Where it’s at: Draped in a dark, attractive Sumatra wrapper, this cigar is built like a tank and has some nice weight in the hand. Following a leathery-tasting pre-light, the smoke is quite dense offering notes of earth, oak, and leather. Shortly after, peppery spice enters the mix and lingers on a long finish. By the midsection, earth and oak flavors dominate. Later on, the pepper fades slightly, but it rules the retrohale. Overall, a straightforward, full-flavored H. Upmann smoke that will pair nicely with a long-aged bourbon or rum.
