Nat Sherman Timeless Sterling Short Robusto Cigar Review

Construction and Overall Appearance: Deftly rolled with a plump and clean-cut appearance. No soft spots. The wrapper is flawless and even in color throughout.
Draw: Ideal
Pre-light flavors (cold draw): Sweet grass, earth
First few puffs: Sweet and spicy
Retrohale: White pepper, and not overpowering, either. Just enough to open your eyes.
Base flavors: Cedar, roasted nuts, sweet spices, white pepper
Aroma: Sweet
Burn / Ash Quality: The burn was even throughout with a bold carbon line. Ash was mostly grey and one of the most anti-gravity examples I’ve seen in quite a while. First ash didn’t drop until it was over an inch in length – that’s more than one quarter of the cigar. I tried rocking it a little in the ashtray saddle, and that didn’t move it. Then, I thought it might come off when I removed the bands, and it still hung-in there. It finally submitted, leaving 2¼-inches of cigar left to smoke.
Balance of flavors: Excellent

Summary: One of my first reactions to this cigar was, “Wow!” This smoke was a home run right out of the gate. Now, I also haven’t smoked a lot of Nat Sherman cigars over the years, so it was also more of a, “What have I been missing all this time?” kind of wow. The smoke medium-bodied, ultra-creamy, and teeming with sweet n’ spicy notes.

Nearing the midsection, the cedary notes were more defined with a sliver of white pepper on a long and creamy finish. In the final stage, the peppery spice was more pronounced, nudging some of the sweetness aside, resulting in a fusion of wood, earth, and pepper.

I began thinking about how good this blend might be in a longer size, but maybe the solution is to smoke two of these Short Robustos back-to-back. I wish these were offered in a box of 20 instead of 10, but even 10 carry a fairly steep price tag. In any event, it made me want to dig deeper into this Timeless Sterling selection. This is one of those cigars where I really didn’t know what to expect. Not only was I pleasantly surprised, it was one of the few cigars I’d say is worth the $12.75 per stick price, even with its diminutive dimensions.

Is the Nat Sherman Timeless Sterling Short Robusto for smokers who like much heartier fare? Probably not, but it’s got some nice kick in the last act. But if you like medium-bodied cigars with a perfectly-balanced mix of woodiness, sweetness, and some peppery spice, this little guy’s the bomb.
