Does a Cigar’s Size & Shape Relate to its Fullness?

The Effects of a Cigar’s Size & Shape on Flavor and Body

Q: If “ring gauge” significantly affects “flavor and fullness,” does a larger the ring gauge mean more flavor and fullness? I’m wondering if Coronas would have less flavor and fullness vs. Robustos or Churchills.
Thanks.

A:  From an observational, or logical standpoint, for that matter, one would think that larger ring gauges would have more flavor and fullness, and for the most part, they do. However, with a smaller ring cigar like a Corona or a Lancero where you’re getting more wrapper leaf, there are also many cases in which these thinner cigars offer more flavor and fullness.

Of course, the blend itself plays a significant part in the overall fullness and flavor of the cigar, regardless of its ring size and length. This is also one of the reasons I encourage cigar smokers to try different shapes and sizes. I smoke mostly Toros, but there are certain cigars I like more because of their particular sizes. In fact, I’m now starting to have a greater appreciation for Lonsdales.
