get to smoke the cigar until this past Monday. Even knowing that Protalasa makes some excellent cigars, I kept my expectations neutral. However, the cap clipped-off neatly, the pre-light draw was earthy and sweet, and when lit, the smoke was pleasantly smooth with flavors of sweet wood, roasted nuts, plus a hint of nutmeg and coffee bean. In was not only well-balanced, it was surprisingly complex, too. I looked up the price of the cigars and it was even more surprising. (They’re currently on sale for $29.95 through September 30.)*

“What a great everyday cigar this would make,” I thought, “Especially at a price like this.”

The smoke was smooth, solidly medium-bodied, and burned nicely. If there was any downside to this cigar, it did turn somewhat bitter in the last couple of inches. But to be fair, it had to withstand a number of relights, because I had to put it down at times and it would go out. That said, this is a terrific value, especially for cigar smokers who have to keep an eye on their budget. Definitely worth a try, since IMO you have little to lose, and a lot to look forward to.
